The Serpent girl had been in complete bliss since she woke up in the soft and cosy bed that cradled her now.
Though it wasn’t the soft linen against her skin that warmed her heart and made the smile grow on her lips, it was the adorable redhead curled into her side that caused such exhilaration.
She knew she should get up and get on with what was expected from her for the day, but her heart and her head were having a dispute. She’d found this happening more frequently, and especially involving the Princess next to her, ever since their kiss in the field a couple weeks ago.
Almost foolishly, Toni had let Cheryl convince her that her bedroom was the perfect place to continue her reading practice. Every night, and almost every night she ended up falling asleep in that soft and cosy bed. It was a miracle that the Queen hadn’t caught them yet.
She took in every detail of the sleeping girl next to her; how her lips kept twitching as she dreamt or the loose, soft hair strands that fell onto her peaceful face. She couldn’t help but lightly brush those strands out of her face; brown eyes fluttered open and connected with the Serpent’s own set.
“Good morning sleepy head.” Toni kissed Cheryl’s head with a wide smile.
“What time is it?” The Princess mumbled bleary-eyed.
“I have no idea, but I should really probably get up.” Toni dragged herself into a sitting position.
Cheryl seemed to ignore the brunette’s words as she shuffled further into her arms as she snuggled into her warmth.
“Can you imagine there ever being a day where we don’t have to move from our bed?” Cheryl looked to the girl next to her revelling in the warmth under the covers across their laps.
Toni chuckled as she pulled the redhead into her, her arms wrapped around her small frame. “Do you have any other daydreams that are as equally unattainable?”
Cheryl looked across the room and avoided the brown eyes that were searching her face. “I just want to live in a time where I feel alive and I’m loved. I want to be somewhere where I can be me; my truest self with no fear.” She’d never spoken the words out loud before. She’d never even admitted to them to herself in her head.
“That sounds nice.” Toni admitted that it did indeed sound nice.
“And you could be there too.” Cheryl followed up quickly as she now watched the Serpent.
“You’d really want that?” Toni would be lying if she said it wasn’t one of her first thoughts that came to mind when Cheryl mentioned about being her truest self that she’d hoped she would be included in that scenario.
“Of course, I would.” the Princess stressed as she sat up straighter in the bed and clasped onto Toni’s rough hands with her soft ones. The redhead leant forwards and lightly captured the brunette’s lips with her own.
“I will never tire of this.” Toni sighed contented as Cheryl released her.
“Hey, Cheryl!”
The pair jumped apart before Toni leapt out of the bed and threw on her Riverdale tunic over her underclothes that was lying across a chair next to the bed. Cheryl had panic written across her face as she drew her eyes away from the girl rushing about the room and to the door that had half opened.
“Oh shoot! … Found it!” Elizabeth proclaimed as she threw open the door fully to reveal herself kneeling on the floor in the doorway.
“Sorry, dropped my earring, but I found it. Good morning, Antoinette.” Elizabeth greeted the brunette as she opened the curtains to Cheryl’s room. The girls thanked fate for causing the blonde to drop her earring; it gave them enough time to look less suspicious.
