Just you and I

chapter 12: maybe date

“Oh good , Lily, I was hoping you would be here today,” Lucas’s mom says while putting down her purse.

“Why is that” I say with a slight giggle

“Cause I have some dresses I wanted you to try on” says Lucas’s mom

“Sure” I say

“Great, they are in my room on the bed, just close the door and tell what you think after, I’m going to bingo now” Lucas’s mom says while kissing lucas on the cheek “bye sweetie, Lily make sure he doesn’t just eat junk food all day” and with that she was out the door.

I go into her room and close the door. I walk over to her bed and see three dresses. The first one was a short red dress. I took off my clothes and put on the dress.  It fit my figure perfectly. I walk over to take a look in the mirror. I don't look half bad in my opinion.

I admire myself for what feels like forever and then I take off the dress. I pick up the next dress. It's a white strapless dress with sunflowers all over the bottom. It also looks really good on me. I walk over to the mirror once more. Although I am startled to see Lucas leaning against the door, staring.

"Like what you see?" I say teasingly

"Yeah" Lucas says without thinking

He quickly changes his whole demeanor "I mean it looks great on you, in a non creepy way" he says with a nervous laugh.

" Thanks" I say with a slight smile.

"So did you come in here because you needed something or were you just spying?" I ask

" Needed something… oh right, yeah my mom left money for food so I was gonna ask you if you wanted to go out and eat at the Mexican restaurant" Lucas says

" Sure, it would give me a chance to try out one of these new dresses your mom got me" I say while twirling around.

"Cool I'll meet you downstairs in 5 minutes" Lucas says

He leaves while closing the door to the bedroom. I put back on the red dress and straightened my hair and then I put on a pair of red heels to match the dress. I pair it all with my black jean jacket. Lucas's mom lets me wear her stuff all the time.

I walk down the stairs to meet Lucas. He was wearing a nice black t-shirt and a pair of ripped jeans. His hair was fluffier than usual which meant he took a quick shower. We get into the car and drive to the restaurant. He opens the car door for me. I say thank you and we walk inside the restaurant.

I'm already greeted by bright colors and the smell of tacos. We take a seat in a booth and begin looking at the menu.

" I think I'm gonna get the three amigos again" Lucas says

" Not surprised, I think I'm gonna get the steak fajitas with a side of guacamole" I say

We call over a waitress and tell her our drink orders. We both got a Dr pepper with no ice. She comes back with a pad and pen.
" What can I get for the nice couple today?" Asks the waitress

We are both startled by what comes out of her mouth because now that I think about it. It does look like we are on a date. Lucas doesn't correct her and proceeds to tell her our food order.
