Goodbyes Sure Do Suck

"I wish I had better news. We don't have much time" Alaric told them in his office. It was currently Lizzie, MG, Kaleb, Jed, and Evelyn there cause Hope was looking for Rafael as they were thinking of a way to save him "Super Squad always saves the day" MG stated "What do you need us to do?" Lizzie asked "Anything we can" Alaric told them "We should also make a plan for if... things don't go our way" Kaleb commented and Evelyn scoffed "What? We got to be realistic about our odds here" "Keep thinking like that and my canines into your neck" Evelyn threatened sweetly. Okay no biting of any kind" Alaric told Evelyn then turned to Kaleb "You leave the worst-case scenario up to me. In the meantime, just keep looking for loopholes. Jed, the pack should be with him right now" "Pack can't help with this, Dr. S" Jed commented "Why not?" Alaric asked "A dying wolf separates himself from the pack. We have to respect his privacy, keep our distance unless he chooses to reach out to us" Jed explained "Is that how you'd want to be treated?" Alaric coldly asked "Sorry. It's just our nature" Jed said "It's just how things are done it's suck but it's what it is. That's why I don't want to be part of a pack when I die I want to be surrounded by the people I love" Evelyn stated. 

"Right, Lizzie, the witches... Have them keep trying any and all healing spells" Alaric told her "Already on it" she stated "Plus, we gave Raf an elixir that links him to the lunar cycle. It's a Band-Aid, but it will hold off his symptoms until the morning" "When he drops dead" Kaleb blurts out "Okay I'm about to kill this guy" Evelyn voiced out and was about to but Jed put his hand on her shoulder holding her back. "I said that out loud" Kaleb said "I am so..." "My point is, if anyone can find a way to save him, it's us" Lizzie interrupted him then the door opened revelling Hope "There's only one problem with that" she told them "Rafael took off. He's gone" "Of course he is" Evelyn mumbled.

Hope and Evelyn walked into the library to find more books that can help even though they had plenty vampires speed reading the books they still wanted to make sure. Hope got to the shelf and pulled a book while Evelyn was looking for something that has to do with healing. "So, about those healing spells" Lizzie spoke and the couple turned around to see her covered in smoke dirt "None of them worked?" Hope stated "Not as intended" Lizzie commented "Well, the day is not over yet" Hope said walking to the table past Lizzie and putting the book down "We just need to find more information about this" Evelyn said "Guys, we've tried everything" Lizzie told them "You know what we need to do" "We're not doing a linking spell" Hope said "That's not an option" Evelyn told Lizzie. "Why not? It's the exact thing that you did - to save me from the Merge" Lizzie said "But that was different. If I link Landon to Raf, Landon would have to die and resurrect every single day" Hope told her "And we don't know how many resurrection cards he has, and I am not to keen to find out. It's to risky and could kill them both" Evelyn argued "Well, have you thought about what Landon would want?" Lizzie asked and that made Evelyn more angry "What gives you the right to say that?" she asked annoyed "It's all about what Landon wants but what of me because if he does have a limit and he died everyday I'll be the one that loses them both!" It was then that something clicked in Hope's head "I might have another idea."

"Are you sure about this?" Hope asked him while Evelyn looked at Rafael and Lizzie still made at the boy "Uh, I mean, it's kind of ironic, huh? Raf spent all day yesterday convincing me to go back inside my body, and today he needs me to give the most important piece of it away" Landon stated and Evelyn scoff "Not the most important piece" Evelyn blurts out It's not the most important piece. "You sure about that?" Landon asked but Evelyn didn't respond "It doesn't... it doesn't matter. I'd lay in front of a bus for him. At least this plan seems a lot less painful" "We're ready" Lizzie called for them and they went to meet them. "Um... Let's get started" Lizzie told them "Moppet, you are here. Raf, there. And, Hope, Evelyn, you're moral support, so don't screw it up" "Thanks" Hope said "You can do it guys" Evelyn commented. Lizzie entered the circle and put her hands on Landon shoulders to siphon out of him though nothing was happening "You can start now" Hope said "I did start, but nothing's happening" Lizzie told them "What do you mean?" Hope asked "There isn't any magic in the moppet to siphon" Lizzie stated "I don't understand" Hope said "Are you saying..." Evelyn stopped her sentence coming to the realisation "She means I'm not a phoenix anymore." Landon stated.

