It shouldn't matter with whom Kayra goes on a date or who holds her hand but the mere thought of that makes my anger boil. I shouldn't be like that, I shouldn't interfere, it's her life, she knows what's best for her. Despite knowing and understanding all this, I still went there and did that.
I looked at Nick, who was sitting four tables away. He still looked pale. His expressions were in complete contrast from his bliss and cheeky smiles from last week at the restaurant.
“Waiting for someone?” I grabbed the seat beside Nick, in front of the bar. His sleek black hair and overbearing cologne made me gag but I didn't let it show.
“Yeah, my date.” My fists clenched, when I saw his cheeks flush while mentioning Kayra. Cheeky bastard.
I kept my cool and maintained the smile on my face. “Oh, do people still go on dates? I thought they'd stop after that.”
“Why would we stop?”
I put on my actor shoes and began my realistic acting. “Oh, looks like you don't know. It was a famous incident though.”
“What?” I suppressed a grin at how that stupid was entertaining this bullshit.
With worried expressions and a careful voice, I dropped the bomb on him. “I'll enlighten you. Few days back, there was this girl who was single and went on a date with a guy but after their date, that guy was kidnapped and well...unmanned.”
“Huh?” my lips pressed into a thin line, suppressing laughter.
But I internally laughed at how well this was working. “Poor him. He didn't know that there was a guy obsessed with that girl he went on a date with. The obsessed guy cut off his dick out in anger.”
“Then no one did anything?”
I sipped the beer as if I didn't just make him shit his pants. “How will they? He was powerful and he had also made clear to everyone that any man who will go near his girl won't be a man after that.”
I patted his shoulder, in a way to engrave that shit into his head, “We should stay away from shit like that. Safety reasons, you see.”
“Who was the girl?” He was way too predictable, even his questions were dumb but if it was going my way then I wasn't complaining.
“Dunno but they said she was an Env. Science major,” I shrugged.
“Env. Science?” Touché. The way the color drained from his face made me almost double over laughing.
“Yeah, it is said that a lot of guys are obsessed with the girls there. Your date isn't from there, is she?” My grip on his shoulders tightened. After he hesitated to answer my question, I knew my work here was done.
“Oh, gotta go man. You?” I got up. My lips curving into a smirk.
“Nick.” I smiled genuinely this time, the sweat beads forming on his forehead gave me a form of relief.
“Well, be careful, Nick. You won't want to be castrated.” I let go of his shoulder, knowing I successfully scared him off.
Nick's pale face after hearing that nonsense was remarkable. I didn't feel the slightest bit bad for shooing him away last week. He was no match for Kayra anyway. A scaredy cat like him didn't deserve her.
A series of laughter caught my attention. It was from the ladies' table across from me and from all of them the most adorable laugh was Kayra's. She carried her usual look of pants and shirt but it still made my heart race more than the other days. Maybe it was the way she laughed so loudly, so carelessly that made my soul yearn for her. I exhaled as my chest swelled. She was too beautiful.
The warmth and the energy she radiated never failed to pull me towards her. She was the magnet to my iron. The destination to my wanderer. Though she didn't know and neither did I before. But now it's clear, as crystal.
They were playing spin the bottle and it stopped, pointing towards Kayra. I wasn't that far to not see but was far enough to not hear a single word from their table. After something the girls said, Kayra's eyes widened and jaw dropped. I watched her as her eyes wandered through the whole cafeteria and after a minute she stood up and walked away.
The smile that was dancing on my lips fell, replacing it with a frown as I saw her going towards a guy. Dares in spin-the-bottle were crazy and I had first hand experience in them. She couldn't be doing any of the things that I just thought. I won't be letting her.
