~Kimbriella POV~
''Ryker, no!'' With the same line, I plead, but this time Ryker shows no sign of backing down.
''No!'' Keenan scoffs. Ryker takes a threatening step toward him. ''O-okay.''
''Keenan!'' I screech, astonished at him giving up so easily.
''Kim, I can't date you with this-this-'' He searches for the right word to describe Ryker. ''This absolute maniac, this psycho, controlling your every move. I'm sorry.''
With that cowardly statement, he walks into the safety of his house, walking out of the house first, and slamming it forcefully in Ryker's face. When I'm halfway to the car, I hear the door open again. I keep walking, past the house, past the car.
''Kimbriella, stop.''
I almost laugh at the fact that he thinks I would actually listen to him. Instead of arguing with me, I feel strong arms, arms that I recognize as his, wrap around me.
''Let me go.'' I mumble. But my voice lacks conviction, and he simply scoops me up with ease, carrying me to the car and depositing me in the passenger seat. In a last half hearted attempt at escape. I try to open the door. Of course, it's locked. As the full weight of the situation hits me -I'm single- I feel the burning of tears welling in my eyes. This detail does not go unnoticed by Ryker.
''Kimbriella-''
Anger bubbles up in me, and I force the tears from my eyes, refusing to let him see me cry. ''Ryker, just shut up. Don't you dare say another word to me during this car ride or I swear to you, on my dead mother's grave, it will be your last.''
Thankfully he takes the hint, closing his mouth and driving in silence.
When we reach the pack house, I exit the car.
''Don't slam the-''
I slam the door with so much strength that the entire car shudders, and the window of my door actually shatters. ''-door.''
''Ryker, you had no right to do that. None.''
''You having a boyfriend while being my mate was entirely unacceptable. It shamed you, it shamed me, and it reflected badly on our pack.''
''You could've at least attempted to discuss this with me before taking matters into your own hands. If I'm supposed to be your Luna, your equal, don't you think you consult me?''
''You were the one who stole my keys and ran off this house!''
''You were the one who followed me to the movies!''
''You were the one who stole my keys to the car to get to the movies!''
''You were the one who was being overprotective!''
''You were the one who -you know what? I'm not even going to argue with you. Mayby I should just take your advice and find a new mate.''
The words, though exactly what I had been hoping he would say for the longest time, hit me as if a sumo wrestler had just chucked an anvil at my face.
It hurt so much that I actually let out an audible whimper.
At this sound, his face softens and he does his best to backtrack. ''I'm sorry, you know I didn't mean that-''
The crack of my hand across his face halts him in a mid-sentence. Cursing myself for my weakness -a whimper? Really?- I stomp into the house, blowing past all who try to talk to me, shoving away Elison, Ashalyn, and even Brinley, whom I confide everything in.
Reaching my room, I don't slam the door for fear knocking it off it's hinges, but instead shut it semi-calmly, lock it, and sit on my bed, not shedding a tear, just rocking, and rocking, and rocking.
