Ch. 38

Rei:"Kyokooooo-"
Kyoko:"Sthu."

She hit rei on the head. They were warming up for their match. Their opponent is actually strong. But not much people were there to watch the match because well... No one cared about girl's matches for u20 as much as they did for the u20 boys (⁠ ⁠╹⁠▽⁠╹⁠ ⁠).

There weren't exactly any risks for this match other than the reputation of either teams to go down the drain.

Rei had something bothering her head. So she decided to ask kyoko. Maybe she'll know.

Rei:"Hey. I just wanna uhmmm...."
Kyoko:"What?"

Rei looked like she was thinking. And to kyoko that was definitely not a good sign. Are the nerves getting to rei or something??

Kyoko:"R u nervous? Want me to give u a wake up call?"

Rei instantly backed away.

Rei:"NO NO NO NO!!! What do u take me for? I've played in front of many ppl before as well. Anyway I just wanted to ask u for help."
Kyoko:"For what? The match will start in ten minutes."
Rei:"Well since ur sae-nii's fan-"

Kyoko quickly interrupted.

Kyoko:"Not anymore. Don't call me his fan. No."
Rei:"Okay okay 🙄 he told me I'm still lukewarm while playing and I should focus on myself. What is focus on myself? Leave out the team???"

Kyoko thought of it for a bit. She started to recall sae's matches and his style of playing.

Rei is a striker. He's a midfielder. If he told rei to focus on herself...

Kyoko:"I think he just meant focus on scoring. Take things for urself."
Rei:"Eh but don't I already do that?"
Kyoko:"Hmm... Wait..."

Kyoko thought of it a bit more. What's the difference between rei and the strikers that sae has played with?..

Kyoko then began explaining.

Kyoko:"You. U still have doubts in ur head when u try to score by urself don't u?"

Rei flinched. Does she??? She tried to think of what she does when she scores... She does try to take the scoring for herself but she did be hesitant at some points. Is that what sae was trying to tell her? Stop hesitating?

Rei then let out grumbling noises.

Rei:"Then why can't he just tell me directly instead of making me think?"
Kyoko:"Yeah the one thing ur not good at and I had to do it for u."
Rei:"Hey!!"

Kyoko had a nonchalant look on her face while rei looked offended.

Kyoko: tch. I hate to admit it but itoshi sae truly is an amazing player. I don't think I noticed rei hesitating until she mentioned to me what he said to her... Ugh. I still have to improve. A lot better. So that I never have to look up to that piece of trash ever again.

Rei slightly noticed kyoko looked more fired up than usual. But that was good.

Rei made some little speech of encouragement for the rest of her team. Then they went ahead to start the match.

Well with kyoko and rei being on the same side the opposing team was having a hard time. This new striker of the u20 was really a lot better than the old one they faced. And with sae's advice and kyoko's interpretation, rei was playing better than before.

However certain someone was jealous. The striker of the team who was there before rei came in as her substitute ☺️

She couldn't just sit and watch as rei took everything from her so she demanded from the coach to get her in the match.
