an invitation

Every one turned to him “Are you ok?” asked Stephen from the table as he took a bite of a pepperoni pizza.
“Every one stay here I will be right back.” Said Destin as he passed me and went to the door. I followed close behind him
He opened the door and looked up at Morgan “What do you wont?’ he asked really irritated at the man being here.
“Master Drogues wishes to speck to you.” He handing Destin an envelope. I walked up to Destin and he turned to me. Destin opened the envelope and read the invitation that was inside. “Tell Drogues that I will need five passes.” Destin handed me the invitation. I took it and read “Dear Destin: You are invited to attend the Court of Blood voting for a new leader. You are to appear as the deciding vote if needed. Pleas inform Morgan on how many pass you will need to join you there will be a party after words that your invited to attend as will. It will take place at 10:00pm tonight at Cash men Field. Sincerely Count Jeffrey Cretaceous” I looked up at Destin and handed it back to him.
“Five why five?” asked Morgan,
“One for me, one for Kate, and the rest of my house”
“Very will you will have them before nightfall.” He bowed then left by jumping up to the roof and was gone.
Destin closed and locked the door then turned to me. “Will?”
“Riken will be upset if we take Nicolas with us.” Destin reached over and put his hand on my neck and pulled my necklaces out from under my shirt.
“Why do you where this thing?” he asked I looked down at the necklace. It’s a locked with two pink flowers engraved in the silver oval hanging from a silver chain on the back was a carved pentagram. Inside of the locked was a photo of my mother and father on one side, and my three brothers on the other.
“It haves the only pitcher of my mom that I own.” Destin stared at it then at me
“Is this real silver?”
“Yes.” I wondering what he was getting at
“Good make sure you do not take it off.”
“Why is that?” he moved his hand back to my neck.
“Because Vampires don’t like silver and its worse for them if you have something that is silver that you believe in.”
“You mean like a cross in the old movies?”
“Yes similar but any idem you have faith in will work just as will.”
“What about Nicolas?” Destin smiled at me
“He should come with us he will be safer there with us.”
“How do you figure that?” we turned and coming out of the shadow of the living room was Riken
“He will be safer at Kate’s side then here.” Destin said,
“I rather not have any of you leave it cold become too dangerous and we don’t even know who attacked us.” Riken said,
“I don’t have a chouse in this I value my life to much. That and I don’t have the backing of the society to keep me safe.” Destin turned to him
“And I am going with him.” I snapped at Riken he gave me a hard look but I did not back down I was no longer scared of him.
“Fine go but the boy stays here.” He ordered and walked to the dinning room with the others.
“I should find you a dress.” Destin went up stairs.
I went to the dinning room grabbed four slices of meat livers pizza and a can of root bear then walked side to sit on one of the patio chairs next to the pool. Midnight lay down next to me as we watched Scarlet and the two other wolves run in and out of the pool. Scarlet was getting big sitting her head came up to Midnights shoulder. I gave two pieces to Midnight and I eat the other two pieces. When I was done I stared up past the balcony of Destin’s room up to the stairs. “Are you all right?” I turned and sow Nicolas staring at me from the doorway. He walked over and sat down on the chair next to me.
“Yes I’m fine. How are you doing?” I looked over at him with pizza sauce around his mouth.
“Riken gets upset to easily he said that if I don’t have all the laws of magic memorized I would not be able to do any spells.” he put his head in his hands.
“Don’t worry there not that hard to remember. Ok what is the first law?”
“Do not kill.” He was looking up at me.
“Unless what?” he thought for a moment
“Unless you get attacked first.”
“Close unless your life is in danger. Now what’s the second law?” he just stared blankly at me
“I don’t remember.”
“Remember that we are different from everyone eels.”
“Oh don’t expose are world.” He said with pride
“Right now the third law.”
“Teach without pride.”
“No that’s the fourth whets the third?”
“Lead without force.”
“Right.”
“I always get though two mixed up.”
“Just remember you must lead before you can teach.”
“Now number five.”
“There is no light or dark to magic it’s all on how the person uses it.”
“Good it took me days to remember that one. Now law numbers six.”
“Use magic with honor.”
“Seven.”
“Respect your abilities and throws of others.”
“Number Eight.”
“Fallow all Binding laws.”
“Right.”
“Kate what douse it mean binding?” I turned to him.
“Binding is having a Familiar it’s both a blessing and a curse. They are great at giving you abilities for example if you are joined with a wolf you can speak with other mammals but you become exclusively a meat eater preferring wild game. Another problem is that those who try to join and are unable to fully connect will go nuts and try to kill everyone around them. A person who joins with a different type of animal like an Elvin Cat the wizard starts to have a taste for swimming and playing in the water like the cat douse. The down side to this is the fact that the animal changes the wizard in many ways and we change the animal we are joined with. This poses a problem we can get so attached with are Familiar that are pain, sorrow, and even death are sheared with them. That is why we must be careful and do are best to keep a serration distances from them. This is hard if you need to use them as a spy because your soul will be sheared with your Familiar down to your very core where every breath is sheared. That is what binding is.” I petted Midnights head that he placed it on my lap.
“Will I be able to bind to Scarlet?”
“No. Your first bindings will be done in the field. Any time after that you can choose what animal you want to bind to.”
“When can I do that?”
“September 2 if you are ready now number nine.”
“Do not fear what you can’t understand.”
“Good now ten one of my favorites.”
“That’s easy when in doubt run.” He said with a big smile on his face.
“Good now last two.” he thought for a minuet
“Respect your elders.”