"It makes sense. The golden arrow felled the phoenix, just like the prophecy said" Landon explained "Wait. But you were brought back" Rafael stated "He was but not the other part" Evelyn said "Yes I was brought back as a human, but the phoenix part of me daed, leaving me one final, mortal life" Landon stated "I should have known. I can feel it. I feel... different" "I can't believe that this is happening" Hope blurts out walking around in panic until Evelyn stops her by taking her hand in hers smoothing it. "We'll run more tests. Maybe there's something - we missed" Lizzie said "I can go outside and try to fly" Landon suggested and Evelyn scoffed again I seem to be doing that lately and was about to say something not very nice lucky for her Hope took this one "How? By jumping off a roof and hoping you sprout wings before you break your neck?" she stated "No!" Rafael shouts "I don't want to waste another second fighting a losing battle. I want to make the most of whatever little time that I have left. Just want to be with... with my friends. I want to go out on my own terms."

Hope and Evelyn were outside Hope was sitting on a big chunk of stone while Evelyn was leaning on a tree in front of Hope as they were looking at the beautiful sky that was currenty purple "Hey" Rafael called them holding a keg  "Could use those Tribrid and Hybrid muscles. Got a couple more kegs I need to haul over. But I can see that you're not in the mood for a, um... for a party" he then walked towards them sitting beside Hope and Evelyn sat of the floor in-front of them. "I think I'm just a sore loser" Hope spoke "You and me both" Evelyn mumbled "I've beaten death more times than I care to count, and I really thought we were gonna beat it again." Hope explained "I'm really sorry" Evelyn voiced out "You're my family and I couldn't even protect you" "Hey, uh... it's okay, Guys" he sternly said "I'm serious. You guys didn't fail me so don't think like that and I'm not afraid. I believe that everyone gets their own version of heaven. For me, it's gonna be my best day ever, just on a loop. A day outside with the people I love. But... I'm gonna appreciate everything I can while I'm here. I mean, a supernova that we can actually see with our naked eye?" they looked at the beautiful sky "Yeah it is amazing" Evelyn commented. "I mean, that's once in a lifetime" he stated "A lifetime" Hope mumbled "Hey, um, there's something that I need you to do. It's, uh, one last favour, it's, uh, for Landon" Rafael was cut of by Hope standing and grabbing Evelyn "Sorry. We can't right now" she told him pulling Evelyn away and Evelyn sent a shrugged to Rafael who looked very confused.

Hope figured out a way to make Rafael live and that was to put his conciousness in a prison world well in Rafael case his dream world. Evelyn was currently in it when she saw Rafael and decided to go talk to him. "Hey wolfie" Evelyn spoke sitting beside in on the deck "Hey Evie" he replied and it was silent "I'm not one to say goodbye Raf, so this isn't one it's simply a see you later okay?" Evelyn stated "I promise I'll visit you time to time when I am in need of your wisdom" he laughed "Well I am available any time you need" he said "Though a piece of advice forgive Landon" Evelyn sighed. "I want to I just hate how things turned out. I mean I could have died and broken my promise to Hope because he wanted to play hero and I know he had good intentions, but i can't help but wonder Hope's face when she wakes up and realises yet again she lost another love one another family member. I want to put it past me I really do but I could have lost Hope forever" Evelyn explained "I know, so what are you going to do?" he asked and Evelyn chucked "Shouldn't I be asking you that wise one" she teased "But I don't know and now with him being human again I'm afraid I won't be able to protect him like it was okay when he was a phoenix he could resurrect so it didn't matter much but now that he's human he is more..." "Vulnerable" "Yes and I don't think I can protect him" "I'm afraid I don't have any wise words to help you" he told her but she just smiled "You listening helped" she said "See you later brother" "Till next time sister."
