We walked down the street to Bonanza and turned right the streets were empty. We continued to Las Vegas blvd. and turned left to at the seven eleven. “Some thing douse not seem right?” said Destin I turned to him and looked up and down the street there was no one.
“That is odd, where is everyone?” Nicolas looked as will
“There should be at least one person on the street?” he asked
“Ya that’s what scares me.” the air was getting cold and humid. I looked up at the sky and sow no clouds. “I don’t like this.” I looked around, pulled out my wand, and scanned the streets. “Keep your eyes open there might be someone around.” we continued down the street to the museum. The feather we went the colder it got.
“Their here.” Sasha got very novice and bared her head in my arms. I turned and sow nothing and turned around and sow two men with staffs coming tours us. I turned back around and sow three more coming to us.
“Say close.” I watched them came running up to us.
“Who are you?” the men stopped and one of then came closer to us. Their staffs started to glow as they spared out around us.
“Nicolas there is a piece of chock in my left shoe uses it to create a circle around you and Destin.” I ordered
“Yes ma’am.” He did as he was told. I handed him Sasha and closed the circle. Midnight and I stayed out side Midnight grilled at the men as he near.
“Who are you?” I asked He was tall with black hair and blue eyes.
“Kate? Right?”
“Who are you?”
“My name is not important.”
“You can’t continue this way.” his staff was glowing as will as the others around us.
“Why should I believe you?” I pointed my wand at him
“Believe why would you dough us.”
“We have reason to believe that there are certain people that are trying to separate familiars from there wizard.” I said
“Really that is not good. We have been tracking some men who are coursing trouble for us.” He said I was confused and looked at him.
“What?”
“Tell us something that will make sheer you our not one of them?”
“Why should I believe you? You could be one of them that are trying to hurt us.” I was not going to back down I wonted to make sheer my wand was at the ready.
“True very will then why don’t we lower are defenses and talk.”
“You first since there are more of you then us.”
“Very will. Lower your staffs.” they did as they where told.
“Now you Kate.” I lowered my wand.
“How do you know my name?”
“I was told by Melvyn that you where headed this way.” He came to stand only feet from me. He was tall and warring the same uniform as Melvyn.
“So why are you hear?” he turned to Sasha
“We had reports that some one was taking familiars.”
“Yes I know Sasha was found several blocks from here she told us what happened.” I could see that he was not trying to hide anything from me and that he was very strong for his age and did his best to be the strongest and that he is a fare leader. I looked around at his men and they all looked up to him as a leader.
I reached back and dropped the circle around Nicolas and the others.
“You should leave it’s too dangerous to be around here at the moment.” He said,
“Not until I find out what’s going on.”
“Do what you like but this street is closed there is something odd going on and it’s to dangers for you to be here.”
“I will take my chances.” I looked down the street. Just then this ice-cold breeze came at us from the north the same direction as the museum. We turned and there in the middle of the street appeared this huge boar like beast with large sharp tusks and leathery skin.
“Not another one.” Said the men next to me “Everyone at the ready”
“You three better get back.” He said and we walked over to the seven eleven to get out of their way.
“They mite need are help.” Said Nicolas,
“HA! Magic want work directly you need to use elemental to contain him.” I shouted at them they understood and created an ice cage to contain the beast them returned the beast back to where he came from. The man came over to us and stood before me.
“My name is Nick sorry about earlier but we have been dealing with these types of beasts all morning,” said the man who led this group.
“That’s understandable.”
“Where are those beasts coming from?”
“We are not sheer there could be a whole some where but we can’t seem to find it.” Nick said looking down the street.
“We sent word to Riken but he haves not arrived yet.” He continued, as he looked the other way up the street. That is when we heard this popping sound coming from a spot next to us. We watched as a puller of smock rose next to us. It cleared to show Riken, Stephen, Thomas, and Eric standing there facing us.
“Riken.” Nick as he bowed.
“Good afternoon Nick what’s going on?” Riken turned to me.
