The news came in the middle of the night, Shiloh had succumbed to her condition, without ever regaining consciousness. Lexa looked at the little baby sleeping soundly. Shiloh had grown up with her, like Anya she was more of a sister than a friend, her final wish was that Lexa raise her baby, and Lexa knew she would. Lexa felt she owed Shiloh and Anya they made her their family, when she had none. Lexa looked at her sleeping wife and worried it was unfair to force a baby on Clarke, just after they were married. Clarke had only just turned 21 and Lexa was forced to ask her to raise a baby, with her. It wasn't fair, and she knew she may loose Clark over this.

The baby stirred in his sleep, Lexa picked him up and changed his nappy and prepared milk for him, she sat in the other arm chair and feed him. Lexa places the baby back in bed and decides she needs to go to the market tomorrow and buy him a cradle and other supplies and think of a name for him.

Exhausted she crawls back into bed and cuddles into Clarke, hoping this won't be the last time she is in the blondes arms. Clarke pulled Lexa closer in her sleep and mumbled, "I love you, Lex."

"I love you soooooo much, Clarke. No matter what happens, I will always love you." Lexa said needing to get it out there. She kissed Clarke lightly on the lips and tried to sleep.

Lexa woke at sunrise, to find Clarke talking to the baby quietly, as she feed him. "You are such a sweet little guy, aren't you. No matter what, Lexa and I will always be here for you."

Lexa smiled and walked over to her wife. "Would you like me to take over with him, my love?"

"He is fine Lex, I'm just going to burp him and put him into bed. Is there any news, about his mum?" Clarke asked.

Lexa nodded sadly, "Let's get him to bed and then I will tell you everything, over breakfast. I will get the guards to bring it up, is pancakes and berries ok?"

"That sounds perfect, my love." Clarke said worried about her wife. Clarke burped the baby and put him down to sleep, before walking over to Lexa and pulling Lexa into her arms. "Are you ok, love?"

"As much as I can be, thank you for asking." Lexa replied.

"Of course, Lex, I love you and I care about you." Clarke said.

Lexa looked into Clarke's eyes, " Clarke .." she was interrupted by the arrival of breakfast.

Once the guards placed their food down and left, Clarke turned to Lexa and said, "My love, what is wrong, I can tell something is bothering you, talk to me, please."

Lexa looked into Clarke's eyes for a bit and nodded, "Shiloh's fight was over last night. The baby, has no mother, which means I will raise him. I have to, I owe it to Shiloh and Anya, they made me their family, when I lost mine. I am scared Clarke, what if I'm not a good mum? Also we just got married, we haven't even talked about children, I am terrified to loose you, but I can't leave him without family."

Clarke looked at Lexa, with mixed emotions, firstly she felt her pain and wanted to just pull her close and never let her go. Then she was upset, that Lexa thought she wouldn't make a good mother, lastly Clarke was angry that Lexa thought she would loose her, because of the baby. "Really, Lexa, you think so little of me, that you think I would abandon you, because a baby was unexpectedly gifted to us? I know we haven't talked about it, and ideally I would have wanted to wait a few years, but we all know plans never work out the way you want them to. If you think you can use this to escape our marriage, bad luck I take our vows very seriously and I'm in this for all of every lifetime we have."

A smile slowly crept on to Lexa's face, in place of the scared shocked look, that was there at the beginning of Clarke's rant. "You really mean that? You will raise him with me? I would never try to get out of our marriage, Clarke, I love you, I just didn't want to place an unfair burden on you."
