Little did you know, as you were crying in your dorm over what happened that morning, Hermione felt the same way too. She really missed you and wanted to scream in her pillow. Everything was basically your fault though. Nothing could've justified you yelling at her when she tried to confront you over something that she had no control over.
She thought about what you said, that you had liked her ever since last year. She didn't hate the idea because frankly, she liked you too. Ever since she started to pretend to date you, she felt something she couldn't feel with Cormac.
You made her feel safe and she wanted to open up to you which was drastically different with Cormac. Sure he was cute and nice but he didn't seem to have any interest in what Hermione had to say about her day or anything else other than her body.
But now she couldn't do anything. It was up to you to apologize to her because Hermione knew it was ultimately your fault for the "separation". She just waited for you to apologize but instead, you just got into another almost fight with Cormac. She did not understand what had gotten into you.

You were sitting with Harry and Ron in the common room in front of the fire place. Harry was reading his potions textbook, a subject he usually despised. Ron was doing an essay but had fallen asleep, snoring. And you were just sitting on the floor, staring at the fireplace.
You're mind was filled with so many things at the moment. You were entrapped in your thoughts about what to do with Hermione and Ginny at the same time until you heard the common room door open and some people step inside.
It was Hermione and Cormac, laughing and teasing each other. Hermione had her hand in Cormac's and she playfully hit him in the arm as her cheeks grew red. You felt your heart ache but you didn't show any emotion. You smiled to the apologetic boy sitting with you and left the common room.
Hermione stopped laughing at what Cormac was telling her when she saw you leave. You too made eye contact for a split second but you quickly turned away and walked up to the dorms.
"Mione?" Cormac waved his hand in front of her face. Hermione snapped out of her stare from where you sat before you left to the dorms.
"Oh what? Sorry, got a bit distracted." Hermione apologized.
"Were you staring at Y/l/n?" confronted Cormac, looking a bit offended. His face grew a bit disgusted.
"Uh- no. I mean yes but only because she was in my line of-" Hermione stuttered, not wanting Cormac to be mad again. She found another bad quality of his, he was very short tempered.
"You've got to be kidding me." Cormac pinched the bridge of his nose and put his other hand on his hip and sighed. "You really think that what she did wasn't wrong?"
"No, what? I didn't even say anything." Hermione retorted, kind of in disbelief why her boyfriend suddenly brought that up.
"Yea but you definitely think I deserved to be hit right?" Cormac threw his hand up in exasperation, which made Hermione flinch. "Fucking insane." Cormac opened his mouth to gaslight her even more but Harry and Ron came into the rescue. "What?" Cormac irritatingly said at the boys.
"Hermione, can we talk to you?" Harry said as the both of them glared at McLaggen.
"Yea." Ron guided Hermione away from Cormac, leaving him sighing and walking out the common room, furious.
"What the hell was happening?" Ron asked, worried as the three of them took a seat on the common room couch.
"I don't know." Hermione said, her voice choking up just a bit but not enough for the two to notice.
"He needs to go, who knows what he'll do to you." asserted Ron, jabbing his thumb to where Cormac and Hermione were arguing. Harry nodded in agreement.
"No, he's just stressed. He's not usually like this, promise." Hermione didn't know how much of this was true. She just hoped he was having a bad day.
Ron and Harry looked at each other before turning back to Hermione. Ron hesitated trying to ask another question.
"What, Ron?" said Hermione, making Ron ask his question.
"What's up with you and Y/n? You apologize or anything yet?"
"No, I'm not apologizing." Hermione defended. Her face softened after a moment. "I do kind of miss her." She muttered, staring at the fireplace.
Harry smiled, hatching a plan in his mind."I'm going to find Cormac and apologize or whatever. 'Night, guys." Harry and Ron nodded goodbye and watched her leave.
"Oi, what are you smiling about? You look like you just won the Quidditch Cup." Ron looked at Harry's grinning face, confused.
"I'm telling Y/n, Hermione misses her so they'll be alright."
"And how do you know that's gonna work?"
"Y/n is obviously still into Hermione. I mean have you seen the way she looks at her when she's with McLaggen. I'm telling you, this is definitely going to work."
