I was walking down the hallway trying to find my brother when Alex grabs my hand."Hey," he says.
I force a smile, today's not one of those good mood days. "Hey, Alex."
He frowns. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah," I mutter, running a hand through my hair. "Do you need something?"
He gulps after a while. "I was wondering if you want to go to the beach with me," he says hopefully.
I glare at him. "I don't think that's the best idea, Alex."
His shoulders deflate a little. "Its just for a walk. I already talked to Austin. He said it was fine."
I narrow my eyes. "Really?"
He nods. "Yesterday."
"And what did you say?"
He looks around before leaning in a little. "I need to show you something," he whispers softly.
His hot breath against my ear made it tingle. I look him in the eye. "Okay."
He lets out a smile before leading me out to his limo. I take a seat across from him so I can see his face. I find myself wanting to kiss him again. His eyes stayed on mine for a while before taking my hands in his. "Did you really mean what you said about us not lasting?"
I look down at our hands. "I don't know," I mutter, looking out the window.
He sighs. "Well, we're here," he says, a little less enthusiastically.
I follow him through the warm sand. He points somewhere and I let put a squeal. "I'd that a turtle?" I ask.
He nods, chuckling.
"Is it alive?"
This time, he laughs out loud. "Yes, Kelli. It's alive."
I go close to it. "Are you sure?" I ask. "It looks kind of fake."
He points to it. "Go pet it. If its real, it will bite you."
I roll my eyes. "I'm not petting it."
His eyes twinkle. "Well, we should get going then," he says, holding out his hand.
I smile, taking his hand, which is ten times bigger than mine. "We probably should."
We walk along the shoreline for a while - just like me and Cody had a few days ago - and just talk. He doesn't bring up the kiss and neither do I. It is perfect.
Then he turns to face me. "I know you're dating Cody," he starts, his voice soft. "I'm not going to try to pursue you while you're with Cody."
I look up at him. "What do you mean try to pursue me? Why would you want to pursue me?"
His mouth curves up in a smile. "Youre going to make me spell it out, aren't you?"
I give him a blank look.
Alex let's out a sigh. "Ilikeyou," he says quickly.
I furrow my brows. "That made no sense. Say it slower."
"I like you," he mutters, looking down at the sand.
Shock wouldn't even begin to describe what I was feeling. What about the girl he has feelings on? Did he just forget about her because of one kiss?
I open my mouth to say something but he cuts me off. "I know it's kind of unexpected but I really do. And--"
"What about the other girl?" I blurt out.
He gives me a confused look. "Brooke? We broke up."I shake my head. "The one you like," I say. "You're writing a song for her."
He stares at me - a look bordering amusement and disbelief. "Seriously?"
I nod, pulling my hands away. "It's like you forgot about her. I don't want you to stop liking her because we kissed."
By now, he was laughing. Almost doubled over. He sounds angelic. Tears were falling from his face when he finally stopped.
I sigh. "Are you going to tell me why this was so funny?" I ask after a while.
He chuckles, placing a hand on my cheek. "It's you, Kelli. I thought you figured it out by now."
My eyes widen and my mouth drops open. "Seriously?"
He nods. "How did you not know?"
I shrug. "I just... I figured it was someone amazing and pretty."
He places a small kiss on my cheek. "You are amazingly beautiful," he whispers. "And one day, when you realize what an idiot Cody is, I'll be right here waiting."

I lift my head from Alex's shoulder. "I thought you said you had something to show me."His eyes clouded over in confusion. "I had something to show you?" Then his eyes widen. "Oh, yeah. I can't believe I forgot."
I pull away from him so he can look in his pocket.
He pulls out two tickets. I stare at it for a while before he hands them to me. "I knew you wanted fireworks. And at first, I didn't know how to make that happen. The guys helped me look for places and--"
"Shut up," I say. "Stop talking."
He doesn't say anything.
I turn the ticket over.
Sea World
"These are expensive, Alex," I say quietly.
He shrugs. "Not when you're famous."
I laugh at how incredibly shallow that sounded. "I seem to keep forgetting."
He looks at me. "Do you like it?" he asks hopefully.
I nod, smiling up at him. "I can't believe you actually got these though."
"The guys wanted to go too. And your brother wouldn't have let us go unless they all came with us. It's on that same day and we all get front row seats for whenever the fireworks show actually starts."
I wrap my arms around his neck. "Thank you so much," I say happily, trying not to cry because not only will it be completely embarrassing, he'll think I hate it - which I absolutely don't.
"Anything for you," he whispers back.
