Six Months Later
"Mom, look! Which one is best for our little prince?" Zoe asked, holding up two pairs of tiny shoes, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
She turned the shoes this way and that, showcasing them to our mother. We were out shopping for Ivaan's birthday, a bittersweet milestone.
It had been a year since his birth.
A year since I lost my Bella.
"Nova said he looks cute in yellow, so I chose the yellow ones." Mom inspected the shoes thoughtfully. She smiled warmly, holding the tiny pairs in her hands.
I left the store, knowing they would take their time deliberating. I headed towards the jewelry section, determined to find a special gift for my son.
"Sir, may I help you?" As I approached the baby section, a female worker greeted me with a professional smile.
"Yes, I want matching jewelry for a mother and a one-year-old boy." I replied. She nodded, sensing my excitement.
"Sir, do you have any particular jewelry in mind?" She asked. I paused, thinking about it, then shook my head.
"No worries. Please wait a moment." She said, and left. Moments later, she returned with a stack of boxes, each filled with delicate jewelry pieces.
One by one, she displayed them before me. I was tempted to buy everything, but I knew I needed to find something truly special for my son's first birthday.

"I hope you're happy seeing your son growing so well." Mom said, her voice cracking slightly as she looked at Bella's grave. I stood there, feeling a mix of grief and nostalgia, staring at the yellow sunflower placed near the grave.
"Brother, did you put this flower here?" Zoe asked, pointing at the sunflower. Her question surprised me, as she knew my distaste for yellow sunflowers. I shook my head, confusion evident on my face.
"Nova did." Mom replied, her voice barely above a whisper. I turned to her sharply, my curiosity piqued. Another surprise of the day.
"She wants Ivaan to receive blessings from his mother first." Mom continued, her eyes welling up with tears. The weight of her words hung in the air, adding to the heaviness of the moment.
This girl. Oops, not girl anymore. She had grown into a strong, independent woman who commanded respect. She holds power to stand in front of me. In the last six months, she never missed chance to surprise me.
