Reject Squad: the struggle of commandos

"All available troopers report for briefing!"  Ordered Commander Aplam over comms. 

Volta was the first up, he started to grab his gear as he moved towards the briefing room. Okami was hanging out with Vix around this time he sighed.

"I'll be back soon, Ok." Okami told her as he headed off to the briefing room. 

Vix smiled and waved him off as all of the clones headed to the briefing room. Volta was first to arrive followed closely by Shinx and Okami. They all took their seats and listened for the plan. 

"This mission will include all clone personal and Balkerin forces including the resistance." Aplam explained. "Men, today is the day we liberate the Balkerin capital from enemy occupation." Aplam stated.

The personal in the room just listened as the plan was told to them.  

"The ARCs and commandos will be inserted by a gunship through the waterfront." Aplam told the room. 

"We just got back two days ago and they are sending us out again..." Okami thought in disdain.

"The regular clones along with the BID forces will assault the city once the infiltration team shuts down the batteries that protect the city."  

The briefing would soon end and the team would go to gear up and get ready for the mission. Once they were all ready, they started to bored the gunship. Volta did a quick check over his gear to ensure he had everything. Volta then grabbed onto the gunships rails. The gunship took off towards the capital at a low altitude. Upon landing landing upon a beach everyone piled out. 

"Everyone create a perimeter! Move out!" Thyph ordered.

Okami moved out with his squad keeping his eye out in case there was trouble. Volta kept his Z-6 minigun raised as he had a bad feeling about what was going to happen, it seemed too easy in his mind. As the team entered the capital, they saw the streets were littered with abandoned cars and trucks. 

"We could use these for cover if it arises don't you think?" Okami asked. 

"This doesn't feel right."  Volta said in the comms.

"I think we all feel that way right now." Okami said in comms.

As the team moved through the city, they would see no  droids or commonwealth soldiers anywhere. Okami started to look on edge at the silence engulfing them.

"We need to find a place to camp out maybe one of those tall skyscrapers would give a better view or we switch to thermal." Volta suggested in comms. 

"Everyone switch to thermal." Commanded Thyph in comms. 

Everyone heeded the orders and switched to thermal. Volta used this opportunity to look around the buildings but nothing showed.

"This isn't right be ready for anything." Volta said.

 After awhile of searching, there was a small blip detected in one of the buildings. 

 "We have a sign unsure if its an explosive or a hostile." Volta said while looking at the building. 

"I wouldn't go near it if I were you." Okami said in a warning tone.

The blip would start to take the form of a human.

"We have a possible hostile in that building," Volta stated. 

"Or it could be someone in trouble, either way, what are you planning?" Okami interjected.

"I can go check it out," he looked at Thyph, "With permission captain." He added.   

"It could be the cannon controls that we are looking for. Take a couple ARCs with you Volta." Thyph said.

"Yes sir," Volta said. "I need a few ARCs to move up on this building with me to check out possible hostiles sightings." Volta said in the comms.

Volta would move up on the building, several ARCs following him. Volta and the ARCs would breach the building moving inside. As Volta and the ARCs moved towards the source of the blip they could hear movement. Volta attached a grenade splitter  to a wall full of smoke grenades activating it. As the room filled with smoke Volta along with the ARCs breached the room, they met no form of resistance or gun fire. Volta turned on his thermal vision and peered around the room, he saw a human scrabble to a corner of the room. 

"Who's here?" Volta demanded 

Volta pointed his gun at the human and the ARCs followed his lead pointing their own guns in the direction of the human. As the smoke cleared they could see that the human was a small scared child. Volta set his gun down and took his helmet off. 

"Head back to the squad guys, tell them it was just a child." Volta ordered as he slowly approached the child. 

The ARCs left the room but didn't leave the floor the room was on. The child looked up at Volta, cowering away from him, pressing himself tighter into the corner. 

"Kiddo, it's ok I wont hurt you, " Volta reassured "Why are you here alone?" He asked the child. 

"T-the soldiers... a-and the robots. They made everyone leave but  stayed." The kid replied fearfully. 

"Captain, it was a child, what should we do here? We can't have a child in a combat zone."   Volta said in the comms.

"See what he knows then bring him down." Thyph said through the comms. 

"What do you know about the men and robots?" Volta asked the kid. 

"T-they forced people to leave... t-then they started doing... things..." The kid shakily replied.

"What kinds of things?" Volta asked calmly. 

"Those cars down there...they put them there and left them." The kid said shakily. 

"Captain, the cars they were put down below watch yourselves." Volta said in comms. 

"Cut the kid loose and get back down here." Thyph said through the comms.

"Yes sir." Volta said in comms.

"You get out of here kiddo." Volta told the kid. 

Volta put his helmet back on and grabbed his Z6 as headed out of the building heading back to the formation. The kid ran off as Volta got back to the formation. 

"What do these cars have to do with the separatist!?"  Thyph demanded. 

"The kid didn't know anything sir but, he did say they moved them here and left them. I think we may be walking into an ambush." Volta stated. 

"Then what is it about the cars?" Asked Thyph.

"We need need to get a scan are those cars now! Scan the material they are made out of, they could be made out of that material from the warehouse!" Volta exclaimed. 

"Wait you don't think?" Thyph asked 

An ARC trooper did a scan on one of the cars. 

"I'm picking up an unknown material." The ARC trooper stated. 

"WE NEED TO GET OUT OF THE CITY NOW!" Volta yelled. 

"For once I agree with Volta!" Agreed Okami. 

"Okami!" A voice called out from behind him.

Okami stiffens and  looks around. 

"Who's there?!" Okami asked.

Vix and her squad were walking over to the formation. 

"You weren't kidding when you said the city was clear." Vix said.

"It's not safe here Vix! You and your squad need to evacuate now!" Okami urged. 

"What why?" Vix asked, "You said it was safe for the BID forces to enter the city over the radio." Vix stated.

"None of us said the city was clear." Volta commented.

"Vix, I never said that, no one said it." Okami said his voice a bit on edge. 

"We heard you over the radio." Vix stated. 

"Vix! Listen to me none of us said that!" Okami said in a panicked tone.

"Then who did?" Asked Vix.

"We have been talking over clone comms not open frequency." Stated Volta.

"They knew our plan." Thyph figured. 

"You need to get out now! This place isn't safe!" Okami exclaimed.

"These cars are made of a highly explosive material we need to go now they aren't really workable vehicles the droids and commonwealth soldiers brought them here and left them we have a traitors in our ranks." Volta deduced. 

"Everyone leave the city." Ordered Thyph over a radio. 

"Sir we should scatter and meet back at the gunships it should help lessen casualties." Volta suggested. 

As the Republic and BID forces started to retreat from the city racing towards the gunship, the cars started exploding around the city. Forcing them into a tighter formation preventing the scattering that Volta had suggested. Buildings collapsed around them, Okami noticed that Vix was starting to fall behind. He fell back in attempts to help her catch up, his mind racing with fear. As the two ran past the last car leading out of the city, it exploded sending them both flying through the air.  Okami grabbed Vix and pulled her close bracing for impact. 

"Shit!" Yelled Volta, he quickly got on the comm units, "We need a medic now! We have injured!" Volta urged.
