"I thought you said you want lunch?" Xavier asked which took away Alexandra's attention from Sebastian who was standing across the hall.

"Where did Brianna go?" she asked as she took her plate that Xavier was holding. It was piled up by mashed potatoes, kernel corn, and steak. Leave it to Xavier to cater lunch.

"She said she'd be helping out serving food." Xavier said as he sat down on the chair.

"I see." She said as she looked down on her food suddenly losing her appetite.

She knew the possibility of Sebastian showing up to the event was relatively high since Anna was part of the committee. Yet, seeing him not too far from where she's sitting leaves her with the same feeling of frustration as if she's being punched in the stomach over and over again.

When Anna approached her earlier, she wasn't quite sure what to tell her and what happened between her and Anna's bastard of a friend. Yet, one look at Anna was enough clue that she already knew what happened and her talking to Alexandra was enough clue that Anna didn't support her friend's pathetic scheme. Anna even went to the extent of apologizing to her on behalf of her friend but Alexandra waved her off saying that Anna had nothing to apologize since what happened was between her and Sebastian. Their conversation was interrupted when Xavier appeared on her side and as usual, he offered her support by putting his arms on her hip – to which didn't escape Anna's observation. Once she introduced the two, Anna subtly mentioned Sebastian's name and before the two launch into a conversation regarding Sebastian, Alexandra changed the topic and cued Anna that she didn't want Xavier to include on the topic of Sebastian to which she understood and decided to leave it at that.

"Hey," Xavier said as he locked strands of her hair behind her ears as he cupped her face, "I thought you said you were starving."

"Yeah, sorry. Just got distracted."

"Don't tell me you want me to spoon feed you, because," he said as he looked around before he leaned closer to his face, "as much as I would want to, I don't want to give them the idea."

With that, Alexandra laughed as she smacked her friend on the shoulder, "You so wish!"

"What?" he said with a huge smile on his face and his emerald eyes sparkled, "Pretty sure at least five girls that are here today would so badly to be on your seat right now."

Alexandra moved her head back as she laughed momentarily forgetting about all the people around them including Sebastian, "You're so full of yourself!"

Xavier looked her in the eyes as he once again tuck her hair behind her ears, "I'm just telling the truth. Besides, you and I both know that you had a huge crush on me when we were kids."

Alexandra rolled her eyes, "Oh, whatever! It's not like I'm the only one! If I remember correctly you're the one who told our dads that you would marry me when we grow up."

"What makes you think I don't mean it now?" Xavier retorted with a serious look on his face.

Alexandra stared back at him as she tried to read his facial expression. Moments like that were vital to their relationship. There were times that she couldn't fathom what he was thinking. It warms her heart to know how genuine Xavier could be but it also scares her that as much as she loves him, she wouldn't be able to give him the kind of love he deserves. It scares her to know that when the time comes that either of them dig deeper into the kind of relationship they have, one of them would get hurt more than the other and one thing she could never allow to happen is to hurt the one man that she owes her life to.
