Y/n's povThe morning of the first trial had arrived, I was a nervous wreck. My head was full of unnecessary scenarios and my forehead was textured due to stress. I picked up my scroll from the nightstand and read it over for the last time.
'Trial 1: Combat
You will enter the quidditch arena at 12:45 at noon. When you arrive, there will be a special guest, this guest will choose your opponent and you will fight said opponent. There will be two rounds of this and then you shall all be ranked. Fair warning, the second round will include weapons.
Go to the armory room between 9:00-10:20 for your armor.
Sincerely,
Headmistress Agatha and Headmistress Sophie.'The scroll left a chill down my spine.
I wasn't scared, but the thought of fighting these people left me to wonder which I could truly trust.
I quickly got ready and headed down to the armory room.
My footsteps echoed through the empty halls, it was refreshing being able to get out of class for something.Although I guess, getting out of class for a dangerous act and against your own will isn't what someone would usually have in mind.
I found myself outside of two tall wooden doors, using the dangling handle,
I knocked.
The doors flew open and revealed a long room filled with armor and weapons, shields, and other battle tools.
I stepped inside, glancing at the rest of my opponents suiting up.Suddenly, a girl with brown skin, wavy black hair, and innocent eyes walks towards me. "Our armor was crafted specially to our stories. I believe yours is at the table next to mine."
She offered a warm smile and waved me towards the table, "I'm Darla Iridess by the way. And you, are Y/n, the chosen one." Her eyes sparkled slightly as she said my name."It's nice to meet you, Darla."
I smiled at her, then focused my attention on my armor.
I gasped at the familiar glow it gave off. 'This is my armor form Narnia!'
It was golden, silver, and red. The right shoulder plate was shaped almost like a gaping snakes mouth, while the hip and chest plates were adorned with silver designs. It didn't look comfortable and quite honestly, it wasn't, but it was easy to move around in, and was extremely durable so I didn't mind.
Once I finished suiting up in my armor, I waited for the trial to begin.
Everyone was fully suited now,
Hattie's armor especially caught my eye.It was vibrant teal, violet, and yellow, and in certain lighting it glowed like holographic glitter, as if it had been enchanted.
His head armor was a metal top hat with a leather strap to rest around his jaw and to keep it steady.
The metal was teal with a pink ribbon.I smiled as he bantered with Evie, who was in a black latex suit with three blue diamonds on her right thigh and blue gloves, along with blue latex boots. Her whole outfit was latex and looked risqué. Suddenly, Yuba walked in, rolling a chalkboard in with him.
On the chalkboard we're a list of rounds, I read through it carefully.Hand-to-hand combat
Round 1: Margaret vs. Rowan
Round 2: Darla vs. Evie
Round 3: Hattie vs. Yue
Round 4: Imogene vs. Henry
Round 5: Pedro vs. Y/n'Great, I'm last.' I looked to my opponent, his dark hair looked messy and his face was stone cold. Hr was intimidating, but his quietude felt lonely as I watched him gaze at the board.
Margaret and Rowan walked out of the armory and into the quidditch field. We were not allowed to watch them fight, Agatha explained how it was 'unfair' to study our possible opponent's strategies.
As the time passed, I closed my eyes.
If I was going to fight this boy, I needed to focus on a tactic.
So far, I've thought out his build and compared it to my own, he was taller and wider, meaning he was slow but strong.
I, on the other hand, am shorter and thin, meaning If I wanted to win, I would have to make the first move.
I opened my eyes, I was determined to win this.
I need to prove I'm a good person."Y/n, Pedro, you're up!" Yuba called; he was excited for this match, it was too apparent.
Pedro walked in front of me, his shoulders hung down and a pant of guilt fled through me.
'This isn't right. Fighting to prove we're good people? This doesn't make any sense.'
My thoughts were interrupted by the sounds of cheers and claps.
I frowned but continued to the middle of the field. There was a big white circle painted on the dry soil. Sophie spoke once we approached the middle of the circle,
"This is the final hand-to-hand combat round! Give it up for Y/n L/n, and Pedro Ladrón!"
The crowd erupted with applause, slowly quieting down. The woman continued, "The first to be thrown out of the circle will lose the fight. Now, are you ready?"
She didn't wait for our response, "Fight!" The two of us circled around the arena, waiting for one another to make the first move.
I ran at him, sliding once I was close to him, and swooped my leg at the back of his knees. He tripped but caught himself and stood straight, his eyes met mine.
He didn't want to fight and he knows I don't want to fight either.
I pretended to give a hard blow to his cheek.
Thankfully, he caught on and flinched just at the right time.
Pedro whispered, "I am going to tackle you. I wont hurt you, I promise."
I nodded subtly and let him tackle me.
I heard familiar shouts but drowned them out.Pedro stood up and pretended to kick at my stomach twice.
I rolled away from him, holding my stomach and limped towards him.
"What if we both walked out of the circle?" I whispered, looking at the crowds of people.
He smiled, "Sure." We both nodded and stepped away from each other, walking to the separate ends of the circle.
We turned to smile at one another before stepping out in sync.
"What's this? They've made a truce!" Sophie shouts with glee. The crowd was silent for a moment. All that was heard was shifting fabric rubbing on wooden benches.
Then, a dark brunette stood up in the crowd, he shouted, "Go Y/n! Yeah! That's my girl!" I smiled as others joined Edmund, chanting Pedro and I's names. The two of us headed back to the armory, prepped for the second wave.1145 words
