You walked to the library after your classes, praying to god you wouldn't have to bump into Hermione and her dumb boyfriend again. It's been a few days since the fight and you tried to deceive yourself into thinking you were getting over her.
Truth was, you weren't getting over her. You were simply keeping yourself distracted so you didn't have to think about her. And how were you keeping yourself distracted? - other than the loads of homework Snape kept assigning- Ginny.
You were with her for the most of your time, but not much words were exchanged, at least from you. You guys would just fuck and then Ginny would spend the night, talking to you. You gave her the occasional nod or mhm and let her speak her mind until you both fell asleep.
The sex was good but it was just the sex that was good. You couldn't find any much comfort in Ginny like you did with Hermione. You appreciated her nonetheless, she always made sure you were okay and didn't use you just for sex. She was a good friend but nothing more, plus you knew she had eyes for someone, you just didn't know who yet.
You thanked merlin you didn't see Hermione in the library which was where you would mostly bump into her and her sock-head boyfriend.
You took a seat near the history book section and began studying for your next big exam. Having Hermione to help you study for these huge exams would be so much better than having Ron help, but you fucked up and now you had to pay the consequences.
You were doing well, being able to study without much distraction until you heard a familiar giggle. You rolled your eyes and continued studying until the voices got closer and closer to you. Of course it was her and Cormac.
Hermione dropped her smile and stopped walking when you both made eye contact. Her eyes traveled down to your neck and you could swear you saw her cringe when she saw the hickeys all over your neck. Ginny had a thing for giving hickeys, a lot of them in fact.
"What the fuck are you looking at?" exclaimed Cormac to you. Hermione pushed his arm, telling him to leave the aisle as she stared at you until she left as well. You buried your head into your hands, cursing to yourself.
"Y/n? You okay?" Another familiar voice piped up next to you.
You jerked your head up, seeing the raven haired boy next to you. You relaxed once you saw who it was.
"Yea, just saw you know who again."
"What?!? You saw Voldemort?" Harry accidentally yelled out in shock, ignoring the stares he got and the very loud shush from Madam Pince.
"No, what?!? I meant Hermione." You shushed Harry, making him say sorry as he took a seat next to you.
"So... studying for Binns?" He said, awkwardly trying to make conversation.
"Yea... What's up with you, Potter?" You weirdly looked at him since he was usually never at the library alone and never asked about your schoolwork.
"I'm just gonna cut to the chase. Hermione misses you. Like a lot." Your eyes widened.
"She said that?"
"Yea." Harry smiled hiding his lie when he added his 'like a lot' part. "You should maybe..." Harry scratched the back of his neck, letting you finish the sentence.
"Apologize?" You smiled at the shy boy. "You're right, Harry. I should apologize. It's just..." You let out a groan. "Cormac pisses me off so much and if I apologize, then I'm probably forced to be nice to Cormac."
"I know, but if I'm going to be honest, I don't think they're gonna be together for too long."
"What does that mean?" You raised an eyebrow in eagerness.
"Nothing, but you should most definitely still apologize." Harry winked at you before leaving your aisle. You watched him turn and leave the library, thinking of what he had said.
---
You're mind kept running over the words Harry had said earlier in the day. Apologize, she misses you, like a lot. You laid in your bed, replaying the same scene from the library and also replaying what would happen if you had apologized. You've had enough and shot up from your bed. You walked to the door, about to unlock it and go to Hermione's dorm but you stopped yourself.
You paced around your room, thinking it this really was the right thing to do. Well obviously it was, in Hermione's part. But that meant that she would make you apologize to Cormac and you would have to pretend to be friends while secretly hating each other. Fuck that, you said internally and opened the door.
