hi! i just wanted to say that starting from now, the chapters are probably not going to be following the exact same plot as the episodes. mostly because a lot of the characters start to become less involved in the later episodes (alex is barely there anymore). but i do want to write something about when they threw squids at derek's house because i truly hated that man.

i think i want to write about delilah's friendship with brandt and other people for this episode bc i miss them <3 this chapter is going to be short, but i just wanted to write something for you guys before i had to leave my house for the day.

i'm also going to start adding songs to these chapters; lmk if you guys want me to keep doing it or if it's pointless.

"I'm so fucking stupid," Brandt groaned as he jumped onto his bed, shoving his face into a pillow.

Delilah laughed and sat down next to him, patting him on the back reassuringly. "Dude, it's fine. I'm sure she'll understand."

"I don't get it," he muttered, running his hand through his hair. "We've made out before, but when it comes to actual romantic moments, I just freeze. Like, she leaned in to kiss me at the fireworks show, and I gave her a hug."

"Are you serious?" she snickered. "What other opportunities have you missed?"

"I took her on a date and she tried to hold my hand," he started to say. "And I gave her a high five."

By now, Delilah was absolutely losing it. "Oh, my God. I can't breathe."

"It's not funny!" he whined, lightly punching her arm. "I like her and all, but I'm just... horrible at showing it."

"I mean, Alex helped you get her flowers, right?" Delilah asked. "What'd she say?"

"She actually seemed happy, for once," Brandt mumbled. "She looked so pretty that day, and I messed everything up."

Delilah weakly smiled and ruffled his hair. "Hey. You didn't 'mess everything up.' I think this whole situation could be saved by some romantic gesture. Like, if you can't tell her how you feel, why not write her a love letter or something?"

"Ew," he said, his face wrinkling up in disgust. "That's so cringey. What if she thinks I'm a loser?"

"Okay, first of all, rude," Delilah scoffed. "Second of all, girls like romantic things like that more than you'd think. Flowers, letters; something special, you know? God, men are idiots."

"...fine," he sighed. "Could you help me? You and Alex are the only people I know that are good at this stuff, but Alex is at basketball practice right now."

"I'm hurt that you even had to ask," she grinned, pulling him up from his bed. "C'mon, loverboy. Let's go win your girlfriend over."

"Okay," Delilah said as she pressed the buttons on the vending machine to get herself a soda. "Do you know her favorite flowers?"

"Uh, not really," he mumbled. "Should I have asked?"

"No, no," she shook her head, bending down to grab her drink from the slot. "You don't ask. You observe. Asking just takes the romance out of it. I'm pretty sure she likes white lilies, though. Just... don't let her know I told you."

"Okay," Brandt grinned. "Thank God I have you as my best friend, dude. I don't know what I'd do without you."

Delilah chuckled as she popped open her soda can. "What can I say? I'm everyone's favorite wingwoman."

"What else do you think she'd like?" he asked as they sat down next to each other on a bench. "Chocolates? Cards? A puppy?"

"It's cute how enthusiastic you are about this now," she laughed. "What happened to the boy who thought this was 'cringey?'"

"I'm willing to do anything, as long as it means she won't leave me," he weakly smiled. "God, I'm sounding more and more like you and Alex every day."

"I'm going to pretend like that was a compliment," Delilah scoffed. "Anyways, you should definitely write something for her. You know, to explain why you've been such an asshole?"

"That last comment was unnecessary," he complained. "But... thanks. I will."

"Mhm," Delilah said as she took a sip of her drink. "You know, I love moments like these."

"What do you mean?" Brandt asked, furrowing his eyebrows.

"Like, sometimes I feel like I'm growing up too fast, you know?" she explained. "But nice moments with my friends or my boyfriend sort of remind me that I should just... enjoy life, I guess? If that makes sense."

Brandt grinned and ruffled her hair. "Are you going soft on me, Lila?"

"Okay, you've ruined it," she jokingly responded. "I just... can't imagine how my life is gonna be once we all grow up. Like, I'm terrified of drifting apart from you and everyone else, you know?"

"Yeah," he nodded, taking her hand. "You'll never lose me, though. You're literally my platonic soulmate, dude. We're practically siblings at this point. Plus, I seriously doubt Alex is ever going to leave you alone. That guy is so in love with you."

"You're so sweet sometimes," Delilah laughed. "Why do you have to be a total dickhead 99% of the time?"

"Because I hate being vulnerable," he muttered. "It makes me feel stupid. Like, when we first started being friends, and UGIS brought up my dad? I wanted to die when everyone was watching me cry. It sucked."

Delilah's eyes softened and she wrapped Brandt in a hug. "It's okay to show your emotions, dude. You know that, right?"

"I guess," he sighed. "That's probably part of the reason why I'm such a horrible boyfriend. I don't think I've tried to have a single meaningful conversation with her yet."

"Just... be yourself, man," she smiled. "The fact that you're actually super sweet is one of the reasons why I love you. I'll bet Heather is hoping for you to open up more to her too."

"...thanks," he mumbled.

"For what?" she asked.

"For being my friend. And for loving me."
