Marla and I got changed and donned wigs. I wore fake glasses to add an extra effect. It wasn't my preferred choice, but it would work. We left and headed into town with a list. Besides food, we needed clothes.

"So, what do we tell people about us?" Marla asked in the car.

"We're Richard and Mildred Smith. We got married recently and are on our honeymoon. Most people won't question strangers."

"How long will we stay here?"

"We stay until I get the call."

"So, if your family are evil masterminds, why are you working for the good guys?"

"You ask a lot of questions."

"Ignorance isn't bliss." Marla shrugged.

"My family are nasty people. Human life means nothing to them. I didn't want to turn out like them."

"So, no family reunions in the future?"

"Not unless they're six feet under."

Marla glanced at me but didn't say another word.

I sat on the couch with my arms crossed while Dexter paced. "Will you relax?"

"How can I relax when people are hunting our asses down?"

"It's not like we can go anywhere or call anyone. Ricardo destroyed our phones and took the car." I shrugged.

Dexter stopped and looked at me. "How can you sit there like it's no big deal?"

"It's better than the alternative. At least I get freedom, unlike the past three years."

"What happened after that party?"

"You don't want to know."

Dexter sat beside me and swiveled his body to me. "Yeah, I do."

I looked at Dexter. "Fine. Joshua dragged me from the party and introduced me to Andre. Andre gave me the rules. If I broke one, I got punished."

"What did he make you do?"

"Do you really want to know?"

"I wouldn't if I didn't ask."

"Andre forced me to have sex with random strangers for payment while Joshua gave me pills to take the edge off."

"What?" Dexter furrowed his brows.

"I lost my virginity in the back of a car. After that, I learn to shut down. It was easier." I shrugged.

"You make it sound so casual."

"It is what it is. Either I serviced random guys or got tortured."

Dexter stared at me in horror.

"So, while you were playing daddy, I was trying to survive."

"I didn't know." Dexter averted his eyes from me.

"No one did except for Daría and Sam."

Dexter's head snapped to me. "What?"

"I met Daría while working for Andre. Joshua paired me with her. Then I stayed with her and Sam recently. They're dating Ryden and Roman."

"Shit."

"Yeah, shit is right. Our family is in deep shit with Ricardo's family."

Dexter jumped to his feet, turned to me, and held his arm to the side. "Why our family? What did we ever do?"
