ANDREA "Alice....you know I have come to realize how much I really love my daughter through Nathan's visits, and I wonder how life would be if she starts going to stay with her dad often".
"I don't understand..it wouldn't be a bad thing if she spends some time with Nathan , it would ease some of your burdens off..I thought you have always wanted time for yourself too".
"I just...I don't know Alice since Nathan came back....my life has been different".
"But it's not a problem for Beatrice right?".
"Where are you guys always all about Beatrice, what about me, every time we see,I realize he cares about Beatrice not me and it hurts".
"I see the problem now...you still have feelings for Nathan...and he's not seeing you but Beatrice".
"Yes....and the other day he asked if I was seeing someone...do you know how hard it has been for me when the people I meet realize I have a daughter, they become less interested and it hurts".
"I am sorry baby", Alice said hugging her,"why didn't you tell me?".
"It's okay ....I don't think I want to get married anymore...I have given up".
Alice pulled back, "Andrea you can't say that for sure....you ..."
Immediately the door opened and Beatrice ran inside with Nathan behind her.
"Mummy, I have missed you", Beatrice said running to meet her, she looked at her mum's face and noticed her tears.
"Mrs Alice, why is my mommy crying?".
"She's fine honey", Alice said carrying Beatrice outside whose gaze was fixed on her mum and she closed the door behind her.
Andrea was glad at what her friend did but she was angry with Nathan, she told him to take Beatrice for a few days, why was he back with her now, they had only spent two days ,couldn't he handle her.
"Hi", Nathan said dropping Beatrice's trolley and coming closer to her.
"I thought you were meant to still keep her with you..why are you guys here?", Andrea said angrily.
"Whoo...slow down..she said she misses you and wanted to come back home, seems like she has never stayed without her mum for long.
"Well, I still think you should have convinced her , we had an agreement", she said folding her hands.
"But we never agreed on the number of days".
"Fine...you win".
"What's wrong?, did you have a breakup?", the nerve of Nathan, why was he assuming she had a breakup.
"And what's that supposed to mean?".
"It's only a guy that causes Andrea to flare up this way....remember Doherty, the guy you had a crush on when we were still in high school....this was how you were reacting when you found out he was dating someone".
Andrea giggled, that was when she and Nathan were still friends before she started having feelings for him.
"At least it made you smile", Nathan said brushing a stray hair away from her face, "I have always liked your hair this way you know...this was how it was when I first met you".
"So you still remember", Andrea said and Nathan nodded.
"How can I forget ?, our friendship was beautiful".
Andrea nodded, "But our relationship didn't end well".
"Do you still date guys?", Andrea asked, she didn't know why she was going this lane if she was likely going to get hurt.
"No, everything changed when mum came...and then I realized that all I have ever needed was Jesus...I made my identity based on my sexuality and feelings , I felt like they had so much power over me....but then I have come to realize that sometimes what we think are God's rules are actually his way of protecting us...and I surrendered my desires to him , because who else to surrender them to than the one who created life itself and who knows the best for us".
"Nathan...I am so proud of you", the Nathan here was different from the one she had meet before , he had grown so much that she was grateful for their time apart.
"Thank you .......but you still haven't told me who the guy is".
"Maybe another time". NATHAN Today was the last day before his departure and he decided to do something different, he wanted to take Andrea out since he had spent a lot of time with Beatrice , he had told Andrea and she had agreed saying she would drop Beatrice off at a friend's place.
He knocked on the door, but it took a while before it was opened and Andrea came out, her dark hair in curls, she wore a white maxi dress with puffed hands and did little makeup.
"Hi beautiful", Andrea blushed as Nathan said that.
"Thanks Nathan", she said walking with him to the car he had rented for his stay here.
They entered the car and were on their way to a restaurant not too far from her house.
"Nathan, I am thinking of taking Beatrice to see my parents next week, they haven't met her yet".
"You have been talking with my mum".
"Yes...you sent her number remember".
"Yeah".
They arrived at the restaurant and made their way into the table that had been reserved for them.
The waiter came to take their orders and Nathan was angry with the way the young waiter kept staring at Andrea.
"Mademoiselle, what would you like to eat ?".
Andrea pointed at something on the menu , he nodded but kept staring at her but Nathan was irritated, he came with Andrea, the waiter should respect his...., it was there he was at loss for words, who was she to him?, if you asked him two weeks ago if he felt anything for Andrea, he could have sworn that she was just the mother of Beatrice but these last few days that he had been talking to her, something changed, maybe it was when he saw her crying or the day she was angry with him that he didn't know the cause of her anger, when he and Andrea were still dating, he had no feelings whatsoever towards her but now it seemed like things were changing , but would she ever consider him again even if they were to date again?".
He quickly threw his thoughts out the window, the waiter later came back dropping their food and Nathan kept silent for the rest of the evening, trying to deny what was happening within him. "Nathan...did I do anything wrong?", Andrea said her eyes teary.
"No babe...you didn't", he said squeezing her hands across the table, she looked at him in shock but continued eating, hold on did he call her babe, where did that come from.
