I was laying on the floor, gripping my shoulder.
"It hurts!" I screamed.
"Ashely!" Ross came over and knelt down beside me. "Why would you jump in front of a gun?"
"It was my fault! Rocky could have been killed because of me. I couldn't let that happen."
"You could have been killed. An ambulance is on its way. Don't close your eyes."
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Rocky, pinning the man with the gun down and Riker kicked the gun away.
Rydel and Ratliff were standing by the door, waiting for the ambulance and Ryland was knelt beside me, trying to stop the flow of blood from my shoulder.
"Ross, I'm sorry." I whispered.
"There's nothing to be sorry about. You saved Rocky. If you wouldn't have done that, Rocky might not have made it." Ross had tears streaming down his face. It then occurred to me that I just saved Rocky's life.
"I don't want to go back to another hospital." I moaned.
Ross gave a slight laugh. "I know babe, but you can't seem to stay out of them."
The police came bounding through the door and over the where Rocky was pinning down the man. They hauled him up, threw hand cuffs on him, and brought him outside. One officer came over to me.
He spoke into his walkie-talkie. "Where's that ambulance? This girls bleeding out!" He pointed his attention to me. "What's your name?" He spoke softly.
"Ashley. Ashely Stars." I whispered.
"Don't close your eyes, Ashley. How did this happen?" He took over Ryland's job and started applying pressure to my wound.
"He was gonna shoot Rocky. I couldn't let that happen." I looked at Ross. "I'm tired Ross. I want to go to sleep."
"Don't close your eyes Ashley!" The officer yelled.
"I love you, Ross." I whispered, and closed my eyes.
-------------------------------------------
I woke to a loud beep and a vibrating sensation. When I opened my eyes, I was in an ambulance.
"She's awake!" Someone shouted.
I felt someone squeeze my hand, and I looked over to see Ross.
"Ashley, I was worried sick!" He gasped.
I tried to speak, but there was an oxygen mask over my mouth.
"Don't speak. Just rest. We are almost to the hospital."
I took off my mask. "Don't leave me." I whispered.
"I'm not going anywhere." Ross whispered back.
The oxygen mask was placed back over my mouth, and I closed my eyes.
-------------------------------------------
"I'm not leaving her side!" Ross screamed.
"Ross." I whispered.
"Ashley, I'm not leaving! I promise!"
I was being wheeled down the hospital hallways on a bed and Ross was fighting to remain by my side.
I was trying to stay awake, but my eyes closed.

(Ross's point of view)
"She's flatlining!" A doctor yelled. "She's lost too much blood! We need a crash cart!"