“There our theses beasts that keep coming we closed off the street but they’re still appearing. Some of us think there is a whole in the barer.” Explained Nick,
“Really.” Riken came to stand in front of me.
“What do you think Kate?” Riken asked I looked up at him.
“I think some one is trying to hide something.”
“And what makes you think that?” asked Stephen as he looked down at me.
“That’s easy Sasha said some one took here and two other familiars away from the person they are bound to as they where visiting the museum.” I explained,
“I wonder if that is why we can’t get throw. Las Vegas blvd. is blocked all the way to Owens as will as all the side streets. Every time we try to go down the street one of throws beasts get throw. We had to even block off Main and Bruce as will.” Nick said as another boar like beast came tours us which was stopped by Nick’s men.
“What’s in this area?” asked Stephen
“Cashman Field, Fantasy Park, Lions Memorial Park, and Woodstown Cemetery there all with in a block.” Said Nick,
“A cemetery could this be a Necromancers work?” Stephen turned to me,
“I hope not I don’t think we can deal with the undead at the moment.” Riken looked down the street. I looked down the street and this fog came up and engulfed are view of the area.
“That might be but why take three familiars?” I asked holding Sasha in my arms. They looked at me
“What do you mean?” Riken turned to me
“I mean why someone would go to all the trouble to create all of this mayhem, and take three familiars just to raze the dead. There haves to be more.” they thought for a few minutes and turned to the fog.
“We might be in trouble if these events are connected, but we could be in bigger trouble if they are not.” Riken looked at the fog
“What is your orders sir?” Nick questioned as he came up to Riken
“You and your men keep everyone away from this area if anyone comes out let me know at once. Stephen, you and Eric find the missing familiars Sasha can help you with that.” He said Nick bowed and gave orders to his men as he walked off. Stephen took Sasha from me and walked off with Eric.
I turned back to the fog and saw a dark shadow walked throw followed by two other men. They vanished as I watched them.
Riken then turned to me “I need you to take Nicolas to the field he can’t be running around with out a Familiar it’s to dangerous.” Riken pointed at Nicolas
“Yes sir.” I said and we walked away from Riken and the others back tours the south part of the city.
“I am not sheer if I am ready for this?” asked Nicolas
“Riken is right you need a familiar especially now.” I looked at him and watched Riken walked with the others.
“But why!” he snapped at me.
“Lesson.” I snapped back as I turned to him “A familiar will help protect you agents the magic of others as will as a warning. It’s splashily important now with everything that is going on around us.”
“But I am not sheer I am ready.”
“Don’t wary you will be fine.”
We made are way to the field located behind an old building that I have not been used since we where attacked by a large beast that killed several of my classmates years ago. We made are way throw the vines and over grown bushes to the back yard where the field sat in its entire splendor.
There in the dark stood a large stone wall reaching as height as the closes buildings around us. Sitting in the wall sat a large heavy ancient gate carved with every type of animal that ever was carven in the heavy dark wood. If you did not know better you would think they where alive and moving.
Destin and Midnight stayed back as I lead Nicolas closer to the gate. The statues stood there on either protecting the gate from any intruder. The human like figures hidden by the carved blood red caps that hanged over there frames. There protected color coding haves been chipped and fated over time to reveal the gray stone underneath. Where there once was faces are now hidden by time it self only to show only darkness. Each held a tall wooden like staff in front of them with either a white or black stone on top.
“Who are they?” Nicolas looked at me as he stood next to me.
“There the gardens of the field and protectors of time itself. There were twelve at one time to show the twelve tribes of the old cancel but now there is only two.” we neared them.
“This is the field.” There voices echo throw out the cave. They were speaking in unison “It haves always been it will always be. We are the guardians the protectors of time. Do not enter with fear. For you will find your other half and become whole once more. Have no fear we are the guardians and protectors of time. We are the brother to sky and the sister to earth. It is here that one will be part of the many and all will join in the great tribe of time.” They said as the voice came closer to the statues. “Here you will learn to be one.”
