''Holy...!'' I yelp as something jumps on me and jolts me out of my pleasant sleep. ''Surprise!'' Brinley grins from her position atop my stomach. I groan.
''You had to jump on me?''
''I tried to stop her.'' Ashalyn shrugs. I roll my eyes.
''Let me get dressed.. and then we can get breakfast.''
They not and I force myself out of bed and over to my messy suitcase. Finally I decide to put on a comfy outfit, because I'm lazy.
We head downstairs and I open the cupboard, searching for some good cereal. I spot a box on the highest shelf. I go on my tiptoes in an attempt to reach them, but It fails. I huff, crossing my arms.
''Fudge you, Ryker.'' Brinley giggles and grabs the box easily.
''Speaking of him, how are you and that hunk getting along?'' She ask and I roll my eyes again.
''Don't say something like that in front of him. It'll only inflate his already ginormous ego.''
''Why are you even at this giant mansion of house?'' Ashalyn asks, always the perceptive one.
''Mayby I should explain over a bowl cereal.'' I suggest.
After two bowls (each) of cereal, I have them at least partially convinced that I'm a werewolf. I know it's probably against some rule to tell them the truth, but in case you haven't already figured out. I don't necessarily listen to authority.
With perfect timing, Elison, stumbles into the kitchen joining the part, rocking the ''Just-rolled-out-of-bed-and-I'm-exhausted'' look. Clad in a pair of sweats and casual T-shirt that most likely serve as his pajamas, he draws the attention of my friends.
''Who is that?'' Brinley lets out a small whistle, the whistle gets Elison's attention as well.
As he turns his head towards us, sleepy at first. His gaze focuses on Ashalyn and he stiffens. ''Mine..'' He growls, and in the blink of an eye he's at her side. She stares up at him with wide eyes, clearly terrified and confused.
''Um.. what?'' Ashalyn squeaks, hugging herself nervously. She rocks back and forth in her chair, her small frame shaking.
''He's your mate Ashalyn.'' I help along her understanding. Apparently it was too much too soon, because ''Oh'' Is all she replies, and with that she faints, falling off her chair.
Fortunately, Elison manages to catch her. Elison runs out, claiming he'll take her to the pack doctor. As he runs out, Ryker strolls in. Wonderful..
''So.. '' Brinely begins, looking at me. I fear for what might come out of her mouth. ''It's just you, me, and this hunk over here.'' She jerks her thumb at Ryker. I smack my forehead, and Ryker grins.
''See? Someone here appreciates my good looks and charm.'' He says.
I shake my head in exasperation.
''I thought I told you not to inflate his ego anymore than it's already been inflated.''
''I couldn't resist.'' She shrugs. Ryker drapes an arm over her shoulder. A forceful growl erupts from within me, shocking both me and them.
''A little jealous, are we?'' Ryker smirks. I scoff at the very idea.
''You wish.'' I laugh. ''Bang her for all I care, bit if you junk-'' I move my gaze to his lower half, making sure he knows exactly what I'm referring to. ''-Is proportionate to your ego, you'll never fit.''
Strutting out of the kitchen, I make my best effort to be polite to my wolf.
Do you have a name?
Yes, my name is Cambria. Why? I drop the polite act.
So I know what to refer to you as when I yell at you for making a fool out of me!
Your mate should not be flirting with your friends. It's unacceptable, and I need to have a talk with Sawyer.
Sawyer?
That's the name of Ryker's wolf.
He's not my mate, he's yours. Right?
You and I are one. Ryker and Sawyer are on. We are all mates with each other.
That's literally one of the weirdest things I have ever heard.
Without realizing it, my aimless walking had taken me to the pack doctor. Eager to visit Ashalyn and see how she was doing, I enter. She's still unconscious, and Elison is sitting by her bed, and unmoving guard.
''Elison!'' I whisper-shout. His head jerks up, and he's ready to attack whoever dares disturb his vigil. ''Calm yourself.''
He relaxes once he sees it's me. ''Doctor said she's doing fine, and should wake any minute.''
''How can she even be your mate? She's a human!''
''Humans can be our mate.''
''So now I have to exile Brinley from seeing any werewolves ever again.'' I muse, tapping my chin.
''Finding your mate is wonderful!'' He stares down at Ashalyn lovingly. ''Don't take that opportunity away from her.''
''I don't want her, or Ashalyn, messed up in this crazy world! My parents aren't my real parents, my real parents are dead! I have to help lead on of the largest packs ever, and oh yeah, we're all werewolves!'' I shout.
''The one thing about werewolves is that we will, for the most part, treat our girls right. They're our mates, and if we hurt them, it hurts us. The same can't be said for human guys. So who would she really be safer with?'' He smirks, knowing he's put up a good argument.
''Fine. But you better treat Ashalyn right, or so help me-no, if you treat her wrong, it'll be you who's needing the help. If there's any of you left to help when I'm done with you. Got it?'' I say. He gulps. ''Yes.''
''Good.'' I return to my smiling face.
I light giggle catches my attention. Ashalyn is awake. ''Did you hear all that?'' I ask, face heating up.
