Two funerals and chaos

Ricardo

Brady and Dan helped dress Sofie and me in our disguises while the others got ready to attend our funeral.

"Tell me again why I'm attending your funeral when you're not dead?" Dan asked me.

"It's a long, convoluted story. I prefer not to discuss." I straightened my wig before applying my mustache.

Brady laughed. "You looked like a 70s porn star. Chicka bow, wow."

Sofie roared with laughter while Dan snickered.

"Excuse me, but you have no room to talk. Your idol is that guy that likes to tie up his women."

Brady gave me an annoyed look before rolling his eyes.

"So, who are you supposed to be?" Dan asked me.

I wrapped my arm around Sofie, wearing a red wig. "Richard and Mildred Smith. We met Sofie's boyfriend's cousin while hunting bears on our honeymoon."

Dan cocked his head while Brady rolled his eyes.

"In other words, Ricardo was hiding from Yogi while using an alias on an assignment," Brady said.

"Ah," Dan said.

Brady checked his watch. "We should get going before we're late."

"Why? It's not like it matters since we're dead," Sofie said with a shrug.

"Oh, it matters. People will wonder why we arrived late," I said.

"Fine," Sofie groaned. "Let's get this show on the road so I can watch Odin blubber like a big baby."

We shook our heads and left Brady's place. It would seem too suspicious if we left Odin's house.

Bailey

Attending a funeral was my idea of fun since my dad passed away. My friends and Marty talked me into it. I would have preferred to stay home. It was another reminder of missing my dad.

We arrived at the cemetery. I stood near the car and furrowed my brows.

"Bailey, it'll be fine," Marty said.

"Marty, it's another reminder of not having my dad." I sighed and rubbed my forehead.

"No, but someone wants to meet you," Sage said.

"Who?" I glanced at Sage suspiciously.

"Excuse us," Sage told Marty and my friends before dragging me away.

"Sage!"

"Bailey, there are times in our lives we must suck it up for the greater good. You deserve a rainbow after a hellish storm."

"What about you?"

Sage stopped and looked at me. "What about me?"

"Don't you need one, too?"

"I'll get my rainbow when Romeo comes home. It's your turn to get yours." Sage smiled before dragging me toward some people and stopping.

I stood beside Sage as an older woman and man turned to us. The woman smiled warmly at me.

"Bailey, let me introduce you to your great-grandparents Mackenzie and Shawn Weston," Sage said.

"What?" I asked.

"They're your dad's grandparents."

My brows lifted, and my jaw dropped. Sage smiled before taking her leave. I stared at the couple, speechless.
