"Thanks to Cleo's vision, we know the gods are planning an attack on our school. The good news is we get to choose the field of battle" Alaric said "We know he's after me. So, I'm gonna draw him here" Hope told them moving her chess piece "I'll cover back up" Evelyn commented. "The tree line will prevent him from using lightning strikes" Ben said "If we fail, we have a fallback" Hope stated "You think we're gonna lose?" Jed asked "No. But we might. Either way, we need to stop him" Hope answered. "Ben was telling us about a mixture that the Spartans used to harm the gods" Alaric states "White fire and brimstone." "Phosphorous and sulfur" MG blurts out "Exactly" Alaric said. 

"If we can rig the whole meadow for a chain reaction and get Ken in the middle, the explosion will likely incapacitate him" Alaric stated "Now, Cleo's gonna get more intel. The witches and vampires need to get the minerals. And Ben will show the wolves how to set up the bomb before you have to report to the bunker for the full moon" "I'm sorry, why are we trusting this guy again?" Jed asked pointing to Ben "Oh a lovers' quarrel" Evelyn whispered to Hope. "Because he's proven to me that he's on our side" Alaric stated "Wait, whoever triggers the explosion, they're not gonna get clear in time, are they? Even at vamp speed" Lizzie said "Probably not" Hope answered. "So... who's doing that?" MG asked  "I'm working on it" Hope told them "Well, perhaps Ethan could, with the use of his powers" Ben suggested. "He can't" Both Lizzie and MG said "We'd explain why, but that's something that we should talk to him about first" MG told them "I'll be in my office if you need anything" Alaric stated but Hope stopped him "No. You have something else to do" Hope told him leaving Evelyn following behind.

Evelyn was currently watching Hope kick Alaric's ass and she was enjoying it. "You got this grandpa!" she cheered which just made him lose focus. "Keep your weight back. You can't pivot like you used to" Hope told him "I can't do much of anything like I used to" Alaric said going back to fighting with her "At least his aware" Evelyn commented "Though then again that's why Hope's training you" "Go again" Hope told him. "Seriously? If I would've given up before a training session was over, I would've gotten a quote from The Art of war" Hope told him "Oh, those once are good" Evelyn said "Look, I appreciate what you're trying to do, but we both know where this is headed" Alaric told her. "Okay, I can take it slower. We can..." Hope was cut off "You ran every part of your plan through the Manticulum, right? Well, what did it say when you asked about the last move? About who should detonate that explosion? Well, you didn't ask, because you didn't want to hear the answer. This has to be me" Alaric stated and by the look on Hope's face Evelyn knew it wasn't quite right.

"Absolutely not" Hope told him "It's the only play that makes sense. I won't be much use in any other part of the fight" Alaric stated "Because of what I did to you" Hope said "Hope! You can't keep blaming yourself for that" Evelyn told her. "That's not fair" Hope said "None of what's coming is fair, Hope. That's what Landon was trying to tell you. You have to stay alive, but not everyone else will" Alaric said "The more you put that down the more people get hurt" Evelyn voiced out understanding what Alaric means." I'm literally doing the opposite. No, you're using the explosion as the fallback plan. You're the one who's on defence, when that should be our first, best option" Alaric said "If we do that, we're guaranteeing that someone's gonna die" Hope told him "And what if it works? How many lives will we save then?" Alaric asked. "You know, everyone keeps telling me I need to accept death. Fine. That doesn't mean I have to choose it" Hope said "Then ask the question. Use the Manticulum and prove me wrong" Alaric told her and Hope walked away scoffing.

Evelyn knew how stressed Hope was so she decided to do something special for her. They maybe about to die any minute but Evelyn can't help but be a romantic. At the back of the school Evelyn removed Hope's blindfold to revel a picnic. "Now I know that we could be struck by lightening any minute now, but I still wanted to have one date with you" Evelyn told her bringing her down to seat "Nothing like having a date when the world is about to end" Hope said eating some of the cookies. Evelyn looked at the sky then at Hope "Have I told you how beautiful you are?" Evelyn asked her "You may have mentioned it" Hope said smiling "Well you are gorgeous darling" Evelyn told her and Hope tried to hide her blush "So I you my love" Hope said. Hope rested her head on Evelyn's chest as the hybrid hugged her. They didn't have to say anything their body talked for them.

"I know who you're going to use" Evelyn said breaking the silence and Hope broke the hug looking at her "Do you hate me?" Hope asked and Evelyn shook her head "There isn't a world where I'd hate you" Evelyn answered. "I don't want to do it" Hope told her "Yeah I know, but I'll be there with you when you tell" Evelyn reassured her. "He's going to be angry" Hope said "Of course he will it's his daughter after all" Evelyn said then hugged Hope "But forget about then now it's just you and I watching the sky" Hope looked at it. "It's beautiful" she blurts out and Evelyn looked at Hope and smiled "Yes she is" Evelyn said.

"Did you figure out who the triggerman is gonna be?" Lizzie asked sitting down in Alaric's office as Hope sat on the chair and Evelyn beside her "Still working on it" Hope told her and exhaled seeing Lizzie's face "What's wrong?" "You look conflicted" Evelyn stated. "Besides the end of the world, I mean. MG told me he loves me" Lizzie answered "What?" Evelyn asked, shocked "Wow" Hope said speechless "Okay, um... Did you say it back?" "I didn't say anything. I just froze" Lizzie confessed "Dude" Evelyn winced. She has been shipping them since the time they kissed at the merge birthday party. "And then I was supposed to help him with Ethan, but... I just chickened out again and ran away. It's weird. It's like I don't even want to ask myself the question" Lizzie stated "Maybe you're afraid of getting an answer. Once you have one, nothing's gonna be the same" Hope suggested "Exactly. How did you know?" Lizzie asked and Hope looked at Evelyn before sighing. "I've been doing the same thing. I've been avoiding part of the battle plan because I didn't want to know who we were gonna lose. But I asked myself the question. I hate this, but... I think you should know who it is" Hope said handing the results to her.

Hope came back exhuasted from telling Alaric it was gonna be Lizzie. She just couldn't get the picture of his face out. She understood it perfectly like if it was Evelyn in Lizzie's shoes would she had made the choice? Hope went into her room where Evelyn was resting "How did he take it?" Evelyn asked "He was angry for a while" Hope said "Don't worry I'm sure he'll come to the same conclusion as you when he talks to Lizzie" Evelyn said. Hope raised an eyebrow in confusion "Is daughters life is on stake of course he will try and talk her out of it" Evelyn said going to Hope "That is true. He's quite stubborn" Hope stated. "Kinda like someone I know. You know the days not over yet" Evelyn said glancing at Hope's lips "Right when we're about to go to war" Hope stated and Evelyn kissed her "Better make the fun of the time we have now" Evelyn said, smiling and kissing Hope again. Hope screamed happily as Evelyn threw her on the bed kissing her. This is the most alive they felt until they were faced with death again.
