Chapter Nineteen

- You... You saw your old memories again ? Felix stammered, shocked and surprised.

I nodded, unable to answer out loud. The emotion was still too strong and blocked my throat. Felix handed me a handkerchief and watched me with concern.

By the time I'd come to my senses, we were on the plane. Not exactly in the same place as I remembered, but at the same time I felt as if I'd traveled and hadn't moved at all in the blink of an eye. It was a strange sensation. I felt drained. After my crying fit, I didn't feel as sad or depressed as I'd expected. I felt drained of everything, and part of me even felt relief. Relief at finally knowing what had really happened, even though I didn't have all the answers to my questions. Why had my mother abandoned me ? Where was my father ? Had they got angry before my mother took me to the airport ? What had happened between them ? And why, why had she abandoned me ? How could she ?

Sae-Jin spent the journey in silence, his gaze lost in thought. She'd briefly told him what she'd been through ; he'd been very surprised, but that explained her state when they'd entered the airport. Afterwards, he hadn't wanted to disturb her thoughts. He understood that she needed time to digest everything she had seen and felt.

So it was in silence that they flew to South Korea, hand in hand. After landing, they disembarked, trying to be as inconspicuous as possible, and made their way to the car waiting for them just outside the airport. Just before getting out of the plane, Felix worried about Sae-Jin : how was she going to get to the airport ?

Sae-Jin must have read his mind, for she gently placed a hand on his arm. Her touch surprised him and made him dizzy, rather like their first kiss. After all, even though they'd been together for a few days and had already embraced several times, Felix felt that every time he touched her, it was a new first time. He felt simultaneously excited, happy and weird inside.

- Don't worry about me, she murmured, giving him a gentle smile. I'm all better now.

- I love your smile, he couldn't help saying.

His remark made her smile a little wider and her cheeks rosy ; it also lightened the mood between them, and they got off the plane hand in hand, masks on their faces, crossing everything they could so that no one would recognize Felix.

Luck was on their side, and they made it to the car without a hitch. Once in the back seat, they both breathed a sigh of relief.

- Well, it's a good thing it wasn't too crowded today, sighed Felix, fastening his seatbelt.

- Did you have a good trip ? Asked their driver, a member of the staff.

Felix nodded and smiled.

- Yes, we did. Thanks for picking us up !

- My pleasure, it's my job after all. I'll take you straight to the set. We don't have time to go through the apartment for you, Mademoiselle. You'll have to wait until the end of the shoot tonight. explained the driver as he drove off.

Sae-Jin gave Felix a panicked look. She'd understood that the driver had addressed her, but the rest was gibberish without a name.

- Don't worry, Lix answered for her, discreetly taking her hand to reassure her. Sae-Jin will stay with us. It'll give him time to get used to Korean. he joked, before translating what he'd just said into English so that Sae wouldn't feel left out.

- No problem. The script's in the left-hand door, added the driver, before concentrating on his driving.

- Thanks for your time.

He spent the rest of the journey reading the script for their new video shoot, and Sae-Jin even ended up discreetly resting her head on his shoulder and closing her eyes. All his emotions since they'd left must have drained all his energy, Felix guessed as he glanced at him. He couldn't help smiling at her. He thought she was cute, with her hair falling in front of her eyes. At last, she seemed soothed and calm, and this warmed Felix's heart.

It was still hard for him to realize that they were together ; the last twenty-four hours had finally given them no respite, only for them both to be able to do something together.

His mind dropped the line he was reading and he glanced out of the car window. He doubted he'd have much time for Sae now that he was back in Korea. Was he going to find some time for them to have some time just the two of them ? Felix would take her to her favorite places, and show her around the city. They could go to Jeju too, to see the sea. Had Sae ever seen the sea ? Had she ever been there ? There was still so much he didn't know about it !

- Sae ? We've arrived. Lix whispered in my ear.

I blinked. We're here ? I hadn't even realized I'd fallen asleep, and we were indeed parked in an unfamiliar parking lot.

- I'll get out, but if you'd rather stay in the car, I'll let the driver know. Lix continued gently.

I smiled and shrugged.

- The last thing I want to do is bother you about your shoot, I explained. I was going to learn Korean anyway. Do you think it's rude if I stay in the car ?

- No, especially as not everyone needs to know about us ; I'll introduce you to the guys when we're done tonight !

He smiled at me, a gleam of impatience in his eyes. I returned his smile and urged him to go, as I could see at least three people waving out of the car window. He leaned over and gave me a kiss on the cheek before driving off with a smile on his face. When the door closed, I still had a smirk on my face, and I couldn't wipe it off.

- Lix !

Felix stepped forward and took JiSung and Chan in his arms.

- Hi guys ! Glad to have you back !

- How are you ? How was your flight ? Chan asked, smiling at him.

- Yes, yes, everything went well.

- We don't care about that ! JiSung cut in, patting Felix on the arm. I heard you didn't come alone... He added, lowering his voice. Where's Miss Without A Word ?

Felix burst out laughing as ChangBin, HyunJin and JeongIn reached them.

- Miss Without A Word ? He asked to hide his embarrassment. Who came up with that ?

- Don't look at me like that, it's not me ! Chan defended himself with a laugh.

- No, it's JiSung, snapped JeongIn in the same amused tone.

- Hey, I was only joking.

- I'm sure it was, reassured Felix. But the nickname doesn't suit him anymore. He commented, unable to hide his pride.

His friends turned to him in surprise.

- No, they didn't !

- For real ?!

- Last time you said she didn't talk at all ?

Felix raised his hands, laughing, to calm everyone down.

- Oh dear, you'll attract attention.

- Don't worry, it's all the more suspicious when we're all calm, replied MinHo, joining their little group. So I hear you've found your soul mate, Lix ?

- Who found the soul mate ?

They all turned to the chief producer, who was looking at them with a smile, hands on hips. Felix felt his cheeks flush, and was at a loss for words. Fortunately, his friends saved his face before he could even think of an excuse.

- It's Felix, he's fallen in love with his beloved Australia and never wanted to leave, said JiSung, putting an arm around his friend's shoulders.

His remark made everyone laugh and relaxed Felix at the same time.

- Well, welcome back anyway, Felix, laughed the producer. Ready to get started ?
