~Kimbriella's P.O.V.~
Slamming the door behind me, I immediately get out the makeup kit. Fortunately, everything is full, since I rarely use it for anything except special occasions, which happen next to never. Taking out the blush brush, I stab into some tan powder, then rub it onto my neck, covering it. After a moment, my neck starts to burn. Freaking out a little bit, I dash out of the room and back into the bathroom, where Ryker still stands. I ignore him, quickly turning on the faucet and splashing water on my neck. The entire handful of water evaporates into smoke, and the searing pain in my neck cools a little bit. ''Note to self, don't do that.'' I say, a bit breathlessly. Ryker chuckles, and I turn to face him.
''What?'' He asks, cocky little smirk on his face, eyes fixed on my neck. Probably admiring his ''handiwork''.
''You are just asking to be slapped again.''
His eyes widen a little. ''Please don't.''
''What the heck is this?'' I gesticulate wildly in the general direction of my neck. ''That's a mark.''
''I'm not stupid.'' I growl. ''What does it do?''
''It tells everyone that you're my mate. See, the blotch faded around the edges, and it's turning into our pack crest, the lone wolf gazing at the sunrise. It will become silvery color.'' He explains. narrow my eyes, examining it in the mirror. ''Right when we start to get along, you have to go and ruin it.'' I spit.
''So you're saying you didn't enjoy that?'' He raises an eyebrow.
''I-'' Unable to come up with a rebuttal, Ryker pounces on the weakness. ''You can't, can you?''
''Yeah. Your moan was my favorite part.'' I reply sarcastically. The kind of joy that comes as a product of making him happy.
''Uh, well.'' He blushes. ''You caught me by surprise.''
''There's a lot more where that came from.'' I declare, winking seductively. Realizing that I'm deviating from the argument, I become serious again. ''The point is, I wasn't ready for this yet, but the point is that you are in so much trouble I can't even tell you.''
''Oh.'' He stares at me, expressionless. ''I am so afraid. What are you going to do, seduce me into doing everything you want?''
''While it is proven that this does indeed work.'' I respond, making him blush again. ''You have about two days left.''
''You see, about that...'' He itches the back of his neck sheepishly.
''What? WHAT?'' I demand.
''When the mate bond is completed.'' His eyes flicker to my neck. ''You won't be able to spend much time away from me without physically hurting you.''
''I rather experience a lifetime of hurt and pain than have to life with you.'' I hiss bitterly. ''You don't mean that.'' He murmurs slowly.
''Actually I do.'' We're mates, You have to love me.''
''No! I don't! Do you understand nothing? I'm water, you're oil, we are immiscible. IM-MI-SCI-BLE. WE DO NOT MIX.'' I'm expecting him to get all angry. But instead he says.. ''Deny it all you want.'' He smirks, grabbing me and pulling me roughly to his lips. We haven't really kissed, so this explosion of everything stuns me.
Our lips are locked, moving in perfect sync. Traitorously, my heart flutters. This is the kind of passion that I'd thought only existed in books, in movies, in places that weren't my life. As this occurred, I had forgotten that Ryker was pretty much wolf in everyway. As I grab onto the outside of his shirt, fisting in my hands, he does the same, except giving a strong tug. My thin tank top rips off, and he pounces on the exposed skin, his hands running up and down my sides, leaving tingles in their wake.
''Ryker, stop it!'' I shove him away, furious with him just as much as me. After a bit his eyes return to their brown color, helping me relax a bit. Noticing my half-naked state, he bites his lips and takes a bit of time to scan my body.
''Leave.'' He growls, pointing at the door. I cough in surprise.
''Excuse me?''
''Get out! Now!''
''But why-''
''If you don't leave in the few seconds, you will be in the middle of a Ryker and counter top sandwich sometimes very soon.'' He growls, his voice unusually low. When he meets my eyes again to let me know he's serious, they are the same block color they were earlier.
''Um, bye.'' I wave quickly and shut the door behind me, breathing heavily and desperately trying to proceess what had just happened. So I had slapped him, said it wasn't going to work and then we were making out? And the we- we what? Almost went all the way? Sure seemed like he wanted. You did too. My wolfs snaps inside my head. No, you did. Not me. I argue. You're reason I'm having these stupid feelings anyway. Cambria takes offense to that. Stupid? The mate bond is NOT stupid. She growls.
I dismiss her rudely, finishing my train of thought. I did not want that with Ryker. I wanted to wait until we were married - and I definitely wasn't ready for that commitment. Whoa, wait -I don't even like him!
''Argh!'' I mutter aloud, tugging on my hair. I wanted to straighten things out -but I obviously didn't want to approach Ryker right now. I wander downstairs aimlessly and headed to the library. Sighing deeply, I notice long brown hair the same color as Ryker's, falling gentle waves over the back of a comfortable looking chair. Ryker's mom, I realize suddenly.
An idea hits me as rapidly as the first realization. Mayby she could clarify some things. With this purpose in my mind, I speed up my pace, heading for the chair circle. Lowering myself, I clear my throat to get her attention. her head snaps up. ''What? Sorry?'' Her eyes light up when she sees me. ''Kimbriella! I've heard so much about you!''
''Hi Mrs. Aldaine.'' I begin. Here goes nothing.
People I'm back from Czech! Tomorrow I'll be making chapters for Immiscible and Through Dark Eyes.
