As the squad headed back to the base, all was quiet. The droids did not peruse the off the base. Mimix did not leave Cariko's side she was worried about him. Cassatopia didn't seem to mind that Mimix was near Cariko just so long she let him rest. It had been a quiet ride. Nothing out of the ordinary. By this time Volta and Jinx had switched with two other crew members that had joined them in the juggernaut for the rescue mission.
The juggernaut soon slowed to a stop.
"What's going on now..?" Spirit mumbled to himself.
Volta glared and looked around.
"Why the hell are we stopped?" Volta questioned.
At that moment, one of the crew members stepped out of the cockpit.
"You guys got to see what's going on outside." The crew member said.
Spirit would cautiously look outside. Volta would climb out of the hatch and to the front of the juggernaut. As everyone looked outside of the juggernaut. As Volta climbed out and the rest of the members looked outside, they would all see BID soldiers celebrating Echo Squad.
"Apparently, we are the reason that they've made it this far in their advance. They were at a stalemate with the enemy back at the original lines." The juggernaut crew member said.
Spirit would be tilting his head at the celebrating still inside the juggernaut not knowing what it was all about.
"I've just realized that we gave our allies a major moral boost by pushing like we did." Volta said over comms.
Skeleton was surprised that the rescue mission that was so hastily prepared did something besides rescue the two padawans. Volta got down from the juggernaut and was met by greetings and friendly hugs from the BID soldiers. The rest of Echo Squad and the accompanying soldiers from the juggernaut crew also exited the tank at this point.
After a few moments of shaking hands he would go to sit down and started to clean his guns.
"What is it with you and cleaning your guns like 24/7?" Spirit asked.
"He probably doesn't want his weapons to jam up or anything." Skeleton stated.
"He cleans it every time he sits. If anything, the cleaner is going to clog it up." Spirit argued.
"It probably keeps him calm, something to still his hands." Mimix would add.
"Eh, well, this is Volta we are talking about." Spirit agreed.
"Makes me not want to shoot you Spirit." Volta said emotionlessly.
"Hey! What the hell man!" Spirit asked exasperated.
"Same goes for Skeleton." Volta added.
"Don't threaten your squad mates with shooting them!" Spirit warned.
"It's not a falsity, it's truth." Volta replied.
"But Volta you still shouldn't due that." Spirit urged.
Volta ignored Spirit and went back to cleaning his guns. As the BID start to move on Echo Squad would hear a gunship approaching. As the last of he BID solders head out, Volta could see one solider was giving him the death stare. Little did anyone know that this was Vix's older brother.
"Got a problem with me solider?" Volta asked not paying attention.
"You had a problem with my sister?" The solider retorted glare still held.
"Your sister?" Volta echoed.
"They say you let her fall out of the gunship!" The solider yelled.
"That was not intentional, but she was dead and one of my brothers nearly killed himself trying to save her. And at the end, her death forced me to kill one of my own. I recommend you leave." Volta stated.
'You could have stopped her from falling out!" The solider yelled.
"I had to hold my comrade from jumping out." Volta replied calmly.
"If you had stopped her from falling out he wouldn't have tried to jump out! It's your fault Vix is dead!" The solider yelled throwing a punch at Volta.
Skeleton ran over his pistol set to stun as Volta caught the punch.
"YOUR SISTER WAS DEAD BEFORE SHE FELL OUT DUMBASS!" Volta snapped signaling for Skeleton to stand down.
The solider tried to kick Volta.
"She still deserved to make it back to base! You bitch!" The solider said with pain in his voice.
"A flak round hit our gunship. I wasn't willing to let my brothers risk their own lives at that point." Volta said taking the kick to his armor.
"You could have grabbed her! If you were close enough to stop your brother you were close enough to grab her!" Pain laced the soldier's voice.
"I recommend you back away solider before I hurt you which I'd rather not do. Also, why would I go for a corpse before my brother when I struggled enough to hold him alone? I lead my squad now off the basis of what happened to Vix and my brother Okami so that it never happens again." Volta hissed.
"You are a sorry excuse for a clone!" The solider snapped holding his glare and pulling out a knife.
Skeleton shot the solider with a stun shot from his pistol.
"Sorry but this is where I draw the line." Skeleton murmured.
"Skeleton you fool I had it under control I had my hand on my dc17." Volta stated.
Spirit walked over to the solider and looked down at him.
"What the hell was his deal?" Spirit asked.
"Punk had something against Volta." Skeleton stated.
The squad was eventually informed that this solider is named Ryan. He was Vix's older brother before she died. He was still not over the events of her death and is constantly haunted by it. Thinking if he was there he could have saved her, that Volta should have saved her.