“What do they mean by tribe?” I had to smile at Nicolas question as I stared at the statues
“The tribe is like a family every one of us no mater if you’re an animal or human we are all one under the sky. We could be good, bad, loving, or hate full it douse not mater because we are one. The guardians teach us this by binding us to a familiar. We have to care, learn, and teach one another in all aspects of life itself. That way we are closer to each other then those that are not bound.” I looked down at Nicolas and he seamed worried as he moved from foot to foot.
“You mean like a master and apprentice?”
“Yes in a way we are bound to each other. In side this field you will find your companion your other half.” I put my hand on his shoulder.
The heavy gates opened with the sound of stone crushing stone the field lay just ahead hidden behind the veil of darkness and fear. A mist started to spill out surrounding us. Inside we could see the darkness and a gold path stretching before us leading away from the gate to the field just beyond our vision.
“I don’t want to go in there.” Nicolas took a step back
“It haves always been it will always be.” the guardians moved there hands to point to the opening.
“I don’t see a Field.” Said Nicolas as fear took hold of him.
“You know it’s there.” I knelt before him, “You know that place you have see it dreamt about it your whole life. Remember that dream with the tallest mountains, the softest grass, the coldest snow, and the hottest sun it’s in there, and you now this to be true. It sits just beyond the gate.” I watched him nod his understanding of what I said. “Ok go on.” I lightly pushed him tours the doors. He froze and up at me.
“Come with me?”
“I can’t you must go alone. I know you are scared but this is the very last time you will have to be alone. From now forward you will be bound.”
He swallowed hard and turned to the gate. Taking a deep breath he moved forward into the field. We watched as the doors closed behind him and so we what.
Destin came up to me. “How long will it take?” He asked as we stared at the gate
“That is up to him some times it takes days or hours.”
Destin came up to stand behind me and stroked the back of my neck. His touch calmed and soothed me into submission as he started cut small openings in my neck to take my blood. I turned to him and his eyes where glowing. I was relaxed that I lost all track of time.
I started to shiver uncontrollably as I opened my eyes and sow I was laying on the ground with Destin asleep next to me. I sat up and sow Midnight glaring at the gate.
“What’s wrong?” him he turned to me.
“Darkness.”
I sat up and it hit me with a jolt of pain throw my body like a train. I stated to scream it kept growing I tried to get it away from me but nothing helped.
“Something is wrong.” I felt a hand on my back as Destin sat up.
“What is it?”
“Something is terribly wrong.” I started to shake again as the pain grew and grew.
With out warning I heard a loud explosion and the wall of the field flew out in every direction at once. I looked up and sow a tall man with a long black staff and a deep dark blood red crystal on top standing between the field and us with a shield spell blocking the daubery from hitting us. I looked past the man and sow my one true fear my older brother standing in the center of a burnt grass hill holding a small black dragon in one hand and a sleeping Nicolas in the other.
I stood and started to walk to them. The man with the staff stopped me with his held out arms which held his staff in front of us. His making sere we do not break the shield. I do not remember him saying anything or drawing any thing around us. I was shaking like crazy using what strength I had to keep on my feet.
“BROTHER!” he looked down at me his face was dark and distant he was not him self. “What are you doing let him go!” I yelled he smiled coldly at me
“Tell me dear sister what would happen if I take the life blood out of a familiar?” his voice dark and deep I fought agents the staff but could not break free.
“NO you can’t it will kill him.” I watched as my brother did the worst thing possible to any human. He took the dragon by its neck and bit down on it’s through. I stood there helpless watching the horror before me as he drained it of its blood. “NO!” I yelled as the dragon went limp in his arms. I jumped to break the circle but the man grabbed me and held me ageist him and his staff. I struggled to get free of this man but with no luck. Nicolas started to glow and the three of them vanished leaving everything in darkness. “NO!” I screamed again and the man released me and dropped the circle. I clasped to my knees and cried. I black out from the anguish and pain of the horror I have just witnessed.
