I awake days later feeling better then I have been in the past few weeks, years, whatever I felt great. I sat up and sow the sun rising throw the window. “How do you feel?” I turned and sow Destin smiling at me as he sat on the bed warring Scooby - Doo boxers.
“I feel great ready to take on anything.” I watched him standing and putting on a white t-shirt that read, “I use to be your type but I got help.” blue jeans that where in a dresser next to the closet.
“May be we should see if Nicolas is all right.”
I stopped holding a single pare of white socks in my hand and turned to Destin.
“Do you think he might be mad at me?” he turned to stared at me
“What? Why would you think that?”
“He mite thinks I abounded him because I was not with him the past week or so.” I said staring down at the socks in my hand.
“Don’t think that way.” Midnight stared at me from the bed.
“You should lesson to Midnight he understands.” Destin came up behind me
“You can hear him?” I asked somewhat surprised
“It douse not take much to lessen you just have to stay quiet and open your mind.” he put his arm around me and pulled my close to him. I looked up at his smooth tan skin as he smiled at me he stared at me with his blue eyes.
“You should get something to eat.” I noted yes and we left the room and made are way down to the kitchen.
I did not meet up with Nicolas tell about noon when I sow him sitting under a tree with a book in his hand and Scarlet laying on the grass next to him. I walked over and sat down next to him and peered over at the book. “The history of the society.” It read I snatched the book from him and he stared blankly up at me. “Is your wand working?” he looked away from me. “Lesson I am sorry I have not been around for the past week but you are still my apprentice.” he looked up at me.
“Riken said that you could not handle me so he wants me to be his apprentice.”
“HE WHAT!” I yelled jumping to my feet dropping the book to the ground
“He said that you are still to untrained to have an apprentice.” Said Nicolas I was angry, upset, and really pissed.
“I will have to talk to Riken.” I handed Nicolas back the book and walked in side. I found Riken in the living room talking to the short man from the party and his apprentice a young man with white hair and brown eyes sat next to the fire place, a gray and white wolf, and black almost blue wolf, and a thin black cat with blue eyes where laying on the rug in front of the fire.
“What is this about Nicolas not being my apprentice?” I snapped the room went quiet as Riken turned to me.
“You are being rood and disrespectful. I would have thought that Tilley thought you some respect.” he turned to me with a glass in his hand. I took a deep breath
“I’m sorry to have interrupted. Pleas for give me.” I said with a slight bow “I need to speak with you a moment sir.” remembering that this is his house and he can easily throw us all out.
“Very will. What for me in my audience chamber and I will be up there shortly.”
“Yes sir. Sorry for interrupting.” I bowed and left the living room and went up to his audience chambers and whetted for him to enter. It seemed like several hours when he finally came in and saw me standing there.
“Pleas sit.” Riken sat down in front of his fireplace he sat down next to me on the soft red recliners he had in his room. “Lesson I know that you are the boy’s teacher, but I don’t think you our ready to train him. You seem to be lacking experience, patients, and the ability to use more then four spells in a day. I am not trying to be hard on you but if you would I would like to train you up a little more before I can send you out.” I was shocked but not too surprised.
“What do you mean send me out?”
“There are some things we have to deal with on a daily basses.”
“Like that beast I fought near the park?” he looked at me
“Yes that was one of them. I almost forgot you took care of that. Anyway if I could have a month or two to train you then Nicolas will be all yours to train, but until then I will take care of the boy.” I thought it was a good idea that could help me create stronger spells.
“Very will I accept your help, sir.”
“Good you might need to use Destin more often. Once we start I need you to be ready. It will not be easy I will work you hard.”
“Yes sir I understand.”
…………………………………………………………..
The dissection I made that day I regretted for the next several months. Riken worked me like a dog. “Present company accented.” I thought as Midnight gave me a sourer look. He made me do spell after spell after spell I got to the point where I can do about a hundred in a day before I passed out. Riken was impressed but that did not make him go easy if anything it made it worse he would push me hard. After he was throw with me he would throw me to Destin and then pick me back up the next day to start over again.
After a long day at the end of June I sat on the grass sweating and stared at my shaking hands. I tried to get up but my lags protested so loudly I could not hear what Riken was telling me. He came up to me from across the yard and knelt down in front of me. “Kate are you ok?” I fell back to my back and stared at the sky tell all went dark.
I awoke num I could not feel a thing as I stared at the window as the sun came streaming in. “Kate can you hear me?” came a voice I heard the voice I could not answer and did not recognize it everything went dark after that.
A voice came from the darkness and at me like cold fingers digging into me. “Child of Light heir us.” The two stone figures from the Field came to me I felt Midnight at my left side.
“I’m here.” the two stone figures stood before me once again.
“We need you to go take the boy and leave the place you are at. You are no longer safe there leave now!” they yelled which throw me out of a deep sleep to a bright room. I stood up and went looking for Nicolas. I found him eating with Destin, Riken, and Thomas sitting at a table they turned to me as I entered.
“Are you all right?” asked Riken as they looked up and down at me.
“We have to leave now.” my whole body felt cold and my head was starting to spin.
“Kate what are you talking about?” asked Riken,
“Can’t talk must leave now.” my feet gave out and I met the carpet. Destin came over and help me to sit up. “We must leave.”
“Kate take a deep breathe, and tell us what’s going on.” said Destin,
“No! No time must leave not safe.” I tried to get up Destin took his shirt off and put it over my head that is when I realized I was not warring anything. “We have to go.” I looked up at Destin then at Riken who came over he looked me in the eye and he lowered his defense to show me his sole I had no choose I could not rest and my defenses fell as will. It was the strangest thing ever seeing everything that he haves ever seen coming at me all at once. I was better then him there were barriers that he could not enter. He came out sweating his eyes where moving everywhere. I on the other hand did not get affected that bad just a little dizzy but I was all ready that
“Where leaving.” Riken stood
“So you believe me?” I asked looking up at him.
