I rushed from the house along with Carlisle, Bella and Edward. The others didn't want to be too close to Dad, especially since he was changing and probably lost a lot of blood.

When we arrived at my old house, I heard the screaming and winced. Bella looked to me with tears in her eyes.

I forced myself to open the door and walk into the living room. There, on the couch, was my father.

I saw the bite on his neck and looked to Edward.

I wanted to know what happened. Who did this to my father?

And why would they turn him? Or perhaps they assumed he was dead and left, leaving him too weak to survive but strong enough to turn.

I knew this was going to be terrible for my dad, especially since he was going to see me for the first time in a year and two months. All that time he'd thought I was dead.

He seemed to pass out from the pain and I turned to Carlisle. "How long will it be until he turns?" I asked him.

Bella was behind me, watching our father with horrified eyes.

"The venom is in his neck, heading straight for his heart. It will probably be about two days of transformation, maybe three." Carlisle told me apologetically.

"But what will we do when he does turn? Where will Bella live?" I asked.

"She'll live with us. Charlie will too, unless he goes off on his own path. He might not want to succumb to our lifestyle." Carlisle said and I winced.

"He's a cop. Was a cop, I mean. He'd never hurt anyone." I told him, but Edward sighed and stepped forward.

"He may not be able to control it." He told me.

I looked down at my father and jumped as he screamed again.

I hated hearing him in pain.

"We've got to get him away from here. We can't have anyone suspecting." I told Carlisle, who nodded.

"But Charlie is the Chief. Everyone will be looking for him." Bella added.

"We have to make it look like he died. Or left here. He can't ever be seen again around here if he's a newborn. He won't be able to even control himself." Carlisle told us.

Dad yelled again and I sighed. "We have to figure this out later. Let's get him to the house. Bells, get your stuff." I told Bella, who looked surprised.

"You'll have to move in as soon as possible. That way we can make sure we have a believable story." I told her and she nodded, running up the stairs.

Edward followed her to help her pack.

I turned to Carlisle. "This can't be happening. My dad doesn't deserve this." I said and Carlisle placed a hand on my shoulder.

"I'm sorry, Addy, but I promise you we will take care of your father." He told me and I nodded.

"I know." I said as Bella and Edward came back down the stairs. Bella had a duffel bag over her shoulder.

"Alright, Bella, you should go ahead with Edward to the house. Addy, I'll take your dad if you'd like. You can come with me or go with them." Carlisle told me.

"I can't leave him, I'll go with you." I told him. Edward nodded and grabbed Bella's hand and the two of them went to her truck. I heard the engine start up and then heard them driving away.

I heard a stifled breath and looked down to see Carlisle helping my dad up. He was going to have to carry him.

"Addy?" Dad asked, looking at me in surprise. He seemed to be out of it though, and probably thought this was a dream.
