Ruby was my best friend and seeing her hurt made my heart ache as well. She had downed an entire bottle of wine and was on her second one but the only thing I could do was sit and watch. Amy was the same as me, sitting still with worry.

Amy filled me in on the situation but she only knew a part of the issue and not the whole thing. Ruby and Asher had gotten into a fight. The fact that they could get into a fight was already serious enough. I've never even seen them quarrel, let alone fight.

I was as clueless as Amy about the reason for their dispute and the only way to know was if Ruby told us. But she wasn't bothering and only continued chugging down the alcohol. "Asshole. Jerk. What does that bastard think of himself?"

I glanced at Amy. She was both Asher's sister and Ruby's friend. She must be torn in between them and hearing Ruby swear at him must hurt her too. But Amy wasn't even close to angry or hurt, she was simply nodding and agreeing with Ruby. Guess all siblings were like that.

I pushed back Ruby to sit when she was getting up to grab another bottle of wine as soon as the previous one ran out. Now was the time to have a proper conversation.

"Ruby, look at me. Pull yourself together. What happened? Tell us please." She lifted her eyes to match mine. It seemed she'd realized her surroundings and what she was doing. Her eyes were red and God, this was the first time when I was seeing her in such a low state. She wasn't vulnerable but too close to it. What made such a strong woman like this?

"Sorry." She looked away, composing herself. She didn't cry, not a single tear. Instead, she was infuriated and it showed. "I got carried away and I am just so angry and disappointed at Asher that I- I just- I am sorry." Her head fell. I squeezed her hand to show her that it's alright. After that, Ruby told us what had happened.

The issue was– Asher had told his parents that he'll marry Ruby soon but not only that he even said they'd live in Canada after marriage. All of this without even discussing a word with her.

"I got to know about this after his mother mentioned it. Fuck, I'm already having shit to deal with as it is. I am the heiress to the Song Hospital and they want me to take over as soon as I am done with my studies, which means Korea for life, Damn it!" She slammed her fist on the table and clutched her head. "Not only this but when I confronted him, he said this is how things are supposed to go, like the nerve of this guy. He said he can't leave Canada and I can't fucking stay here."

"I am sure you guys will find a way," I said, releasing her grip from her hair.

"How? He doesn't even want to talk. He says he wants a fucking break. Like what am I, a joke?" She hissed. I knew how much it hurts when others force their decisions on you, so I could feel Ruby's pain.

"What? That asshole said that. Just let me meet him, I will kill him with my own hands." Amy was furious and it angered me as well. How could he just ignore his mistake and avoid talking?

"No, I'll handle him. I won't talk to him as well. Not until he begs on his knees in front of me. That big heap of trash!" The determined look on Ruby's face made me somewhat relieved, she seemed to be back to her usual self.

But someone else was not back yet. "Fucking Asshole. Moron. That piece of gross shit. Son of a– no not that. Bloody idiotic fool!" Amy went on and on swearing at her own brother. It was the first time I was hearing her swear so much but it was fine because Ruby smiled hearing her.

Ruby hadn't come out of her room since after dinner yesterday. We weren't worried about her but about the house and the things in it. Since last night, loud noises, screeching and banging sounds had been coming from her room. And we both were too scared to knock on her door. Was she planning on murdering him or what?
