....
Her parents were indifferent to her. Kyoko didn't understand why she'd see other parents excited for their kids, but her parents were just there.
However, she never questioned it. She was a quiet child. Much too quiet other kids were afraid of her cold gaze.
One day. Her mother disappeared. Out of thin air. She couldn't find her even after searching for her in the entire house.
She poked her dad. She knew he didn't like it when anyone bothered him. But she was getting hungry. Really hungry. Her mother was nowhere to be found.
Dad:"She left. Now go do your homework."
Kyoko:"Yes dad-"
Dad:"Don't call me that. Just say father. Kyoko. Manners r important."
Kyoko:"Yes father... But what do we eat?"
Dad:"Sigh. I'm gonna order takeout. Now I'd appreciate it if u stop asking questions."
Kyoko:"Yes father."She left his study room and went to her room. She sat down holding her stomach while listening to it's growling noises.
Kyoko:"But I'm hungry..."
...Well they did eat afterwards. It's not like her father was that terrible of a parent. He made sure she goes to school. Eats her meals. But everytime Kyoko saw him. She could feel he was unbothered by her presence.
She wanted to ask him abt that, but whenever she did she'd get a vague answer. So she never brought the topic up again.
At school... No one would approach her. They were scared of how she looks. She never smiles. She never laughs...
A kid once threw at her some sand in her eyes. Kyoko shrieked and started rubbing her eyes. She doesn't normally cry but this forced her eyes to tear up.
"Hah? Ms zombie has emotions!!! Guys look Ms zombie is crying!!! Crybaby!!!"
"Komatsu ur really creeping everyone out yk? U look a bit normal now."
"Hey why do u go around like a robot?"They all stopped as they heard Kyoko mutter smthn.
"Huh? Speak up we can't hear u Ms zombie!"
Kyoko:"I said. Get. Out. Of. My. Way."Her cold gaze and angry tone made them run away scared. They ended up complaining to the teacher abt her.
...
The teacher took Kyoko in a corner.Teacher:"Try being nice, with them? Okay kyoko-chan?"
Kyoko:"They throw sand in my eyes. I'm supposed to be nice to such people?"The teacher flinched aback. Then got the other kids and had all of them disciplined. She wasn't aware of what they did to Kyoko, but after she heard her side she decided those kids were at fault.
Even though things didn't end as a big deal, Kyoko still didn't understand what she did wrong. Is it wrong to talk back? She's been enduring their backbiting all this time. Is she not supposed to speak for herself?
She sighed and decided to ignore what happened.
...
A few years later... She was in middle school. Same situation with her classmates. They only ever talk with her when they have something to ask her....
One day she was back from school. Her feet stopped in their place when she saw a kid on the floor who was hurt. He was crying....
She looked around. No one was beside the boy. Were his parents not with him?She may seem like a person who doesn't care at all abt others but she was very much concerned abt the kid.
That's why she slowly approached and crouched beside him.
