JJ called me and asked if he could stop by. I agreed without hesitation. He used the guise of helping my grandsons.

When JJ arrived, I answered the door and let him inside before closing the door. Then I got Daría and Sam while Ma and Nora sat in the living room. I introduced JJ to Sam and Daría since Ma and Nora had met him.

"It's good to see you again," JJ told Ma and Nora.

They nodded in response.

"What's going on?" I asked, getting to the point.

"I spoke with Odin and Sophia and gave Sofie an earpiece. I want to provide Daría with one, too," JJ said.

"Why?" Daría asked.

"It will give us a better way to track you."

"What about a phone?" I asked.

"People can trace phones. We don't want Andre and his boss to have the opportunity of locating Daría and Samantha. It's one reason we didn't allow them to have a phone."

"Makes sense."

"Why would Sofie need an earpiece?" Daría asked.

We looked at JJ as he studied us. Then he explained everything to us and how Sofie factored into the situation. Sam and Daría gaped at JJ as Nora and Ma furrowed their brows. My mind processed the information. Sofie's father caused massive issues with Elias and Owen's construction business. It all made sense now.

"Sophia didn't know about her family. I want to make that clear," JJ said.

"Sofie wanted to escape, Daddy dearest," Daría said.

I cocked my head and glanced at Daría.

"Her dad couldn't stand any of us. I doubt he would unburden his soul to his daughter." Daría crossed her arms and frowned.

I noticed the protectiveness Daría had with Sofie. The boys were the same way with Leokadia.

"We don't want to give Andre or his boss room to escape. They have ruined too many lives. We want to stop them," JJ said.

"Fine. Give me the damn earpiece," Daría said.

I arched my brow.

JJ just chuckled and showed Daria how to wear the earpiece. Then he had her test it.

Once JJ finished the test, I had other questions for him. "What happened to the people that worked for Andre and his boss?"

JJ looked at me. "My family dealt with them accordingly."

"What about the email we received with the app? Mason explained the basics to us."

"My uncle Ryan created the Dylan signal because of my uncle Frazier. Frazier's first name was Dylan. He wasn't too fond of it. Dylan was Uncle Ryan's way of alerting the family of trouble. The entire family had the Dylan app installed on their phones. With one tap, it alerted all of our phones."

I nodded in understanding.

"Our family aren't saints. We attracted enemies throughout the years. But our uncle Mason trained us to deal with any threat to our family. We want to give the families peace. No one deserves to live with the ancestor's sins."

I understood JJ's reasoning. My dad carried a secret to his grave, with only me knowing the truth. He wanted to give the family closure to a long-awaited feud between the Grays and Tilsons. One person misconstrued an innocent crush for something more than what it was.
