Keaton
I sat in the front passenger seat while Malik drove with his gun in his hand. He didn't make me feel comfortable whatsoever.
"So, my baby brother found a new plaything." Malik didn't look at me but focused on the road.
I didn't bother to answer him.
"What? No witty retort. But then again, what did I expect from a dumbass that got pinched by the cops."
"Where are you taking me?"
"Don't worry about it. You'll be lucky if I let you live."
I pursed my lips and looked out the window. It didn't take long before we arrived at a dilapidated house.
Malik pulled around back and parked. "Get out, and don't try anything stupid."
That wasn't reassuring whatsoever. I opened the car door, exited, and shut it.
Malik waved his gun toward himself. "Get moving."
I shuffled past him. But I wasn't quick enough when he shoved me toward the house. I stumbled and caught my footing before walking. Malik twisted the door handle, pushed it open, and shoved me inside before closing it.
I glanced around at the house. This place has seen better days.
"Move."
I entered a dining room with a single chair underneath a hanging light fixture.
"Sit."
I felt like a dog with all the orders Malik was giving me. I lowered myself into the chair. Malik got to work and tied my wrists and ankles to the chair. I glanced at him but kept my mouth shut.
Malik waved his gun at me like he was in the Wild West. "How the hell did you ever survive working the streets? Andre must have lost his mind when he hired you."
"Are you insulting me? It's not working if you are."
"Oh, now you speak. I'm not insulting you. I speak the truth." Malik smiled sinisterly. "You remind me of that stupid kid I killed at the gas station. All he had to do was give up my brother. He chose wrong, and it cost him his life."
This guy was stupider than I realized. How the hell was he related to Ricardo? Did brains skip family members?
"Did it ever occur to you that you killed a mob boss's kid?" I asked.
"Huh?"
"You can't be this stupid." I rolled my eyes.
That was the wrong thing to say. Malik pistol-whipped me. That was going to leave a mark.
Malik pointed the gun at my face and pulled the hammer. "I should shoot you here and now."
"It doesn't matter if you kill me. You already signed your death warrant when you killed Chase King."
"Shut up."
"What's the matter? Don't like the truth? Too bad." I shrugged.
I guess Malik had enough of my mouth when he gagged me. The truth hurts. In my case, it might get me killed.
********
MalikI need Ricardo to get here so I can kill him, then kill his pet. Did Ricardo think he could fool people with that fake funeral? I didn't buy it even if others did.
After gagging that kid to silence him, I paced back and forth. If I kill Ricardo, I can create my empire. Angelique and Andre were stupid to hire inept people. Those people caused their downfall.
