The day of Ron's debut game as a goalie rolled around. There was a lot of festive vibes erupting throughout the school. The Gryffindors were dressed up in school quidditch uniform, even Luna was dressed up as a full-on lion and she wasn't even in Gryffindor. You and Hermione both walked into breakfast in red and gold clothing and, like she always does, she ran to Ron and greeted him with a kiss.
You were brought back to when you and she were 'dating' and how she would always greet you with a kiss in the morning.
"Hey boys. Are you guys ready for the game?" You grinned at Harry who looked confident. Ron, on the other hand, was practically trembling. Seamus had just told him he bet money on him and the Slytherins were singing some stupid song about a king. "Calm down, Ron, you'll do fine."
"I'm resigning. McLaggen can take my spot." Ron's bottom lip quivered as Hermione worriedly rubbed his back while holding onto his arm. You two made eye contact for a bit until Hermione pulled away. She always pulled away first.
"Good morning! Ron you look dreadful. Is that why Harry put something into your cup?" Ron, Hermione, and you all turned to Harry, who quickly flashed his Liquid Luck potion before putting it back. You smirked while Hermione looked apprehensive.
"You can't do that! Don't drink it, Ronald!" Hermione scolded. Ron ignored her and confidently took a swig out of his jug. "Merlin, you could be expelled for that!"
"Don't know what you're talking about." Harry and you both said. Hermione gave you a death stare before Ron shot out of his seat.
"Come on Harry, we've got a game to win!"
---
Ron was on fire. Slytherin was a very aggressive team and Gryffindor may have been losing without him. He saved countless amounts of quaffles from going through the rings which gave Gryffindor the upper hand as they could get the ball back.
Hermione was jumping up and down and was very very eager. She yelled and shouted Ron's name over and over again, making you a little bit annoyed.
"Calm down, Mione. The other side of the field can hear you." You put a hand on her shoulder to calm her.
"Sorry, he's just doing so well!" You sighed, unable to argue with her this time. You heard the crowd erupt in the Gryffindor side. Harry had spotted the Snitch and was now speeding towards it, the Slytherin Seeker behind his tail as he spotted Harry. But he was too late. Harry reached out and grabbed the Snitch, giving Gryffindor the win. Hermione and you both jumped up and cheered.
---
The Gryffindor common room was livid. Ron was in the center on top of table, the entire common room cheering after him. They chanted 'King Ron' but in a praising way. Not how Slytherin had mocked him. Ron was over the moon, he finally was able to have glory after being hidden in his best friend's shadow for six years.
"You shouldn't have done that, you know," Hermione said as the three of you enjoyed the show.
"No, I'm so glad you used the potion, Harry." You countered, grinning at Hermione's eye roll. You could tell she wanted to smile as well. Harry stayed silent and reached into his pocket. He pulled out a full vial of liquid luck.
"You didn't put it in! You only made him think you did! Truly genius, Potter." You ruffled his hair as he proudly smiled to himself. You felt a tap behind you on your shoulder. For a second, you thought it was Ginny but you reminded yourself that she was still a bit mad at you.
"Uh, hey?" You turned to see the a Hufflepuff with blonde hair. She looked weirdly similar to you. "Do I know you?..."
"I don't know if you remember but you bumped into me before. You were a mess actually." The Hufflepuff giggled, her cheeks turning a very visible red.
"Oh, right! Sorry about that, I was actually going to her dorm." You turned around to where Hermione was. She was just staring at you two, glaring at the Hufflepuff. "Uhh, yea let's go somewhere else. Wanna go grab a drink?" You took the Hufflepuff's hand and led her to the drink stand, unaware of how hard Hermione was looking at you two... and how upset she was.
---
The Hufflepuff was very giggly and blushed at everything you said. You found a bit weird but she was fun enough. You didn't even know her name.
"So I kind of need to get back to my friends. It was nice-" You said, trying to stop her from blabbering. Suddenly, you felt a tug on your tie. The Hufflepuff pulled you in and crashed her lips on top of yours. You widened your eyes, not having time to react. You didn't kiss back and wanted to push her away but she kept pushing into you.
You finally get out of her grasp when the entire room cheered. Lavender Brown apparently had made a move on Ron. You immediately looked at where Hermione was supposed to be but instead, she was already gone. You saw her leave the room and ran after her.
