     ~~~Austin's house~~~
"Come on, Kelli," my annoying brother calls out. "You'll be late."
I ignore him and continue putting on my sweater. "Ignore him," Sidney says, helping me. "He really does want to see you get better."
"Really?" I say, sarcastically. "I didn't notice."
She laughs quietly. "There you go."
I smile gratefully. "Thank you so much, Sid. It was starting to get impossible doing this every day."
She nods, opening the bathroom door for me. I slowly make my way towards the living room where my wonderful boyfriend was standing holding a bouquet of flowers. "Hey," he says softly, kissing my forehead.
"Hi," I say, smiling. "I didn't think you were coming."
"I just came to see you off," he admits. "Montana is sick with the flu."
"Oh," I say, my heart deflating a little. "Okay."
He looks away for a few moments. "Can we talk?"
I nod slowly. "Okay."
He leads me back into the bedroom I was currently staying in and shuts the door. He stays silent for a very long time, not looking me in the eyes. Unlike what he said, he has been a lot more distant than last time. He can only call me, and that's usually for only a few minutes. He is always busy with something and I am starting to believe he is breaking up with me. He clears his throat. "I know I told you I would be here for you a lot more," he starts softly. "But I've been very busy lately. With Montana being sick and... Connie."
My head immediately shot up sending pain down my spine. I wince before looking back up at him. "Connie?"
He nods. "I never lied about my feelings for you, Kelli. I meant everything I told you." He was now pleading, his eyes begging me to understand. I don't know what it is I'm supposed to understand but it sounds important. He takes my hands in his before continuing. "But as much as I tried, things like these still keep happening."
Against my better judgment, I place a kiss on his cheek. "It's probably nothing. Can it wait until later?"
"No," he says firmly. "It can't."
"Then stop trying to make things right by saying a bunch of random crap. What is it?"
"Kelli," Austin calls out. "We have to go."
I look at Cody. He lets out a sigh before standing. "I guess I will tell you later."
Right as he was opening the door, I stop him and close it. "I know about Connie. I know you keep lying to me about why you're always busy."
His eyes widen. "You know?"
I nod. "Austin asked me if I was pregnant," I say, recalling the moment. "I told him I wasn't and the whole thing just clicked. I already had my breakdown so you can just leave."
"Why didn't you say anything? You kept acting like everything was normal."
"Kelli, right now is not the time to do whatever it is you're doing," Austin interrupts. "Can't it wait until we come back."
Cody looks at me. "Are you mad?"
Mad? I am furious. Absolutely furious about everything. "Do you expect us to be together?"
He shakes his head. "I don't. I just wanted you to know."
I purse my lips. "I have to go," I say and he opens his mouth to speak but I don't stick around to hear anything come out of his mouth.
