Y/n's pov
Knights led crowds of students onto the bleachers in the main hall. My friends and I got separated by the mass of pupils, sitting me on the lowest bench of the bleachers, next to two unfamiliar girls. The older one had brown curls that matched her skin. The younger one also had brown skin, with black braids and black doe eyes full of wonder.
"Hi! I'm Mable!" The younger girl stuck out her hand shyly. I shook it gently and smiled, "It's nice to meet you. I'm Y/n." The older girl grimaced and remarked, "So, you're the one everyone's talking about." I wrung my hands. "Yes." Mable got up and beckoned for the older girl to move over so she could sit closer to me.
"Wonderful! Sorry about my sister, Giselle is a little protective over things." Giselle huffed. "Come on, sis! Introduce yourself." She huffed once more, held out her hand stiffly, and I took it. "Giselle Arduenna. I apologize for my sister's curious behavior, she gets it from our father."
I nodded, turning my attention to the sound of a professor fixing the microphone. He then moved from the microphone and Sophie spoke, "Welcome students. I am hear bearing bad news. You're fellow student, Margaret Porter, has taken her own life. It was written in her journal that she "couldn't commit to being good", and that she "craved the curiosities of evil". Along with this news, we were given a letter, addressed by Veronica Ursie and Imogene DunBroch." A collective amount of whispers were heard and Sophie continued, "They believe they are in love and ran off to some unknown location. After Imogene found out she was a heroine, they threw away their chances of finding their true soulmates and ran away together."
Astonished, hushed voices were heard once more whilst Agatha walked to the microphone next. "Now, for the good news. We have four new, good students! Please welcome, Mateo Alejandro Muñoz-Romero, Mable and Giselle Arduenna, and Bertholdt Gold." The girls stood up, along with two boys from a separate bleacher, and together, headed to the stage.
