She's the prettiest girl in the whole park. I want nothing more than for her to be happy. I don't know why I can't stop thinking about her. She makes me smile. She's the first person that comes to mind as soon as I wake up. Her smiles lights up my day. Watching her cry kills me inside. Spending the day with her makes me feel like the luckiest man in the world.
And I don't know why I can't just tell her those things.
Kelli looks up at me with pleading eyes.
"What?" I ask, my mouth full of cotton candy.
"Can I please have some cotton candy?"
I make a face. "No. You ate Luke's and your brother's. I want to eat mine."
She pulls her lips down into a frown. "Please?"
"Nope," I say, taking another bite.
She gets a mischievous glint in her eyes. "Okay," she says, a smirk playing on her lips.
I shrug, going back to my cotton candy. Seconds later, "Hey! I was eating that."
She laughs and takes off running, my cotton candy in hand.
I huff, crossing my arms over my chest.
Austin looks over at me. "You won't get that back unless you take it from her."
Kelli Ross will forever be the death of me.
"Go get it," Ty says, chuckling. "This will surely be fun to watch."
I groan. "I think I'll just buy a new one."
"Nuh uh," Luke says, pushing me in Kelli's direction. "Go get her."
"I'm so glad you guys are so supportive," I say sarcastically, shooting them a glare. They shrug and I roll my eyes before taking off after Kelli. She was hidden behind a pizza parlor happily eating my cotton candy. I walk up behind her, making sure she doesn't see me, and wrap my arms around her waist.
She squeals, jumping back. "You scared the crap out of me," she says, her eyes wide.
I chuckle and take a huge bite from the cotton candy resting in her hand. "It's mine."
She pulls it behind her back, peering up at me with her radiant green eyes. "What is?"
I pretend to lean in. "What you're hiding behind your back," I whisper, making a point to look her in the eyes. I have to keep reminding myself that we're in public. "I bought it with my money."
"How about we make a trade?" she asks, her eyes lighting up.
"A trade?"
She nods enthusiastically. "You let me eat the rest and I will..." she trails off. "What do you want?"
I think for a while. "A kiss," I tell her.
She looks at me. "What?"
I give her a crooked smile, trying to seem confident even though my heart feels like it is going to burst from my chest. I'm dying for her to kiss me again. "One kiss for the cotton candy."
A smile makes it's way on her lips before she presses them against mine, wrapping her free arm around my neck. I smile against the kiss. For this, I'd buy her all the cotton candy in the world. I hear the guys cheering behind me but I don't care. She chuckles whenever I pull her closer to me, not leaving any space in between us.
It is the best feeling in the world.
* * *
Whenever I had asked Kelli what she wanted to do for our 'one year', I figured she would say something like a dinner, or a trip. But instead, she told me she wanted to go somewhere that had fireworks. I knew this was something she truly cared about and wanted to make sure everything was absolutely perfect.
"Good luck, baby bro," Luke says, slapping his hand against my back. "Don't tip over."
I shoot him a glare. "I am this close to punching you in the face."
He rolls his eyes. "Stop being such a child and go."
I really hope I don't tip over. Then Kelli would think I did it on purpose. I take a deep breath. I sing in front of thousands of people every day. I have seen more people in the past month than in my whole life and not once have I felt scared. Now, I meet this girl and I don't even know how to tell her what I feel.
Letting out a deep sigh, I get in the boat. I'm supposed to surprise Kelli by telling her in front of the whole world watching - literally because there is suddenly a bunch of paparazzi who showed up for this specific event. I am supposed to be done before the fireworks show. They brought in the Marines and are going to sing a few songs after I'm finished.
I have absolutely no idea what to say when I go out there. I rehearsed so many times. The guys and I wrote a script. But now I can't seem to remember anything from that paper. I guess I will just have to wing it.
As I paddle into position, I wish it were just Kelli and me. That I wasn't making these confessions in public. Our whole relationship has been based on a lie but what I'm about to tell her is true, it comes from my heart - even if it sounds super cheesy.
The guys introduce me like we planned and I nervously grab the microphone from my boat. They plugged it in before I got on the boat as planned.
Just wing it, I say when the whole crowd just stares at me, waiting for me to utter words.
So I say the first words that come to mind.
"I love you, Kelli."
Next thing that happened was the fireworks, and the fact the mic cord just stuck with the paddle and the boat flipped over.
Hey guys!!! Sorry I ended it like that. What did you think of their kiss? Then Alex's confession? What do you think will happen afterwards?
The picture above is Alex and Kelli's kiss. Obviously it's not really them since Kelli is a blonde and the object being held by the girl is a lollypop not cotton candy, but it's okay! Actually, it was the only thing I could find that had anything to do with theme parks.
Four more chapters left!!! I'm so sad right now! I don't want to be over.
But all good things must come to and end so I can start on the sequel!! Yay! Honestly, I already have it all planned out. I won't start posting until sometime in July, I hope. That's the plan. Let's hope it works out. Maybe sooner, who knows?
You guys should be proud of me. Even though it is very late, I still posted on time!
I hope you guys liked it. Thanks for reading!!
