Y/n's pov
Five months, since I met Edmund. Three whole fucking months without being able to enjoy his presence.
I missed him,
and I missed his touch.
Most importantly, I missed Peter's eighteenth birthday. I only managed to stay in touch with Lucy and she even invited me to the café to see him.
I only agreed, once I learned Edmund wouldn't be attending.
It would just be Peter, Jess, Lucy, and I.So I started my walk there.
At first when Edmund told me he loved me, the world became brighter, but later on I noticed how gray the clouds were and all the color eventually left my surroundings. Leaving the sky dull and the atmosphere wet.
Droplets of water drooped from the roof of the shops.Focusing on the sound of splashing puddles beneath my feet,
I walked infront of the café. As I almost entered, a flash of dark brown hair caught my eye.Ed.
I stumbled away from the glass door. Panic filled my eyes,
mind,
and heart.'I love you. You may as well take my heart, Y/n. It's already full of you.'
His voice rang through my head,
I could feel my sanity being pulled from my body. I need to leave.
With that thought,
I ran;
I ran until I couldn't feel my legs anymore.
I can't believe Lucy set me up. I thought she was my friend...
Why do I always fall for things?
I'm so naive,
I feel so stupid. My thoughts were interrupted when I heard fast stomping footsteps behind me,
"Y/n!"
I didn't need to turn around to recognize that sweet-toned voice.
I ran faster, my legs were so close to giving in, but I wasn't.I won't let him get to me, I'm not naive!
"Leave me be, Edmund!" I shouted, I was surprised I had enough energy to even yell.
Although, that's what to expect when you think you've gone mad.Crossing the road,
Edmund on my tail,
weaving through oncoming cars; listening to them honk at the two of us. I finally looked back behind me after running so long,
and saw he was close to catching me.Tears dropped down from my jawline and I turned around in one motion; I pushed him into the grass.
"Didn't you hear me? I told you to leave! Actually I told you twice 'please go,' remember that?" I shouted, as he lie in shock; his palms held his upper half up.I fell on my knees infront of him. It truly pained me to be so negative towards him,
but something in me didn't want to stop.
"Y/n..."
he sat up and gently placed his hand on my shoulder, I didn't look up at him."Y/n." He said firmer, I still wouldn't look his way.
He lifted my chin with his right hand and whispered my name once more, "Y/n."
My red eyes met his and I saw how Edmund was doing over the last three months, I realized why Lucy set me up, but I didn't see a glimpse of happiness in those eyes."Edmund." He smiled and let tears slip from his eyes.
It tore my heart.
I placed my hands on his cheeks and wiped his tears away. He leaned into my touch.
"I'm so sorry, Y/n." He cried pathetically.I liked that he could show his vulnerability around me, "I love you, Edmund. You will live a long time, Ed. An eternity without me," his eyes widened and I knew I broke his heart further, but he must move on...
"you will look into the faces of passers by, hoping for something that for an instant...
will bring me back to you.
You will find moonlit nights strangely empty, because when you call my name through them,
there will be no answer."I watched him sob into my arms, as I kept talking,
trying to ensure he'll never forgive me for what I've done.
"Always your heart will be aching for me,
and your mind will give you the doubtful consolation that you did...
a brave thing."He pushed himself out of my arms and stood up. He stared at my numb eyes and saw nothing. I could tell, then and there...
this boy would never love me again. He ran away from me after that. I watched him leave and I realized I was explaining to him...
what I would feel without him.
What have I done?I clasped my hands over my mouth and cried in the wet, gray grass. I didn't care if someone saw me,
all I wanted to do at that moment, was to scream and cry my heart out.So I did.
I screamed in that muddy field, and I cried salty tears until I couldn't cry any longer. My voice was almost completely gone. I trudged home.

Time skip
—————————————————-I walked through the front door, mum stood behind it;
ready to scold me. Although she didn't, she took one look at me and her eyes softened.
She didn't say anything,
but she pulled my muddy body into her arms. She hugged me gently, whole-heartedly; she kept me warm.
If I could've cried anymore, I would've."Come on, dear. I'll start up the bath." I nodded and followed her upstairs and into the bathroom.
She started the water, grabbed the bubbles and poured it into the base of the tub.Mum handed me my towel and said, "Do you want me to stay with you?
Or would you like me to wait outside?"
I smiled slightly.
"Just stand outside while I get out of these gross clothes, then you can come back in." She nodded and left the bathroom.I slid off my dress and stockings, got in the bath and closed its curtain.
"You can come in now." I tried to yell, but my voice was barely above a whisper.
I listened for the door to open and heard her sit on the closed toilet seat."Do you wanna chat about it?" She spoke.
I frowned,
"I will when I'm ready. I just... can't right now.""I understand, my dear." She replied, solemnly.
