MylesAlexandra got over some complex she has against anyone going into her grandparents' house and lets us in while she changes.
Lucas throws himself down on the mattress, arms behind his head while I look around the room. It's my first time here.
"I'm dating Alex now" I break him the news, sitting on the other edge of the bed. He stays quiet and doesn't react in any way. I turn to look at him.
He scoffs, "What?"
"I-" but he cuts me off.
"Oh my God! You're dating?! How did that happen?? What? I would have never guessed" clearly overplaying.
I scoff now, running my hands through my hair and sigh. I've been getting more tired lately, exhausted. The summer is ending soon, and future is waiting- school, work, moving, planning, planning, planning and doing.
My girlfriend, I smile at the idea, walks into the room, looking and smelling fresh and clean. She goes to the bedside table and takes her hairbrush from the drawer; I wrap my arms around her waist and pull her closer to me. I rest my forehead on her hip and don't let her go as she starts to run the brush through her hair.
"Let me" I mumble.
She caresses a hand over my head, "Huh?"
I grab her hips and tug her to sit on the bed in front of me, scooting a little farther to make her room. "Let me do it" I say, taking it from her hand.
Her face goes from confused to apprehensive and unsure until she's grinning at me. I sigh at her beautiful face being mine to look at.
"Oh, hell no" my brother stands absurdly from the bed and heads for the door. "I'm not witnessing your affection-showing right here"
"You were literally in the same room when we-" I call out after him, but Alex claps a hand over my mouth, scoffing.
"Bitch" she mutters, turning around.
"When you what?!" Lucas peeks his head in behind the door. "You know what, never mind" he says the same time Alex says,
"Nothing"
I gather all her hair behind her back and start brushing from the ends of her hair.
"Good, right" she says lowly.
"Mh?"
"You started from the tips" I hold back a smile. That's good, the right way, I know.
"That's most... effective" I nod.
Double meaning.She sighs, "Shut up"
I get through all her hair and wrap my arms around her again, kissing her cheek.
"Good job, my Millie" she says, smiling, turning her head to look at me. I fall to my back, bringing her with me. Alex rolls off me and lays next to me.
She raises from the bed and picks up a cardboard box. It looks heavy and she struggles with it a little. I take it from her, she allows. "Can you take it to Gary?"
I nod and exit the room.
"Yes, thank you, Myles" Gary has me put it to alcove in the hallway.
I walk back to the room; Alex grabs my hand, and we head out. I close the gate after us.
"Alex" Lucas stops suddenly after a minute of walking.
"Lucas" she looks at him. Lucas leans down on one knee in front of her and I debate whether he's going to beg and praise to her or if I should chop his head off.
