''Why are you threatening my mate? A smile flits across her pale face.

''So I'm accepted?'' Elison's face brightens immediately.

''Ho.. ho ho!'' I interrupt Ashalyn. ''You can reject your mate?'' My head snaps in his direction.

''Uh, n-''

''Don't even give me that bullcrap. Tell me.''

''I don't think Ryker would be very-''

''As your future Luna, I command you to tell me.'' I demand, with a loud bark for emphasis. I feel a bit guilty for abusing my power, but ignoring the emotion.

''You say 'I', then your full name, 'hereby reject' and then their full name.'' He whispers.

''Thanks! See you later! Get well soon, Ash!'' I dash out of the room to find Ryker. He's still in the kitchen, with Brinley.

I know my friend would never try to take my mate away from me-not that I would mind it if she did- but this upsets Cambria. I can feel anger stirring around inside, a little jealousy.

'"Ryker!'' I feign excitement. ''I need to ask you something.'' Brinley tactfully excuses herself.

''What it is?'' He says, annoyed.

''What is your middle name?''

''Why is this-''

''Just answer the question.'' I narrow my eyes at him.

''Uh, Jared.''

''Thank you. I, Kimbriella Rae Canterbury, hereby reject you, Ryker Ja-'' He tackles me to the ground, shoving his hand over my mouth.

''WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?'' He roars. I roll my eyes again. Isn't it obvious? He removes his hand from my mouth so I can answer.

''Rejecting you. Duh.''

''No. You will not reject. Have you so soon forgotten that I would die for you? in the same way, I would die without you, slowly going insane, withering away. And you would do the same. So don't you dare even think about rejecting me ever again.''

I suddenly come to my senses, realizing that we haven't moved from our position on the floor. He's pinning me to the ground, on top of me. And all I want to do is... kiss him?

''Um, can you get off me?'' He doesn't move. ''Ryker?''

''I think it's time to prove to everyone that you're mine.'' He leans down, bending over me, eyes locked on my exposed neck.

''Ryker? What the heck are you doing?'' I try to stop him, but my arms are under his, being pressed against the floor by his strength and helped by gravity. Curse gravity.

''Biting you.'' He responds, eyes never moving from a spot on my neck. Creepy. He's still bent over me, his smell is making it difficult to think.

''What does that do?'' I stall for time.

''Show to everyone that you're mine. We'll have a mind connection link.'' He comes closer, brushing my hair away from the spot.

''Ryker, please no.'' I turn to pleading. ''If you do this without consent, I'll never forgive you.''

''Oh, just give it a minute. You'll want it.'' He hovers over me, teeth grazing my neck.

''R-Ryker.'' My voice hitches. When he replies, his voice is husky. ''Relax..''

''How can you even bite me without turning into your wolf?''

''It's a vampire-like thing. Only our teeth change. Our wolf knows what to do. Now stop stalling.''

Oh.. He figured that out. Him talking, lips pressed on my neck, makes me shiver. He sucks at the skin-how did he land exactly on my soft spot?- and to my horror, I let out a small moan.

At the sound, his teeth sharpen against my neck, incisors elongating. Another shivers wracks my body, this one of delight. At the moment, there seems nothing I want more for him to bite me, to mark me.

''Come on, Ryker!'' I encourage him, stretching my neck and exposing it further. His mouth opens wide, the moment right before the bite. And then... the doorbell rings.

He freezes, breathing heavily. Then stands up, getting off me. A strange sense of disappointment fills me, of longing.

He lets out a string of curses, going to answer the door.

''Hopkins Peach Farm. We're here with your order of peaches.'' Thank goodness for peaches. I sprint to the door, knowing Ryker will most likely slam it in their faces.

''I'll take them.'' Snatching the pound of packaged peaches from the lady. I smile, say thank you and shut the door.

''You.. ordered.. peaches?''

''Yeah. Just because you don't like them doesn't mean everybody else shouldn't have them.''

He runs a hand through his hair, mumbles a long string of expletives, and stomps away.

I go back to the kitchen and set the peaches on the counter. I open the back door. ''PEACHES FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS SOME!'' About a dozen people rush to the door, all wanting peaches-and wondering how the Alpha reacted.''

''How did you get him to agree to let these in?'' A random lady asks, awestruck.

''Um, he didn't take it so well.. he's upstairs right now. But we have peaches, and that's all that matters.''

I bite into a juicy peach, happy, but not.

I finger the spot in my neck carefully. I shouldn't want this... and yet I do. Sighing, I sit down in a chair, finish my peach. Hopefully Ashalyn will have better luck.