“Manly because they can really heart you.”
“And help your fellow men.”
“See you know them all.”
“Yes, but I get confused.”
“Relax you will be fine.”
“But the test is tomorrow.” Nicolas said as he started to shake. I stood and took a deep breath and looked down at my feet.
“So it’s September all ready?”
“Yes.” I looked up and sow the moon as full as can be.
“Respect your abilities and throws of others.”
“So you think I will be able to pass?” I turned to him with a smile
“I have faith that you will have no problems with it.”
“Then I will.” Nicolas said as he looked up.
“Kate.” I turned and sow Destin in the doorway. “I found a few dresses that might fit you.”
“Dress?” Nicolas turned to me with a questioned look
“I have to go help Destin tonight.”
“I should go with you.” Said Nicolas as Destin came up to us. He walked over the wolves that where drying off. They walked back inside.
“No you should stay here you need to get some sleep.”
“But I’m your apprentice and you hardly trained me at all.” He snapped at me his word cut deep and I looked away from him.
“I know. I am sorry but Riken thought it best if I practiced at doing my spells better that way I could help you easer.”
“I want to go with you I don’t care what Riken says.” I turned to him I was furious at his attitude and slapped him across the face just hard enough to get his attention.
“Don’t you dear say that Riken is are superior and should be treated with respect especially from you who haves not even taken the first test.” I snapped at his shock face as he held his cheek. “Do you understand?” he looked away from me.
“Yes Kate.” tears began to fall from his face. I walked over to him and took him in my arms and held him.
“I need you to watch you’re self and stay safe. Don’t go and get people angry at you understand?” he looked up at me and I sow a scared boy and dragon looking back at me.
“Yes.” He wiped his tears away.
“Good. Now I wont you to get plenty of rests for the test understand.”
“Yes.”
“Good now off to bed.” I let him go he walked in side said good night to everyone then walked upstairs.
“Kate.” I looked up at Destin “You did good.” He put his arms around me. I was shaking at his touch.
“I did not want to do that.” Destin held me tight agents him.
“Lesson we are going to be in the center of the vampire strong hold I need you to be prepared even throw we will have there word that nothing will happen. But they can make us attack them first then they will be portending them and we will have no back up.”
“I understand.” I turned to look up at him. “I will need some silver. So I can make us some protection.” he smiled at me.
“Shields?”
“Yes I don’t think they would let us in with anything harmful. Oh, I almost forgot we need some garlic as will.” 
“Ok we will leave once the passes get here.” Destin let me go and walked back inside. I looked up at the moon and the sun was setting over the mountains. I turned to Midnight and we walked in side.
“Kate.” I looked over at Riken setting at the table and sow the three of them sitting there drinking and talking. “Yes sir?” they looked up at me.
“Nicolas is staying here right?” Riken sat down his beer.
“Yes sir.” Destin came down and handed me several silver coins. Riken stood and came to stand next to me.
“You are going throw with this?” Riken took the silver from me.
“Yes sir.” I watched him pull out a thin long black wand from his right pants pocket.
“To make a protection bracelet with these will need garlic and cyan peppers.” I looked up at him with a question but I did not say anything. “Don’t look at me like that I will not have some one especially one of my advisers to go unprotected.” Riken went throw the cabinets and gathered what he was looking for. We watched him put everything in a large boll, toss it around then pointed his wand at it. “Just the tree of you right?” asked Riken as he looked up at Destin.
“Yes Nicolas is staying here.”
“Ok. Pulsera Dos .” He said and there was a flash of light in the boll and he pulled out three bracelets. He came over to us and handed one to Destin, put one on Midnight, and handed me one. “This will make sure that you three get back. Just don’t do anything you mite regret.”
“Yes sir.” there was a nock on the door.
Destin went to the door and I could see Morgan hand him an envelope and then disappear. Destin walked back over to us and opened the envelope. He then turned to me “You should go change.” I agreed and went up stairs. I entered the room and sow Nicolas and Scarlet asleep on the couch. The TV was on the Sci- Fi channel as they where playing a space movie. He had a pillow and a blanked that he was raped up in. I looked on the bed and sow a light blue dress lying across the black covers. I picked it up and looked at it.
The dress was two-piece. The top a blue silk looking bra with a blue sheer sleeve that ended in silk cuffs and the bottom was a blue silk under skirt with a sheer overskirt. There was a pair of black boots that go to mid calf. I got dressed and was enjoying the out fit. “Kate.” I looked over and sow Nicolas looking at me.
“I thought you where asleep.”
“I couldn’t sleep. Where are you going?” I walked over to him and he laid back down on the couch.
“I am going to make sheer nothing happens to Destin when he haves to deal with several vampires.” I pulled the blanked back over him.
“Vampires there real?” I smiled at him.
“Lesson don’t worry about them they will not heart you as long as I am hear.” he smiled at me as he pulled out the necklaces I gave him. I took it in my hand and put some of my energy into it. That made him smile. I wish mine did not break but then I felt something warmth on my chest. I pulled out my locked and it was glowing.
“I should be back in a few hours so stay safe and try to get some sleep.” I pulled the blanked up and stood up.
“Kate, be careful.”
“Don’t worry I am planning on It.” I said taking the piece of chock out of my other shoe and put it in the right boot. I left the room and headed down stairs. When I reached the bottom they all looked up at me.
“Wow you clean up nice.” Thomas looked at me from the couch.
“Thank you.”
“We should go.” Destin walked over to me 
“Right.” I smiled up at him glad he was on my side
