Reject Squad: the struggle of commandos

Foothold

A full day had passed since the destruction of the comms facility and Echo Squad was starting to settle into life on the front lines which was a couple miles away from the BID capital. On the front lines along with Echo Squad there were a mix of clones, what soldiers the had BID left, and local militias.  Okami would sit up and sigh softly while shaking his head. Thyph would sit on his rack while cleaning his bucket. Okami looked over to his side as random amounts of explosion and gunfire could be heard from varying distances, Okami would jump at the sound. 

"God dammint..." He mumbled.

Thyph would pause for a moment to listen  to the sounds of war before going back to cleaning his helmet. Okami took a deep breath and stretched to avoid getting stiff again, he thought back to his starfighter accident shuddering as he remembered how that day was almost his last. 

"This is commander Apalm! I need elements of second platoon officers as well as echo time squad lead to report for an officer's meeting."  Apalm commed Thyph alone. 

"Roger that heading there now." Thyph replied.

Thyph got up and dawned on his black stealth armor before heading to the meeting room. Okami would watch him go but shrugged it off seeing as Thyph would let the squad know if they all had to go someplace. 

Upon arrival in the meeting room Thyph sat in one of the chairs. Some time passed and Thyph soon returned to the barracks and formed Echo Squad up. 

"Listen up, we have an assignment." Thyph announced.

"We do? It's not a lame one is it?" Asked Okmai 

"We are assisting in an assault on a facility with second platoon just north east of our lines." Thyph stated. "Any questions?" Thyph added. 

None of Echo asked anything. 

"Alright let's get ready." Thyph said.

Echo Squad went to go get ready for their mission. Once they were all done getting ready, the members of Echo followed Thyph to the meeting place. Soon they were joined by the second platoon. At this time the second platoon was preparing to go over defenses. 

"Get ready men!" Thyph yelled.

"You dont have to shout." Growled Okami.

"Go go go!" Thyph shouted over the comms.

Echo Squad took off with the second platoon. However, after a few moments of charging, enemy fire starts pouring in. Luckily for the group it was mainly ballistic rounds. The rounds pathetically bounced off their armor not seeming to do anything.  Okami would grit his teeth in annoyance as the group pressed on. Clones began to open fire as did Echo Squad. Volkarian commonwealth troops tried their best to hold off the platoon but were powerless to do so. Some jumped out of the trenches hoping to escape the battle field. 

Okami gave chase to one of the deserters who tried to get away from him. Shinx was doing his best to keep up with Okami but lost him. Okami tackled one of them as the rest of the clones along with Thyph and Volta began to hop into the trenches and cleared them out. Volkarian commonwealths dropping as if they were just meek prey. The man that Okami had pinned tried to get away.

"Stop your damn squirming!" Okami said as he punched the guy in the head knocking him out. 

Frustrated, Okami started to drag the man back to the platoon. 

"No time to rest! Keep pushing!" Thyph ordered.

At this time Okami got up to Thyph and dropped the unconscious man at Thyph's feet. 

"Good work." Thyph said 

Okami gave a curt nod in response. 

"Tie him up, reinforcements will deal with him."  Thyph ordered.

Okami went to tie the man up as the rest of the platoon pressed forward. Once Okami tied the man up securely he rushed back to join the others. The second platoon pushed on unopposed until they reached a recently abandoned town. Based on the scattered clothing and bags, the towns people must have left in a hurry.  Okami and Volta started to investigate going in diffrent directions to cover more ground. The rest of the second platoon soon followed Okami and Volta's lead in the search. As the platoon searched they found more signs pointing to the natives being forced to leave. Suddenly, whistling was heard as shells flew overhead into a building.  

"Head for cover! Artillery incoming!" A clone officer yelled.

Volta would take cover on a nearby hillside, the others dove for cover where they could. They all soon saw three tanks on the hill Volta was on. Two commonwealth tanks... and one CIS AAT tank. Volta set up a small mortar tube that he looted off a commonwealth solider. He'd fire it tracking one of the commonwealth tanks. The very tank that Volta tracked, began to open fire towards the town with it's main cannon and machine guns. Okami began to open fire on one of the tanks. Volta stood up and pulled his RPG onto his shoulder, he would fire a rocket at the CIS tank it exploded the tank on impact. Okami sniped the driver out of the common wealth tank stopping the tank dead in it's tracks. Volta would launch another mortar at the tank with the now dead driver causing the tank's mutations to explode. 

"We need to handle that artillery still." Volta stated. 

"Shut it mr. obvious!" Okami snaped.
