Sebastian was parking his car across Alexandra's apartment just as Alexandra and her 'family', Xavier pulled over. He watched as the driver who was wearing a suit opened the back door and Xavier exited. Just like the first time he saw him, he was wearing a high-end suit and even at a distance Sebastian could see that this man carry himself with authority and conviction. Xavier then went to other side of the door to open it for Alexandra.
When Alexandra stepped out of the car, Sebastian felt like she was a completely different person to that girl who was wearing his hoodie a day before and to the girl that he found at the side of the road changing her own tires. At that moment, Alexandra carried herself with much more elegance that could easily be associated with one that grew up with a silver spoon.
Sebastian continued to watch as Xavier held Alexandra's as he walked her to the front entrance. They were holding each other's hand yet their facial expression both seemed so... somber. When they reached the front entrance, the two stopped on their step and they were just standing there staring at each other. As an outsider, Sebastian felt as though he was witnessing two lovers in their intimate moment and he couldn't help himself but get jealous of what he was witnessing.
Who the hell is Xavier in Alexandra's life and why does it seem like there is something more to them than being a family.
He watched as Xavier tuck in a loose strand of Alexandra's hair behind her ear. Alexandra was saying something to him that made Xavier smile. Sebastian could see how Alexandra's eyes lit up as she looked up to Xavier's face and how closely they were to each other. Just when he thought he couldn't stand watching them anymore, Xavier leaned in and planted a kiss on Alexandra's forehead. Alexandra's eyes were close and the kiss lingered for a few seconds before Xavier pulled away. Alexandra hugged him and soon after, Xavier made his way back into the car.
It seemed like he wasn't the only one watching since the driver, upon seeing his boss tracing his steps back, exited the car and opened the passenger door. Sebastian had a clear view of Xavier's face. He was trying what to make up of his facial expression, sure, the man could easily qualified good looking but as an outsider, Sebastian couldn't help but think that Xavier looked... defeated. Just before Xavier could enter the car, Sebastian heard Alexandra calling out Xavier's name. Xavier turned around instantly and that was when, Alexandra with a sad smile on her face and determination in her face, said,
"I love you."
In that instant Sebastian wanted to just step on the gas pedal and sped away. Yet, instead of doing that, he continued to watch as Xavier responded and left with a smile on his face.
It felt as though he got his hear ripped at that moment. If Alexandra was just another girl, he wouldn't even feel that way. He could have easily shrugged it off and moved on yet, for a short period of time that he had known Alexandra, he forgot about everything else in his life and everything seemed to revolve just around her.
He remembered her telling him that she doesn't do feelings and how they couldn't be anything but friends was Xavier the reason why? Is she in love with him?
If that's the case, Sebastian lost the battle. He can't, for the life of him, fight for someone who already belongs to someone else. He never wanted to be the person that would push himself to someone that would never want him back.
As he watched Alexandra disappeared behind the door, he battled himself whether he would go in after her or leave. And in the moment of weakness, he resorted to his old self. He took out his phone from his pocket and scrolled until he found the name he was looking for.
After two rings, the person answered.
Hiding the bitterness in his voice Sebastian spoke, "Hey, Brianna! I was just wondering if you would want to come over." With one last look to Alexandra's apartment, Sebastian started the ignition and made his way back to his condo.
