"WANNA DITCH THIS party and go to my room instead?" Sarah's question made his lips twitch.

She couldn't help but stare at him, taking in the sight of him. His lips were swollen— she was certain hers were worse— and coated in her lipstick. She watched as his tongue darted out to lick it in an attempt to get rid of it.

"Your dad will look for you," he muttered as he fixed his hair, trying to avoid her eyes as she was looking at him. He couldn't quite comprehend the emotion in them. It came close to what he assumed was adoration but with a mixture of concern. "And me. That won't be very smart. In fact, he's probably looking for you right now."

"I don't care about that," Sarah muttered, "I care about you. You weren't okay just a couple of minutes ago."

"I am now," he dreaded having to go back downstairs to his parents. He wanted to get out of this place and go home to Blake. "I'm gonna go back home."

"Kaden—" Sarah's words were abruptly cut short when the door to the bathroom flew open. They both snapped their heads in the direction, their eyes falling on Topper.

"Great." The sigh did that left Kaden's lips were louder than normal on purpose.

"What the hell is happening here?" Topper asked, his voice coming out loud as his eyes danced back and forth between Kaden and Sarah. He took in their appearances, noticing their swollen lips, her smudged lipstick and strands of hair that were not in place. "Are you two—"

"Yes," Kaden said before he could finish, his tone holding a hint of annoyance. "Yes to whatever." Then he glanced at Sarah and gave her a small smile that she could tell didn't reach his eyes before he walked past Topper and out of the bathroom.

"Sarah, I—" Topper didn't get to continue the rest of his sentence when Sarah rushed past him as well, eager to get out of there. She didn't want to hear to what he had to say, she was far more worried about Kaden. Her steps halted and she stood on top of the stairs as she watched him leave her house.

"Sarah," Ward's voice drifted her attention to him. She looked down to find her father staring at her, his brows drawn together. He glanced at Kaden's retreating figure and then back at his daughter. Then Topper caught his eyes from behind Sarah. He took a deep breath, "come down here for a second."

Cursing under her breath, she went down the stairs, stopping once she was right in front of Ward. Her eyes flickered to the doorway one more time, she wanted to go to Kaden's place so desperately. She wanted to be there for him. "What is it, dad?"

"I saw you following Kaden upstairs," Ward said simply, keeping his voice low. They were in a corner just beside the stairs, it was very unlikely for anyone to hear them but he could never be too cautious. "Now he's gone. What was that about?"

"Nothing," her response came a little too quick. "We just. . . talked. He isn't feeling well so he left. He told me to tell you that."

"I didn't know you two were friends."

"We aren't," she tried to not make it look too obvious as she shrugged her shoulders casually. "I just see him around every now and then. Why, is there a problem?"

"No," Sarah tried to ignore how relieved Ward looked as he continued to speak. "I was just wondering what happened. Have you seen Wheezie?"

Sarah's eyes did a quick sweep of the room before she shook her head, "no. She was just here." She inwardly sighed, realising she wasn't going to be able to get away anytime soon.

"YOU'RE LIKE THAT one itch I can never fucking scratch," Kaden mumbled as he glanced at Wheezie who had made herself comfortable in his backseat. "Some kind of tail."
