~~~doctor's office~~~
"Are you taking your medication?" Dr. Phillis asks me.
I nod. "Yes." A moment later, "Is everything okay?"
He looks up from his notes and forces a smile. "Of course."
Mom looks up from her phone. "What seems to be the problem, doctor?"
"Well," he starts slowly. "Is your medication working at all?"
"Yes," mom says. "She's not as emotional as she would be if she hands taken the pills."
Dr. Phillis shakes his head. "The charts are coming up almost the same as when she first got tested. We are wanting the numbers to decrease."
"What are you saying?" I ask.
He looks back down for a moment then sighs. "We may have to up you dosage again."
"Are you serious?"
He nods. "Yes. I think so."
Mom sits up. "Doctor, the medications already affect her eating and sleeping habits. Won't upping the dosage affect her even more?"
Dr. Phillis gives me a tight smile. "I am sorry, kid."
~~~Starbucks~~~
"So what did your doctor say?" Austin asks me.

I take a sip from my iced mocha and look up from my phone. "He wants to up my dosage," I say flatly.

His eyes widen. "Why?"

I shrug. "The charts didn't show any signs of improvement. So he thinks making me take more medicine will bring the charts down a little."

He gives me a sad smile. "I'm sorry, baby sis. I know how much you hate it."

But I wasn't worried about the medication. I've had to to take high dosages before. It's awful to have to rely on medicine to keep you happy. Even though that's not what the medicine does.

"Hey," Austin says, snapping his finger. "Kelli, tell me what's wrong."

I give him a small smile. "I just told you."

He shakes his head. "There's no point in lying to me."

"Hey," a little girl says, coming over to our table.

Austin flashes his million dollar smile. "Hello."

She holds out a piece of paper. "Can I get your autograph?"

He nods, taking the little girl's paper and writing his signature on it. "Can I get your name?"

She nods. "It's Taylor."

He hands her back the paper. "Well, here you go, Taylor."

Smiling, she skips away.

"We should get going," he says. "It'll suddenly get really crowded in here."

He helps me stand up and hands me my crutches.

But not before we're surrounded by screaming fans asking for an autograph.

Austin's bodyguard helps us over to our driver, Timothy.

Timothy opens the door for us. "I somehow knew you were headed here."

I hand him a coffee. "Here you go."

He smiles at me. "Always the sweetheart."

I laugh. "I try."

We drive in silence. Austin texting on his phone and me texting Sidney. I know he wants me to tell him what's bothering me. But I can't. Not right now. Maybe later. When I see something starts to happen.

~~~my room~~~
"But maybe you can come over," I say into the phone. "Maybe we---"
He sighs. "No, Kelli. I already told you. We are done. I'm with Connie now."
My eyes start to water. "Cody, I---"
"Look, Kelli. I really have to go. Just don't call again."
"But you called me," I say as the line clicks dead.
Mom walks in. "Kelli, honey. You need to start packing your bags. We leave early in the morning."
I nod, looking away.
She looks at me. "What's going on? What happened?"
When I don't say anything, she looks at my phone. Frowning, she glares at me. "He called you?"
Again, I say nothing.
She leaves the room. I can hear her talking to Austin. Cody did send a few messages that I wouldn't want them to see. But my therapist says my parents should check my phone everyday before I go to sleep. Just to make sure nothing is going on.
It sucks.
An angry Austin walks in the room, my phone in hand. "Why did he call you?" he seethes.
"He just..." my voice trails off.
Austin looks at me for a while and his eyes soften. He sits beside me and pulls me close. "Oh, Kelli. I can't express all the hatred I have for that idiot."
That at least got me to smile.
So, like always, I end up telling him what happened.
"He called to break up with you?" he asks flatly. "To tell you that Connie and him are together?"
"Yeah," I say quietly. "And then he said to never call him again."
By then Austin was furious. And I knew he'd stopped listening.
Slowly, I grab his arms and wrap them around my shoulders. Hoping to make him forget about his anger by seeming vulnerable and scared.
He sighs. "I'm sorry, Kelli. I'll fix all of this. I promise."
"How?" I ask in a small voice.
"Trust me, Kelli. I'll fix this."
That's a scary thought, I think to myself.
The scariest thought of all is that j actually believe he's going to take care of everything.
~~~tour bus~~~
We had to leave sometime after two in the morning in order to get to the stadium before sunrise. I wasn't really sleeping anyways. Since I took my medicine around eight at night.

I don't think the medicine is supposed to make me lose sleep, or my appetite. There are tons of people who take the same medicine as I do and they probably lose large amounts of sleep.

Sidney is SnapChatting me right now, commenting on my new pjs.

Then the door swings open. Austin stops when he sees me, a slight frown on his face. "How come you're still awake? It's three in the morning."

I gesture at my medicine. "I had to take my medicine before nine."

He nods. "You know, I looked up the side effects to your medication and it's supposed to make you sleepy, not wide awake."

Sidney sends me another SnapChat.

"Who are you talking to?" Austin asks, laying beside me.

"Sidney is also awake for some reason," I tell him.

We stay up for the night taking pictures of each other. And even though Austin has an early run through starting in one hour, he stayed up with me.

Austin was laying down looking like he couldn't stay awake another second.

"Sorry," I tell him. "I shouldn't have kept you up with me."

He gives me a small smile. "I came on my own. Though u don't think I'll be able to to rehearse for more than a few minutes."

I kiss his forehead. "Good night, Austin."

He yawns. "Good night, Kelli."
