In the days that followed, Katsuki decided to focus on healing himself. He surrounded himself with supportive friends and immersed himself in college, hoping that time would help dull the ache in his heart. He knew forgiving Kaminari wouldn't be easy, but he also understood the importance of addressing his feelings before considering any possibility of reconciliation.
Katsuki sat on his bed the day before the dance, scrolling through the messages Kaminari had sent him over the past few days. Each letter was a mix of heartfelt apologies, sincere regrets, and desperate pleas for forgiveness. Katsuki couldn't deny that Kaminari's words were affecting him, stirring up a whirlwind of emotions he had been trying to suppress.
Katsuki's mind wavered between anger, hurt, and a hint of longing as he read the messages. He knew he had to address the situation before it escalated further, but he resented that he had already purchased the tickets for the dance. The thought of facing Kaminari in such a public and celebratory setting made his stomach churn.
With a sigh, Katsuki decided he couldn't let the unresolved tension continue. He picked up his phone and typed a measured response to Kaminari, requesting to meet somewhere. He wanted a face-to-face conversation to clear the air and end the lingering uncertainty.
Kaminari's response was almost immediate, filled with gratitude and a touch of hope. They agreed to meet at a nearby park, a quiet spot where they had shared many meaningful conversations. Katsuki felt anxiety and determination as he prepared himself for the meeting.
When the moment arrived, Katsuki found himself at the park, his heart pounding. He spotted Kaminari sitting on a bench, nervously tapping his fingers against his thigh. Katsuki took a deep breath and approached, his expression guarded but open to the possibility of closure.
"Hey," Katsuki said, his voice a mix of emotions.
"Hey," Kaminari replied, his eyes locking onto Katsuki's with apprehension and longing.
They both sat down, the silence between them heavy with unspoken words. Katsuki finally spoke, his tone firm but not unkind. "Look, Kaminari, I appreciate your messages and willingness to make things right, but what you did to me was a pretty dick move,"
Kaminari nodded, his gaze downcast. "I know, Katsuki. I can't even begin to express how sorry I am for what I did. It was a terrible mistake, and I wish I could take it back."
Katsuki sighed, his fingers tracing patterns on the bench. "Well, you fucking can't. We had something special, Kaminari...something I thought was worth wild, but you shut down and gave into temptation that I would have gladly fucking given you!"
Kaminari's eyes glistened with unshed tears. "I'm a moron; I know that, but...I don't want to lose you."
Katsuki sighed, tearing his gaze from Kaminari. "You should've thought about that before you almost fucked another guy because of lust,"
Kaminari was in tears. He had no idea how much damage he'd done to his ex-boyfriend. He never considered himself unloyal, but it just shows that he didn't trust himself enough to tell his partner his desires, wants, and needs. Because of it, he'd lost the person who made him feel whole.
"I'll forgive you," Katsuki announced. "But I won't forget what you did to me," he explained.
Silence settled between them, the moment's weight hanging heavily in the air. Katsuki took a deep breath and turned to leave, his steps deliberate but heavy with the weight of the past. Kaminari remained seated on the bench, watching as Katsuki walked away, his heart aching with regret and longing.
Meanwhile, Katsuki guided himself to meet his friends at the basketball court; Izuku finished taking orders from his job before taking his fifteen-minute break.
After a busy rush of customers at the WOS burger joint, Izuku finally had a chance to breathe. He wiped his hands on his apron, a small but satisfied smile tugging at the corners of his lips. The aroma of sizzling burgers and fries filled the air around him as he looked around the bustling restaurant.
Izuku's colleagues hustled behind the counter, assembling orders with practiced efficiency. It was a well-oiled machine, and Izuku was proud to be a part of the team. He glanced at the clock and realized that his much-needed break was approaching.
"Hey, Midoriya, you're up for your break in a few," his co-worker Aoyama called out, giving him a friendly nod.
"Thanks, Aoyama," Izuku replied with a nod. He finished taking the last order for the moment and handed it off to the kitchen staff. He quickly wiped his hands and headed towards the employee break area.
The break room was a small space from the bustling restaurant floor. Izuku grabbed a bottled drink from the fridge, sank into a chair, and sighed in relief. He took a moment to check his phone, scrolling through his mother's messages to catch up on a few things.
Izuku's thoughts turned to his life and recent events as he sat there. He couldn't help but think about his friend Katsuki and his challenges with his breakup. The complexities of relationships weren't lost on Izuku, and he empathized with the tough decisions Katsuki had to make.
Taking a sip of his drink, Izuku pondered the importance of trust and communication in any relationship. He remembered instances when he had faced similar dilemmas, realizing that transparency and honest conversations were often the keys to resolving misunderstandings.
Izuku also thought about his desires and aspirations. He had been working at the burger joint for a while, enjoying his colleagues' fast-paced environment and camaraderie. However, he couldn't shake the feeling that he wanted something more—a challenge or an opportunity that would allow him to grow and expand his horizons.
Izuku set his drink aside and checked the time with a determined expression. His break was almost over, but he felt renewed purpose. He knew he wanted to continue supporting Katsuki through his difficult times, even if they had just become friends.
He stopped to think about Katsuki for a moment, how weirdly he approached him and how oddly they found each other again on one of their worst times. Katsuki had an aura that Izuku found attractive, not because of his perfectly sculpted face, as Izuku told himself, but the simple feeling of being close to him without fear. Katsuki became Izuku's comfort zone, and he wanted to be around him more, if possible.
As he returned to the restaurant floor, Izuku carried a sense of optimism and a reminder that even amid a busy workday, there were moments to reflect, recharge, and refocus. He greeted his co-workers with a friendly smile and dived back into the rhythm of the bustling burger joint, ready to tackle whatever challenges lay ahead.