“Thomas get the van I will get Stephen you three take the wolves and get in my van it’s safer then that car of yours Destin now move!” Riken yelled and with in minuets we where all piled in his van.
Thomas was driving, Riken sat next to him, Destin and I sat in the bench facing the door while Nicolas, Stephen and his apprentice Eric took the back seat all are familiars and Scarlet took the floor between me and the door except Eric’s cat that sat on his lap. “What’s the rush?” asked Stephen and we drove out of the drove way he looked at me in just a t-shirt laying on Destin’s lap. Midnight lied right below me so my hand could rest on his head.
“The guardians of the field told us to leave.” Said Riken not mentioning it was me who told them.
“The guardians but that is odd they don’t normally interfere with our world.” Said Stephen as he looked up at Riken “Trust me if they wont us to leave I will not argue.” He said I snickered at that and Riken gave me a hard look as he turned around to us when suddenly, when we no more then a block away, when this huge explosion came from behind us making us stop and turn to face the back window of the van. To our shock we sow a large fireball rise into the blue sky. We stared in shock at the Riken turned to me and came over to sit before me.
He looked at me “Thank you.” He said then went to look out the back.
“My house I liked that house.” He said,
“What do you think happened?” asked Stephen
“I have no idea, but at least we all got out all right.” Riken said He bent down and petted a large wolf that looked almost blue in color then returned to his seat.
“Thomas we have to go to the save house. It’s the only place I can think of at the moment.” Said Riken,
“What about my father?” Riken looked at me then thought for a moment
“We can go to my house it’s the safest place I know of.” Said Destin I looked up at him and he smiled down at me as he gently stroked my neck with his fingertips.
“Very will that mite be a better place at the moment.” Said Riken Destin gave them the address to a two-story house by the airport.
We parked in the grudge and entered the dark living room. Destin walked over and turned on a tall black lamp that sat in the corner on the room. The room had a couch that took up the far corner a table sat in the center and a TV stand agents the wall from the door we entered at are right to are lift was the kitchen and dining room leading out to a large back yard with a pool and grass areas. Next to us was a set of stirs leading up to the second floor.
“This place is a mess.” Said Stephen as he walked in and notice that they’re where clause everywhere and the kitchen was a mess.
“Give me a break it’s not like I been home in several months.” Destin opened the back door to let the wolves out and some fresh air in. Nicolas went out side with Scarlet.
“There is soda and bear in the fringe. There is four rooms upstairs the farthest one is mine you can decide who sleeps where.” Destin ran water in the sink the others went and sat down on the couch. I stayed next to the door and looked out the window next to it. Out side was a small patio that sat between the door to the garage and the house. It had a table and two chars made of white panted metal. An iron gate was closed to the outside. Their where grape vines all over providing shade. Destin came out and looked at his answering machine that sat next to his phone on the wall between the kitchen and living room.
“Pleas do me a fever and don’t answer the phone there are some people that will be very upset with me if they find out I have any member of the society here.” He said,
“Don’t worry Destin we will stay out of your way.” Riken turned the TV on.
“Kate you can stay with me.” Destin I noted yes.
“You let the boy be with you to Kate should start to train him since he haves the basics down.” Said Riken I looked out and sow Nicolas come back in and over to Destin.
“Do you have any water there very thirsty?” Nicolas came in from the back yard
“There is a bucket in the garage and the water from the sink is filtered.” Destin walked over to me. “Come there is some thing I want to show you.” I follower him up stairs.
A skylight that was overhead lighted up the hall. We walked to the far room, which he opened. It was dark almost pitch black. He opened the window and it revealed a large room broken up into three parts. A queen size bed sat agents the wall over to the far right side next to the bathroom. To our left was a couch and table sitting in front of a TV stand and next to a balcony overlooking the pool below. A closet and dresser sat next to us on the left. “What do you think?” Destin turned to with a smile
“I like it.” He walked over to the dresser and pulled out a light blue t-shirt and blue shorts.
“This should fit it mite be a little big though.” He handing it to me along with a pair of socks and underwear.
“Thank you but why do you have all this?” his face went red as he turned to me.
“I had a wife and daughter they died years ago when the vampires coursed a war agent the society. I was just a kid my self at the time.” He sat down on the bed. “You should take a shower. I was going to order pizza is that ok?”
“Yes that’s fine.” he stood and left the room.
I took a nice much needed long worm shower. A few minuets into it I turned to see Midnight pock his head in. “There is pizza downstairs.” He liked his lips.
“Thank you. Did you want to take a shower to?” I asked,
“Sheer.” He said and walked into the shower.
After the shower we dried off, dressed, and went down stairs. When I reached the bottom step some one knocked on the door causing me to jump about three feet. I turned to the window and I sow that it was dark outside and a tall skinny man warring a black suite stood in front of the door. He looked down at me with his gray colored eyes. He had short white hair and was clean-shaven he seemed no more the thirty years old. He had a white band across his neck.
I opened the door holding my wand at my side. “Can I help you?” he looked down at me I could feel him trying to get in to my head but I keep my defenses up.
“I am here to see a man.” He said is a deep study voice he had a weird undertone not too much different then Destin’s voice.
“I can’t help you if you do not tell me who you are looking for.”
“He goes by the name of Destin.” Said the man his voice did not waver.
“So what’s your name so I can tell him you are here?” he just stared at me
“Tell him Morgan is here.”
I closed the door and walked over to the others I sow Destin taking a coke out of the fringe he opened the can and looked at me. “There is a Morgan at the door for you.” Destin froze and dropped the can of soda in the floor.
