~Kimbriella POV~

I move in to attack Ryan. I tear into his side with my claws, digging out flesh. He lets out an earsplitting howl, thrashing out in all directions and knocking both me and Kaden backwards. Decker tries to rejoin the fight, but Ryan sees him coming and whips around, biting him in the side.

Gushing blood, Decker whimpers and backs off. A noise outside alerts Kaden, Decker and I that something is up. We all glance out the window, keeping at least half an eye on Ryan at all times, who possesses a wolfish smirk.

It's the entirety of the Canterbury pack, preparing to run out to battle over what's actually a huge, terrible plot orchestrated by the evil soul of Ryan Homelock. I nod to Kaden and Decker to keep him occupied and dash upstairs.

Once I reach the walk-in closet, I shift, grabbing the first things that I see which fortunately happens to be semi-battle appropriate. Then I sprint back down, ignoring the living room battle and running outside as quickly as possible. It seems stupid to pause this potentially destructive-no, life threatening-situation to put on clothes, but this is a job I need to do as a human.

While hoping I don't get killed. When I get outside, the whole pack is already gone. Great. Looking instinctively to the right, I see Ryker's pack-my pack- in the near distance, and closing in the other direction, the Canterbury pack- also sort of my pack- ready to battle it out.

Which means I have pretty much no time.

Lungs burning, I pump my legs and arms faster than seems possible as I sprint to prevent this deadly battle.

~Ryker POV~

I send rapid-fire instructions through the mind-link about the impending battle. But movement out of the corner of my peripheral vision catches my attention. My head immediately snaps in that direction, and it's.... Kimbriella? Without any consent of my brain, which perhaps temporarily malfunction, mt legs swerve to cut in front of everyone and avoid the oncoming attack, instead taking me directly to her.

I can faintly hear her calling something to me. It's sounds like.. ''Get on your back and let me ride you.'' Well that was forward, I glance around. Why would she want too.. mate.. when so many wolves were present. Nonetheless, my hormones begin to rampage a little bit out of control.

That is, until I hear what she is actually saying. "Let me get on your back and ride you.''

Oh. Well, that was misinterpreted. I'm glad she doesn't see me blushing, though you can't tell, what this girl does to me, I mourn silently.

''Whipped.'' My wolf snickers.

As I bend over for her to leap onto my back, relishing the feel of her again, the scent of her. My wolf, Sawyer, sighs in happiness.

''GOOOOO!'' She creams in my ear, snapping me out of my elation and reverie. I start forward. ''To the Dang Battle!''

What? No way was I taking her into battle. She must notice my hesitation, because she whacks my ear and kicks my sides as if she's riding a horse. ''You have to trust me! Hurry up!!''

I oblige, however reluctant I am on the inside, sprinting forward at top speed to the very center where the battle is about to take place.

We end up, in the very center of the two sides that are about to converge on us and shred us to pieces. Kimbriella launches herself off me and... into the very heart of the battle. I'm about to panic and rush in to snatch her back she raises her voice.

''STOP!'' This is the most power I have ever heard poured into one word. This single word is so commanding, even I am almost overcome with the sudden urge to submit. Dang, she was powerful. Everyone freezes, not shifting an inch.

''This whole thing is a mistake. Ryan forced me to lie to all of you. Ryker is not abusive mate, and I love him.''

My insides to some weird things at this statement, making me want to go tho her. Right now.

''Nor were they the ones who killed my parents. That was the doing of Ryan Homelock, and I have two witnesses beside myself to prove this, if you wish to hear their testimonies. It's Decker and Kaden, the Betas of the Canterbury pack, who's parents were also murdered by the same man.''

Wild murmurs spread like wildfire among both packs. ''So back off, there will be no battle.''

And I totally agree. That is, until a bloody, wounded wolf sidles up next to me. And slashes my side with his claws, deeply. I howl in pain and stumble away. Kimbriella's eyes widen with recognition.

''Ryan.'' She whispers, fury attached to the very name of the man. To my surprise, wolves from both packs flood in to defend me, and surround him. When they finally back away, all that remains is a disgusting bloody pulp.

Kimbriella walks slowly over to me. My fur bristles in excitement with anticipation. She stands next to me, hand on the base of my neck.

''Everyone meet at the Aldaine pack house. From this moment forward, though we'll make it official later, the land of both packs are fair game to all.''

A howled cheer breaks out among both packs, an invisible bonding moment, a step toward erasing decades of hatred. As my gorgeous mate shifts into her light gray wolf, a perfect compliment to my dark gray color, I have a sudden urge to propose to her again.

Lost in thought, I fail to notice she walks on ahead without me. Shaking my head, I follow her like a lost puppy, dreaming of the future.
