"Ahhhh!" I screamed in exasperation, gasping for breath. How did I fall into her deceitful trap?
She is just like her, yet she isn't her. Why can't I accept this truth? Why? The clock read 3 AM. Four hours had passed since I had locked her in that cold, unyielding room.
Damn it...
I crumbled, unable to find solace in sleep. Rising from my bed, I wore my shirt and headed towards her. The hallway felt longer than usual, each step a testament to my mounting dread.
As I approached the door, my heart pounded louder. With a deep breath, I opened the door and switched on the light. My eyes widened in horror as I saw her lifeless body sprawled on the floor.
Oh, shit...!
"Nova!" I yelled, my voice echoing off the cold walls. I rushed to her, lifting her limp form into my arms. Her skin was icy, her lips tinged blue.
Panic surged through me as I carried her out of the room, taking her to mine. I laid her down on the bed and quickly covered her with a warm blanket.
"Nova" I called out, gently tapping her cheeks, but she didn't stir. She was as cold as ice, her body unresponsive.
Frantically, I removed my shirt and lay beside her, hugging her tightly in an attempt to share my warmth. I rubbed her back, trying to generate some heat as she trembled violently.
"Nova" I called again, my voice cracking with fear, but there was no response. Damn! Realizing the gravity of the situation, I knew I had to take her to the hospital.
I stood up, hastily put on my shirt, wrapped her in the blanket, and carried her out to the car. As I was setting her inside, Ander approached, his face a mask of concern and anger.
"What happened to her?" He asked, his voice strained and trembling as he touched her forehead with a mix of panic and desperation.
"What did you do to her?" He yelled again, louder this time, his voice echoing with accusation and fear.
"This is not the time for arguments. We need to get her to the hospital." I said firmly, trying to keep calm despite the chaos, sitting beside her and gently cradling her in my lap.
"I'm coming." He replied, determination replacing his earlier panic, as he joined us in the backseat while the driver sped off, tires screeching against the asphalt.
"Faster!" I shouted to the driver, my heart pounding as I watched her face turn a sickly shade of blue. Desperation clawed at me, and I rubbed my hands against her skin, trying to generate some warmth, but it seemed futile.
I sighed deeply, resting my head against hers, feeling utterly helpless. In a fleeting moment of hope, she moved her hand slightly, and I opened my eyes quickly, only to see that she still hadn't woken up. My heart sank even further.
