During lunch the next day, Delilah sat down next to Brandt and gave him a weak smile. She'd still felt terrible about what happened to him yesterday, and she was pissed at Maya and Anna for being complete assholes.
"Damn, are you serious? UGIS said that?" Connie scoffed. "That's so fucked up."
Delilah nodded. "And Maya literally shoved me beforehand too. I didn't expect this bitchy behavior from them, of all people."
"I'll kill her if she talks about my dad again," Brandt muttered. "UGIS needs to learn her fucking place."
"Forreal," Heather agreed. "By the way, Lila, we're hanging out after school. Wanna join us? We could probably take some of my mom's alcohol. She never keeps the drink cabinet locked."
"I'll be there," she responded.
"Can't wait," Alex said, grinning at her from across the table.
"Thank God, Lila," Connie laughed. "I knew Maya and Anna would've gotten on your nerves eventually-"
Just as Connie was about to finish her sentence, she was interrupted by Sam.
"Shut up! Hey, everybody! Oh my God, what's in that box, Maya and Anna? Are you guys playing with dolls?" he exclaimed, receiving a few laughs from across the cafeteria. "Maya and Anna have a box full of dolls that they're playing with tonight."
Delilah shot her two friends a look of pity before they ran out of the cafeteria, calling Sam an asshole.
"They deserved that," Brandt muttered, earning nods of agreement from the rest of the table.

After school, Delilah headed over to Heather's house.
"Lila! You're here," Alex greeted from the front door. "Everyone's in Heather's room right now. We grabbed a few beers from the fridge, if you want some."
"Nah, that shit tastes nasty," Delilah laughed. "You do you though."
"Yo," Brandt said, sending a nod towards Delilah as she and Alex entered Heather's insanely huge bedroom. "'Sup, Lila?"
Before she could respond, the phone began ringing.
"...who is that?" Heather said, getting up to pick up the phone. "Hello?"
[Anna] Alex? Is Alex with you?
[Maya] And Brandt?
"The fuck?" Alex said, taking the phone out of Heather's hands. "Who is this?"
[Maya] It's... Miranda Harris.
"Okay...?" he responded.
[Maya] (snickering) I was wondering what you thought of Anna Kone. Like, on a scale from 1 to 10. Cause like, she's totally into you-
[Anna] (muffled) Maya! What the hell, slut?
"Who's Anna?" Alex asked, looking back at his friends.
"Dude. She was literally right behind UGIS when she was trying to bitch out Brandt," Dustin replied.
"Oh, her? Screw her. She was an asshole to my friend. Ugly as fuck too," Alex said, getting even more pissed off as he thought about it. "Kone deserves nothing more than a negative ten."
The line went silent, and eventually Maya and Anna hung up.
"Damn, Alex," Dustin laughed. "Brutal."
"Yeah," Delilah agreed. "You could've been nicer, dude. I think she really likes you. She's probably depressed right now."
"Whatever," Alex shrugged, sitting back down next to Delilah and taking a sip of his beer. "They deserved it."

When Delilah left the room to go to the bathroom, she was surprised to see Brandt right behind her.
"Hey," he mumbled, looking down at the floor. "I know we're not close or anything, but I wanted to thank you for having my back when the whole UGIS situation thing happened. I know I was an asshole, but hearing what she said about my dad hit hard. I'm glad you, Dustin, and Alex were there with me."
Delilah smiled and pulled him into a hug. "It was no problem, dude. Yeah, you were a dickhead, but no one deserves having to relive that pain. I'm glad we're friends now, Brandt. You seem like a sweet guy behind the personality you put out at school."
"I'm glad too, Lila," he grinned. "Don't worry, if they ever try to push you like that again, I'll beat their asses, alright?"
"Alright," Delilah laughed. "Thanks for being my bodyguard."

"Okay," Heather smiled as she clapped her hands together. "Who's trying to play spin the bottle? Actually, it's more like a spin the beer can, but whatever. We have the perfect ratio of girls to guys."
Dustin snickered and shrugged. "I wouldn't mind."
"Heather, are you serious?" Delilah groaned. "I don't want my first kiss to be during a spin the bottle game."
"Wait, you haven't even kissed anyone yet?" Alex asked, raising an eyebrow. "How? Don't a ton of guys like you?"
Delilah shook her head. "Not that I know of," she admitted.
"She's got a point, Heather. Let's just wait until Lila's comfortable, then we'll all play together, okay?" Connie said, sending Delilah a comforting smile.
"Thanks, Connie," she grinned.

Later that night, Delilah got a call. It was Maya and Anna.
[Anna] Oh my God, Delilah, like, we are so sorry.
[Maya] Yeah, like, me and Anna were drinking and smoking today, and we realized that we wanted to do things together, not without you.
[Anna] We never should have pushed you away when we were bitching out Brandt and Dustin. We're like, so sorry.
[Delilah] Okay... it's whatever, I guess. But Maya, that was so uncalled for, bringing up Brandt's dad. He was seriously hurt.
[Maya] I know, I think I went too far, but like, he called me UGIS. Oh my God, we forgot to tell you. There's a list of all of the girls in the past years that were called UGIS in the boys' bathroom, and we scribbled my name out. It felt so good.
[Anna] Yeah, like Maya literally broke in. It was so badass.
[Delilah] Right... anyways, were you two the ones who called Heather today?
[Maya & Anna] Yeah.
[Delilah] I'm sorry Alex was so rude about it, Anna. Do you still like him?
[Anna] Well, I mean, yeah, obviously. He was pretty mean, but he's still like, gorgeous.
[Delilah] (laughing) I guess so. Maybe you guys should try apologizing to Brandt. I mean like, there's no way Alex is gonna date someone that Brandt hates, right? Plus, I think that their friend group is actually pretty nice.
[Maya] No way, really? They're like, so cool, too. Maybe we should say sorry, Anna.
[Anna] Yeah, maybe. Cause like, we still need boyfriends.
[Maya] Yeah, like, for sure.
