You walked over to the brunette's dorm, going over the things you would say. You carefully planned out when and what words to speak in case you were going to suddenly blurt some stupid thing out. You made your way to her door but you heard some noise. It was actually pretty loud, you were sure you could've heard it while walking to the dorms if you hadn't been so occupied with your apology.
If you were right, Hermione was in her dorm with Cormac since all you could hear was his voice, his raised voice.
"What the fuck did I say about spending too much time with Weasley?! It seems like every single day you're with him. It's like you don't give a shit about me!" You heard him shout. You paused, hesitating if you should open the door to intervene or not. You didn't want Hermione accusing you of hitting Cormac when violence wasn't needed.
"But I-" Hermione tried to interrupt, but Cormac cut her off. You could tell she'd been crying.
"And Y/n. Why were you staring at her?! I thought I told you that she hurt me. Me!! You're stupid ass gay friend punched me out of nowhere and you're STILL looking like you want her or something." Cormac's voice was getting into a low growl and you could feel your heart beating faster and louder.
"I swear I'm not- AAH!" Hermione said but she was shut up by Cormac once again but this time a little differently. You heard a smack and that was it. Everything you had overthought about left your mind and your slammed your body against the door.
Cormac had his hand on Hermione's neck, choking her as his other hand was raised. Hermione had her eyes closed shut, tears coming down her face. The both of them looked at you, an angry expression plastered on Cormac's face, and a scared one from Hermione's. You rushed to Cormac and tackled him onto the ground, punching him repeatedly but he used his arms to block them.
He was stronger than you ultimately, so he pushed you off of him and you smashed your back against the bedpost, yelling in pain.
"Y/n!" Hermione rushed to your side, completely ignoring the fact that Cormac had just practically been beaten up.
"You two are fucking crazy. I'm done. I don't fuck with psychos." Cormac stood up and stormed out of the dormitory.
"Oh my merlin, Y/n are you okay? Please be okay," sobbed Hermione as she caressed your face. You laid on the floor, you're back in an enormous amount of pain but you didn't care. You've got her back to you. You smiled stupidly the entire time as Hermione was worrying about your injuries. She was a total sobbing mess and you loved her for it.
"I'm sorry, Hermione, I'm really sorry." You started to cry too. "I'm sorry for what I said. I'm so sorry for screwing everything up. I didn't mean it and I missed you so much. I don't want to ever lose you again." You were also a sobbing mess now. You let everything go and spoke your feelings that you bottled up for the past few weeks. You wanted to say more but you stopped and the both of you just looked at each other.
You knew she understood you and forgave you. She put two hands on your either side of your face and pulled you in... for a hug. Your heart skipped a beat as you thought you two were going to kiss. You were positive by the tension but apparently Hermione didn't feel the same way.
"It's okay, Y/n. I really missed you, I should've listened to you. You were right, that man is a horrible, horrible person." You could feel Hermione's tears streaming down her face as she wept harder into your shoulder. You smiled and rubbed her back, just relieved she accepted your apology.
"Everything's going to be okay, Hermione. I will not let anybody hurt you ever again, okay?" You used your left arm to prop you up as your right arm wrapped around Hermione's back. "Let's get on your bed." Hermione got off of you and helped you up.
You two made your way to her bed and you laid down on the soft mattress. You groaned in comfort because of your still wounded back that the bed made feel a lot better. Hermione climbed on next to you and moved in. She put her head on your chest and you put your arm around her.
"Y/n." Hermione mumbled out. You could feel her jaw move on you. You hummed in response. "Thank you. I think you're the only person who makes me feel so..." Hermione hesitated, seeming to not find an accurate word.
"Feel so what?"
"Safe." Hermione finally responded, confidently. "You make me feel so safe." You turned your head to the left and stared out the window. You continued staring out until you fell asleep, wishing you both ended the night as more than just friends.
