~Austin's POV~
~~~hospital~~~
I storm out of the hotel room, clearly unhappy. I could kill someone. Not only is she in the hospital, but she hadn't taken her medicine. I feel horrible for treating her the way I do. But she's not taking anything seriously. Because if something happens because she was being stupid and didn't take her medicine, it would be all my fault. And I'm not in the mood to plan a funeral at the moment.I sink into the floor and cover my face, letting out a frustrated groan. Kelli is always saying I'm overprotective. She's always telling me that if mom and dad don't care, that I shouldn't either. But it's just not that simple.
I love Kelli with all my heart. This stupid thing she's going through will stay with her forever and I want to be there for her. But my actions always cause her to push me away. I'm always the reason she ends up starving herself, or not taking her medicine in this case.
"Hey," I hear Sidney say. "You okay?"
I look up and see Ty with Sidney. Forcing a smile, I nod. "Just need a breathe."
Ty cock his head to one side. "She's okay, Austin. You know that right?"
"She won't be if she keeps ignoring everything I say," I spit back angrily. "She's being an idiot. Why the crap would she not take her medicine? Was I really that bad?"
Sid shakes her head, taking a seat beside me. "This isn't your fault, Austin," she says softly. "Kelli loves you so much. We all knew it was going to be a matter of time before she passed out. She wouldn't blame you and you know that."
I nod. "I know," I mutter. "But do you think I'm overprotective? Do you think I worry too much?"
She gives me a smile. "No," she says confidently. "Because your parents aren't around to tell her she needs her meds. Or that she has to eat. They aren't around so you do it for them. You are not overprotective, Austin. I never thought you were. And I know for a fact that if you asked Kelli, she wouldn't think so either."
I scoff. "Yeah, right."
Ty agrees with her, taking a seat on the other side of me. "She's not wrong, man. Kelli may say you are but she doesn't mean it."
The doctor comes out of the room. I quickly stand up.
He gives me a small smile. "I'm afraid she needs a new prescription. I have also taken the liberty of setting up a therapist for her. Twice weekly."
She won't like that at all. I run a hand through my hair but nod anyways.
He pats my shoulder before walking off.
"Are you ready to go back in?" Sidney asks me quietly.
I let out a deep breath before nodding. "Yeah."
Alex was sitting beside Kelli, she was smiling up at him. His eyes were lit up at her smile. Chance was watching them with a ghost of a smile. Luke was taking pictures and probably posting it online.
Kelli looks over at means her smile slightly fades. There was fear in her eyes. It hurts that she has to look at me like that. I'm her brother. And I may be protective but I just want her happy and healthy.
"You get discharged at noon," I say quietly.
She purses her lips but nods anyways.
I cross my arms over my chest and look down at the floor. I don't want to yell. I can't make her any more upset than I already have.
"I'm not mad," I tell her.
I notice her bottom lip quivers and my heart drops to the bottom of my stomach. I'm making her cry.
