"Is that so?"

The room was filled with tension as the air grew thick with unspoken words and emotions. My heart pounded in my chest as I silently prayed for God to save me from this monster.

In one swift motion, he wrapped his strong arm around my waist, pulling me forcefully against him. The sudden movement caused my back to crash into his firm chest, the impact reverberating through my body.

His warm breath tickled my ear as he hummed a low tune, the vibrations sending shivers down my spine and making my heart race even faster.

Desperate to regain some semblance of composure, I inhaled deeply and turned to face him, stepping back slightly to create some distance.

I mustered the courage to nod at him, though my resolve wavered under the intensity of his gaze. Our eyes locked for a brief, electrifying moment before I was jolted out of the trance by Zoe's cheerful voice.

"I can't wait any longer." She announced with glee, lifting a plate brimming with chocolate-flavored cupcakes. Without hesitation, she began to devour them, her face lighting up with joy.

"Nova, they're yummy!" She exclaimed, her excitement palpable.

"Thanks" I responded, forcing a small smile to my lips despite the turmoil inside me. I turned my attention back to Alexander, hoping for some semblance of normalcy.

"Alexander, do you want to try?" Zoe asked innocently, offering him a cupcake. His eyes flicked to mine, a cold and detached look that made my stomach churn.

"You already know I don't like sweet things." He said, his tone flat and unyielding. I swallowed hard, trying to steady my nerves.

"H-Ho-How about th-this?" I stammered, my voice barely above a whisper as I lifted my own plate of red velvet cupcakes, a hopeful gesture that I prayed would bridge the chasm between us.

But in an instant, my hopes were shattered. With a swift and violent motion, he knocked the plate from my hands, sending it crashing to the floor. The loud thud echoed in the room, and my mouth fell open in shock.

"Never make this type of cupcake." He roared, his voice filled with venom. Tears welled up in my eyes as I looked at him, searching for any sign of the guilt for what just he do.

But all I found was anger and disgust.

Unable to bear the weight of his gaze, I stood there, frozen in place, as he stormed out of the kitchen. My mind raced with confusion and hurt.
